Brett Favre leads Vikings to halftime lead

Brett Favre is back, and despite throwing an ugly interception, he has the Vikings leading the Saints at halftime of the NFL regular-season opener.

Favre made a bad decision and threw the pick under pressure, but the Saints weren’t able to capitalize when Garrett Hartley missed a field goal. And late in the first half Favre threw back-to-back beautiful passes, the second of which Visanthe Shiancoe leaped to catch in the end zone to give the Vikings their first lead of the game. The extra point was blocked, and the Vikings lead 9-7.

Favre is 11-of-15 for 127 yards in the first half. Saints quarterback Drew Brees got off to a great start and is 15-of-21 for 148 yards, but since throwing a touchdown pass to Devery Henderson on the first drive, the Saints haven’t scored.

Now the second half begins.
