After being traded from the Vikings to the Giants, Sage Rosenfels says he’s happier being the backup to Eli Manning in New York than he was in Minnesota, where he spent most of the offseason not knowing when or if Brett Favre would show up to push him down the depth chart.
“It couldn’t be further from what I just went through,” Rosenfels said of the situation with the Giants, per the Star-Ledger. “We had four quarterbacks, and it was day-to-day with sort of what’s going to happen. But this situation, I feel like I’m on solid ground. Coach [Tom] Coughlin knows what he’s going to get out of me and I know what I’m going to get out of him and the team, and I’m obviously much happier to be in a situation where I know what’s going to happen on a day-to-day basis.”
Rosenfels says he has a lot of work to do to get caught up on the Giants’ playbook.
“There’s always similarities in offenses as far as route combinations and reads versus coverages,” Rosenfels said. “But the verbiage is completely different than anything I’ve been in. And that’s going to be the challenge.”
But at least as Rosenfels tackles that challenge, he knows where he stands.
We Viking fans are happy now as well. Now, things said in confidence inside the locker room will stay there and not be leaked to the press.
I’m glad we have a legit backup again. Having David Carr for a few years was nice, now we get Rosenfels. Great acquisition.
And he will still be a backup…………so?
From the outhouse to the penthouse
From an ower who wanted to buy the Giants and settled for the Viqueens to the real owners of the Giants.
This time next year Ziggy will have a for sale sign on the Viqueens he will use some of that money to by a couple PSL’s at Giant Stadium
Be careful readers
THIS IS A HOAX
Sage = Garbage
You will still be a backup Sage. But you will not be backing up the greatest QB ever. And you will not be able to learn every day from the master. And you will not be able to see first hand, the amazing talent displayed before your very eyes. And you wont be able to shine the legend’s shoes each and every day. And you will not be able to succeed the King after this year and receive his blessing once he moves on to his Mississippi retirement paradise after he leads HIS team to a Super Bowl Championship in this, his final glorious year. Oh, And you will not be able to receive a Super Bowl ring now that you have been banished. But, as long as your happy…………..yea right.
“And he will still be a backup…………so ?”
Idiot. What he’s saying is not about which #QB he is, but his surroundings, the team, the honesty and relationship with the coach. It’s like having the same job, but working for another company. One you like better, one where you trust managenment.
Well he should be happier. Now he only requires one injury to see playing time instead of two.
Is Matt Leinhart a worse quarterback than Brady Quinn?
Anyone else notice that each person that comes to the giants says how professional and better it is? Andrews, Sage, Toomer, etc… That may just be the NY hype machine but it seems to get repeated alot from alot of different people. I’m interested to know if there really is a major difference between the culture at the Raiders, Chargers, Skins, and Giants for instance. There seems to be a pretty disastrous one in Vikingsland. The coach being undermined by a player is even worse than a coach being undermined by the owner…

Still hating the Vikes because they are far superior to the helpless Giants? I can’t blame you,I mean you douchers are happy as hell to get Sage…you know,a guy we burried down our depth chart. We will see how happy Sage is riding the pine in your cold stadium wearing the dreaded “Coughlin Red Face.” At least we gave him shelter….
Cant blame the man for wanting to know his role other than a “day to day” situation. Nothing against Minnesota, but that situation had to be stressful for him. It’s hard for anyone to be successful under those terms.
Anyone would be happy to leave a loser trophyless organization that is about to move to one that has 7 World Championships.
Nobody feels better after this last week than Rosenfels.
So you Vikings fans really think Favre is going to play this entire season?
Smart money’s on him getting blasted by week 8, where you will wish you had a backup QB who can actually throw.
Childress is full of delusions of grandeur…
And what do you want him to say? “Aw crap! I don’t want to be here.”
He got traded. He had no say in the matter. He is happy to still be working in the NFL and making NFL money. So he gives his new team a positive spin. It is what everybody says. They find the silver lining rather than the rain.
Dear Big Blue Fan:
It appears the ” Vikequeens” as you call them are 4-0 in the last 4 games against the Big Blow.
I can’t imagine Coughlin telling Rosenfels, if/when he drastically outperforms Jim Sorgi in preseason, that Sorgi is still the #2 guy regardless. I’d be happier too.
He’d be better served backing up Mcnabb. That way he’d atleast have a shot at post season play.
Sage is a wiser man.
Much happier? Hahaha. For now. It won’t be so fun holding that clipboard and getting Eli’s water in december while outdoors. I’m sure you’ll rather be in the dome holding the clipboard while fething Bretts water in november or december. The real truth has nothing to do with being on solid ground or knowing your role on a day to day basis. Fact is u got beat out by Tarvaris Jackson and rookie Joe Webb! That’s awesome.

As if the Redskins remember what that is…
Too funny
To the Viqueens fans: One missed assignment on that Oline and you’ll be wishing Sage was still there, because it’s only gonna take one blindside shot to take out your ancient Drama Queen. If you think Tavaris is the answer, then you guys are equally as stupid as your head coach.
“Verbiage”????
I believe the common term on both teams is still “clipboard’.
His situation in Minnesota was simple…practice and be ready to play if/when you are called upon. It was like that with or without the Favre drama and it is the same for every back-up in the league. His situation was no more special or arduous than anybody else’s. Sage does not have the talent to start in the NFL. He does have the ability to make himself look better to the media by leaking insider stuff but his talent as a QB is sub-par. I’m sure his whiny attitude will come out again and in NY I seriously doubt it will be tolerated.
“Anyone would be happy to leave a loser trophyless organization that is about to move to one that has 7 World Championships.”
Yeah. Those 7 championships that he had no part of. They’re making him so happy to be there.
Cleveland has 7 championships too. I bet everybody wants to jet from teams like Minnesota, San Diego, Philly, Tennessee, Atlanta and Cincy so they can go play for teams that had dynasties before they were born.

Hmmmmmm…….
outhouse: cramped, smelly, tends to have long lines….
penthouse: spacious, great views of surrounding, fresher air….
I think you may have it backwards there, Big Loo Fan.
ROSEN-CHOPPER has not been the same since Houston days.
Ok, I’ve read some really stupid comments on this web site, but this one has hit an all-time low:
“Cleveland has 7 championships too. I bet everybody wants to jet from teams like Minnesota, San Diego, Philly, Tennessee, Atlanta and Cincy so they can go play for teams that had dynasties before they were born.”
Cleveland? Umm, no they didn’t. Unless you count the “Bulldogs”…..
Minny = 1
SD = 0
Philthadelphia =- 0
Tenn = 0
Atlanta = 0
Nati = 0
Yup, great championship history in those places. He could do a lot worse than joining one of the Flagship franchises of the NFL. Now, go put your pj’s on….mommy wants you in bed.
Moron.
Favre won’t make it through the season and most of the Viking players will wish that they’d been traded to the Giants before the season started. Their only consolation will be playing home games in Los Angeles in the very near future.

Touche, kind sir.
The thing about Sage being traded to NY is that I think his type of personality can’t survive in a town like that. If he ends up under center with an Eli injury, there’s no way he can take the NY sports scene heat, and ends up crumbling under the pressure, thus making stupid mistakes and getting crucified by the fans. NY sports fans are BRUTAL.
I will miss you Sage brush. You never got a real chance hear in Minnesota. Now we are stuck with TJack. He will fail in the end and when he gets his hat handed to him I hope Colonel Klink the pint size version is right behind him. I am happy to have Favre but when he leaves and Tarvaris fails what old washed up Q-back will be next to go through the revolving door? I envey the Pack, Saints and even the Kittens have a good Q-back for the future. Side note: TJack, take those damn diamonds and gold chain off and turn your hat around strait and start at least acting like a leader. Your not in the hood anymore and I bet your teamates think your a clown too wearing that getto gear during a game.
I don’t understand how anyone could rip Sage for his comments here. I completely agree with everything he said. Who would want to be part of the Zoo that is the offseason with the Vikings…. Queen Favre decides when he wants to come to camp so you honestly have no idea who you are backing up, or what the depth chart even looks like.
I lost all respect for Favre after his antics these past couple offseasons. Who could blame Sage for being happy to get out of that ridiculous circus.
I have to chuckle at posts that say “smart money” or “Week 8 he’ll be out” or anything that has to do with Brett Favre missing a game.
He. Just. Doesn’t. Miss. Games.
How many times does a player have start a game in a row before he earns respect that he’s a tough S.O.B.?
WAY BACK in college he was in an accident and…..well you know that story. He is a different kind of player. One that plays like every game will be his last…..but he keeps coming back.
I just wish he could make up his mind earlier in the off season. His off field decisions are slow but he still can play damn good on it. And yeah, some of his decisions ON the field are bad as well.
Here’s hoping Mr. Favre has another good year. Just not against the Packers!
Icewalker~
Even HGH has limitations. Brett won’t make it through this season. The Viking fans are saying that the Titanic could never sink, but they’ll be manning the lifeboats before the end of November.
Good luck Giant fans. Your new prize was beat out by Tarvaris Jackson.

I think you are the first Packer Fan that I have seen that has had decent things to say about Favre since he left Green Bay. Kudos to you!
All the same talk was going on last year, cept then they were talking about his arm. This year its his ankle. I do think that no matter what, this will be his final year, win lose or draw.
I gotta disagree with you though, he is gonna play as well if not better against GB than he did last year
With Sage you have a guy that stood up to Chilly and Chilly don’t like that. I guess he sucks in practice buy he looked like he could move the ball when he was on it. Good Luck Sage,,,,hope you get back on the field some day but you have been snake bit.
As a clones fan for years I have seen few win games in Ames and he did and a nice bowl win also. If you can win in Ames you can get it done on the field.
Icewalker, you clowns were saying all that garbage last season to, remember? It didn’t happen then and it isn’t going to happen this season either.
Don’t blame Sage for feeling this way now. It must be very difficult to work hard during the off-season and then at camp only to have Brett step in at the proverbial last minute and have the qb position handed to him on a silver platter with barely a drop of sweat shed.
If I were Sage I’d be happy to be somewhere else, too.
GO GIANTS!!!

Unless you mean that last line……..it may just happen. I just didn’t say “all that garbage”. I gave Mr. Favre respect, didn’t call anyone gay (a little homophobic if you ask me) and didn’t call anyone fat.
Sometimes, though, I am a clown!
Just not having to listen to Col Klink talk will make Sage a happier man.
The Vikings are a sinking ship so Sage being traded is like getting off the Titanic before it leaves the port.

I’m sorry, maybe I don’t know as much about the NFL as I thought I did.
Have they started crowning dynasties for teams that have Super Bowl “moral victories”? I think Buffalo would be pretty upset you forgot about them…
sage is a poor mans gus ferrotte. dude couldnt even carry jacksons nutcup. silly bastard thinks hes happier w big blue 3 days after he was traded lol. cmon now sage.
