NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has taken a lot of money out of Bengals receiver Chad Ochocinco’s paychecks. A $25,000 fine for violating the league’s Twitter policy. A $30,000 fine for putting on a poncho and sombrero to celebrate a touchdown. A $20,000 fine for pretending to bribe an official. A $10,000 fine for a black chinstrap. A $5,000 fine for an orange chinstrap. And so on.
But Ochocinco says he has no hard feelings.
In fact, Ochocinco says he has a great relationship with Goodell — and that he gets better access to the commissioner than any player in the league.
“Goodell and I talk all the time,” Ochocinco told Ryan Wilson of FanHouse. “We talk all the time. I think I might be the only NFL player that has his personal cell phone number and email. . . . I’m dead serious.”
Ochocinco also said he understands that Goodell is concerned about the way people view the league.
“The league has an image to uphold but I’m not one of those who breaks that image. I’m sort of like that bad kid,” Ochocinco said. “But I’m not doing the things that hamper the image of the NFL.”
Overall, Ochocinco says, he sees Goodell as something of a father figure.
“Roger Goodell?” Ochocinco said. “That’s my dad.”
A dad who frequently takes away his son’s allowance.
Ochocinco is good for the buttoned down NFL. His antics are fun and good natured. Even Bill Belichick loves 85.
I think he makes the league a little funnier and more entertaining. If he was doing things that weren’t safe for the other players, that might be actionable, but just goofing around is funny and good for the spectators.

As much as I may get a little tired of his attention-seeking ways, I certainly don’t think the guy is bad for the sport. He tries to have fun with it and doesn’t care about the fines. Now, granted, if they were fining him a couple million for each infraction, the story may be different, but good for him. He goes out and performs pretty much every year.
Hahaha as a Steeler fan, I hate Ochocinco, but as a football fan I gotta love him. He knows how to make the game entertaining. He is always good natured with his antics too, never anything disrespectful.
Someone call this union, this message is so out of line, they need to get on him.

Roger is similarly fond of Och underneath that gruff exterior. When they get together Goodell always brings a few kibbles with him and scratches Och behind his ears.

Whining is different than comparing, simply COMPARING the fines for two seperate acts, one a purposeful and violent head twist during a preseason game that would have drawn a suspension if it had happened to any of the QB demi gods in this league, and the other a tweet, a harmless on at that. Sounds like YOU are the one with a problem, I know Hemerroids hurt and itch, and subsequently make you irritable, but like with yeast infections, they DO make great OTC cures. Eat me

The league looked at Suh’s hit and determined it warranted a $7,500 (meaningless) fine. Accept it. I assume you pussies will come up with one excuse after another as to why the Browns will never amount to anything. And that’s coming from a Detroit Lions fan. I feel sorry for Coach Holmgren, he is a truly talented, decent guy. He deserves better fans, and he will have a better coach.

As a teacher this makes sense. I always have more interactions with the “trouble makers” and as long as their not crossing any lines I don’t mind. These kids (like chad) need more attention to perfrom better. Some people just thrive on the extra attention.

He has a 30 million dollar contract and is heading into an option year (the option will of course, be picked up). He has plenty of money and he knows how to spend it. He won’t be pulling an MC Hammer.
