Jags' home opener will be televised, too

We found out that the Rams’ Week One game against the Cardinals will be televised in St. Louis because we received notification from the team to that effect.

We found out that the Jaguars’ opener will be televised in Jacksonville because former Jags left tackle Tony Boselli, who has become an ambassador for the team’s efforts to sell out their stadium, sent us a message via Twitter.

“[I]fyou are in Jax this weekend you can catch the Jags game on local TV,” Boselli said.

Though some will brush off the sellout of all non-premium tickets as a product of Tim Tebow returning to town, there’s chatter that the first four or five home games will be televised locally.

It’s great news for the city, and for the team.  The locals needed to step up, and they did.

Congrats, Jacksonville.

And, yeah, I’ve picked the Jags to win on Sunday.  Rosenthal didn’t.

It’s unlikely Tebow has had any significant effect, since there have been no single game tickets available. To get a ticket to this game in a non premium seat you either had to buy a full season ticket, or a half season ticket.

Broncos never win in Florida. Jags is the only pick until that trend stops.

FLORIO! That cold exterior is melting away! In addition, the first 5 Jag home games will NOT be blacked out as well. We still have a long way to go, but it’s finally nice to see a national media outlet give us some props!

    Thanks Mike!
Blackouts are a thing of the past here in Jax! Boselli and company did a great job this offseason. Now it’s time to win the games. First up, destroy Tebow and the Broncos. I can’t wait to be in my seats for another season of Jaguars football!! Go Jags!!

Well, at $9 a ticket they should be able to sell out every game.

Where were these $9 tickets? Mine cost $66/game.

Tebow had ALOT to do with it. To buy a ticket for Broncos v. Jags you had to purchase 5 additional tickets. Cement headed NFL fanboi’s, don’t kid yourself it was for any other reason. After this, get ready for the tarps. It is a shame.
A Son of Jacksonville is coming home, y’all should be excited for Tim, Jabar, Marcus & Brian.

Ignore BradyGazelle. Just another clueless fanboy who can’t form his own opinion. Shouldn’t you be busy worrying about your QBs fender bender, praying you don’t get Baltimore in the playoffs again (if you get there) or scouring the internet for another opinion to pass as your own?

False. Don’t buy what people like Don Banks and Adam Schefter are selling. You are wrong. They are wrong. The Jaguars sold two 5 game packages for this season. The one that did not include the Broncos game sold more than the one that did include that game.

  14. harloeisdead says: Sep 9, 2010 5:01 PM

@BAtkins- Oh, you want some too? Flex packs were distributed with THREE other tickets. The alternative flex pack, with all our divisional games, sold twice as much as the pack with the Broncos game in it. Oh, and the tarps are there to stay. They are removed in order to accomodate all the people they pack into the stadium for the annual GA-FL game, one of the biggest sources of income for the city. With the tarps in place, the stadium STILL seats 72,000, on par with stadiums around the nation. Go do some research and come back.

WRONG……..get your facts right…….70% of the new season tickets bought were bought BEFORE Tebow was drafted……and the half-packs that were sold…….the one WITHOUT the Tebow-Denver game, outsold the one WITH Tebow, on a 2 to 1 basis……..they sold TWICE as many of the OTHER half-pack…….SO……NO…….Tebow had very little to do with tickets sold in Jax……..

We come to PFT for the quick posts relating to player gossip, personnel movement/contracts and the latest twists to mini-dramas like Haynesworth v Shannahan.
That said, I find it odd that you think we actually care who you think will win any given game. I’d rather listen to you talk circles about your stupid collusion theories than listen to your game predictions.
This is the TMZ of football – a guilty pleasure. But listening to you act like an expert in football is no less painful than listening to Hedi Montag talk about politics.

  17. Carly Syms says: Sep 9, 2010 5:14 PM

Ah, let these guys like BAtkins63 spout their nonsense. Pretty soon, this whole Jags-to-L.A. nonsense will fall by the wayside and they’ll move on to their next ignorant argument.
I’m tired of correcting them. It’s time to let the ticket sales speak for themselves. When the national media is unable to report that the Jags had all (or all but one, etc.) home game blacked out this season, it’ll all go away.

  18. dafish says: Sep 9, 2010 5:16 PM

Good job fellow Jags fans. Let’s keep it up.
Seeing as how we get pissed that the national media dictates that one year is a trend, we gotta keep it up for years to come.

  19. samh says: Sep 9, 2010 8:32 PM

florio you can speculate that tebow sold out the stadium for this one, but the season ticket halfpacks WITHOUT the denver game sold about twice as many, so…

BradyGazelle say tickets are $9 ,you’re an idiot BAtkins63 mentions the tarps, again. You’re a clueless idiot.
You know what’s funny. Florio mentions the Jags game is sold out and will be televised and only 19 comments so far. Last year when he wrote the game will be blackout out, there was over 100 comments about LA Jaguars and such. It’s funny how the little weebles stay in their caves when something positive is wrote about the Jaguars. Just wait, if we have the first 4-5 televised and 1-2 final games aren’t, they’ll come out of their caves yet again. That’s what weebles do.

OK genius. List the games in the half-pack that were included with the Broncos’ game. You’ll get your answer.
Your ticket office is selling you a load of bunk, and you’re buying it. My brother was able to purchase single game tickets for when his fav. team visits the Jags and did not have to get caught up in some Snake Oil B.S. Albeit at $89.00 per ticket, but he didn’t care about the price.
Nothing against the Jags. I’m just not a big fan of the NFL, especially when they realigned to create multiple divisions then added the wildcard. It’s like they want every fat kid to get a trophy. The NFL reminds me of WWE or WWF, or whatever they’re calling pro wrestling these days. It seems scripted. The league is now built for all teams to be 8-8, with a select few slightly above the .500 curve. Rest your starters when the division is locked up? Hogwash!
I check in with the NFL to see how my fellow UF allimni are doing, and wish them the best.

I have $10,000 that the tarps will be in full force this year, as well as last year, and if the Jags are still in town, the tarps will be in full effect next year too.
To see that stadium rockin’, you’ll have to get you one of those standing room only tickets when UF & UGA are in town.
    Now, who’s the idiot, idiot?

    ————————————————
Now who’s the idiot you ask? You are and you are making this too easy. Look let me inform you, idiot of a situation for which you have ZERO clue. The stadium was contsructed too large for the Jax market at the time. Without the tarps the stadium holds 72,000. Outside of the Redskins and Cowboys and maybe 1-2 more large market teams there is not another market, especially small market hat has 72,000 capacity. So the tarps were added make Jax on line with other small to medium market teams which in now 62, 274 just like EVERY other small market team. All of this info is public record and you can even go right now and research it. I’ll even throw you a link now so you can actually see how much of an idiot you really are. Here’s Jacksonville attendance #’s before ONE BAD attendance season. http://espn.go.com/nfl/attendance/_/year/2008/sort/homeTotal/order/false
16th overall in attendance and 19th in average attendance. I’ll even crunch the numbers for you. We had more overall attendance than 16 other teams in the league. Some even large market teams. Now go back and look at previous years. See a trend now. 2009 was ONE BAD SEASON………………IDIOT
