Sage Rosenfels “much happier” with Giants

After being traded from the Vikings to the Giants, Sage Rosenfels says he’s happier being the backup to Eli Manning in New York than he was in Minnesota, where he spent most of the offseason not knowing when or if Brett Favre would show up to push him down the depth chart.

It couldn’t be further from what I just went through,” Rosenfels said of the situation with the Giants, per the Star-Ledger. “We had four quarterbacks, and it was day-to-day with sort of what’s going to happen. But this situation, I feel like I’m on solid ground. Coach [Tom] Coughlin knows what he’s going to get out of me and I know what I’m going to get out of him and the team, and I’m obviously much happier to be in a situation where I know what’s going to happen on a day-to-day basis.”

Rosenfels says he has a lot of work to do to get caught up on the Giants’ playbook.

“There’s always similarities in offenses as far as route combinations and reads versus coverages,” Rosenfels said. “But the verbiage is completely different than anything I’ve been in. And that’s going to be the challenge.”

But at least as Rosenfels tackles that challenge, he knows where he stands.
