Kaz, you put up a link to just over 13 minutes of a 71-minute press conference. That’s pretty sad.
He stated plainly later in the press conference that he did not believe the woman was paid off. He also said clearly that he hoped she and her friends had learned their lesson. The medical exam found that she did not have intercourse.
I’m tired of wrangling with bitter rival fans who revel in thinking a woman was raped when she wasn’t and that a young athlete is a rapist. Obviously, by this posting, YOU are the kind of person who distorts facts and evidence to make a point. I’m not. I’m sorry your life is so empty that you have nothing better to do than scour the Internet looking for edited comments. I can’t imagine what kind of misery would prompt someone to falsely accuse another man of a sex crime because he hates his football team.

Ben will start on 10/17/10. If you don’t think he will, then put some money where your mouth is and make a bet with me. You dopes. I certainly hope Dixon plays well in Ben’s absence, and I will be supporting him in those first 4 games. Frankly, I hope the pressure doesn’t get to him too much. But at this point in his career he is not even close to the caliber of player Ben has shown to be, and not many are, let alone someone as green as Dixon is. Watch football, dummies, before you open your mouth and look stupid.
Not sure if Tomlin’s words were twisted or what. But Tomlin needs to wise up on some of things he says to the media, sometimes he tries to be too cute.

You know, I made an innocent post to you about the expectations of a FIRST-ROUND pick, smile and everything. I’ve made similar friendly posts to 8ball. I don’t worship football players. But I keep forgetting that I’m dealing with people who have the mentality and emotional maturity of eighth-graders who are incapable of adult reasoning and incapable of polite conversation. They ignore my many posts condemning Ben’s egomaniacal behavior, and assume that when an adult woman realistically assesses a player’s TALENT or analyzes the evidence in a legal case that it’s really some code for idol worship or “I want to screw the guy.” The biggest problem on these boards is that most of you need to grow up.

Ahem, Pittsburgh Post Gazette’s Ed Buchette calls out this story and THIS DOOZY FROM FLORIO specifically as BS! According to the PG+, Buchette said the national media twisted Tomlins words to create a non-story. Ben has ZERO chance of not being on the field game 5 and the only reason he was not voted a team captain was because he wasnt going to be there for 4 games…moron hack!

YES!!! Finally Tomlin developed a brain. However, PFT is wrong about Dixon. They will go 3-1. Did you see the schedule of the first 4 games? Weak… except maybe the Ravens but Lewis and Reed are getting old.
Ben wasn’t voted one of the captain’s of the team and not guaranteed a start after 4? OMG!! What a slap is that from his own teammates and coach! Well deserved #7 fat ass!! He has no respect from his own team. I don’t think he ever did… He has a Mr. God complex.

Why is the text in BOLD? Tomlin meant that he’ll make that decision when it has to be made. How much practice will Ben need to get up to speed. 1 week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks? Tomlin may keep Ben out until the New Orleans game. Then again, if the Steelers are smokin’ then don’t mess with it. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it!
Having Ben back won’t be some panacea. The verbal abuse may have an affect on the team. People will be booing for the rest of the season including the Superbowl.

She’s right. Art II said words to that affect, that their investigation came to the conclusion that he did not commit this crime. The Steelers, Ben, and the NFL all had their own investigation teams. They all concluded the same thing.

The DA in his press conference said no rape occurred and that he prosecutes crimes, not sin, and he hopes the accuser learned her lesson. It doesn’t get much clearer–unless you are a braindead rival fan. The Steelers’ investigators and NFL Security met with him and returned with this information, which is why the Steelers have supported Ben’s efforts to turn his life around, rather than trying to trade him as Florio erroneously reported. And that’s why Goodell did not allude to sexual assault in his suspension letter but focused on Ben’s drinking and image. 1+1=2 Most of us learned simple math in grade school; I’m sorry you didn’t.
I post regularly on a variety of issues and team threads at PFT and CFT and have since long before Roethlisberger’s troubles in Georgia. You woud know this if YOU didn’t limit yourself to these threads. Why the obsession with someone else’s team?
I write for a living, but don’t work in PR. Aw gee … why didn’t I think of contacting Roethlisberger’s agent and asking to be paid for posting the stuff I’m writing already? Rats!

Not one of those examples you list involve a Super Bowl winning QB losing his job to a non-Super Bowl winning QB. In each case a mediocre or sub-standard starter lost his job to a better player. Clearly not the case here.
