Dolphins admit costly mistake in Jake Grove

In one of Dolphins G.M. Jeff Ireland’s first days as the official boss in Miami, he admitted one of his and Bill Parcells’ biggest mistakes.

Miami cut center Jake Grove on Thursday, just one year after the signed him to a five-year, $29.5 million contract with $14 million guaranteed. It goes down as one of the worst signings by any team in the last few years.

The Dolphins have really struggled to settle their interior offensive line throughout the Ireland/Parcells era, especially at center. The team signed another former Cowboy Cory Procter to take his place. Joe Berger is the team’s starter.

It would make sense if the Raiders were interested in bringing Grove back into the mix.
