Early speculation pointed towards Charlie Batch as the Steelers’ possible starter in Pittsburgh’s opener against the Falcons, but it was Dennis Dixon who took the first team snaps at practice on Monday.
Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that Batch was taking snaps with the second team. We’ll have to wait and see if Mike Tomlin announces a starter -- we doubt he will soon -- but starter snaps should tell us everything we need to know.
Unless Tomlin is trying to pull a fast one on the media and has Batch taking first team snaps later in the week, it looks like Dixon will help me avoid losing a regrettable bet to MDS.
