Man ticketed in Tom Brady crash has long record of bad driving

The man who was ticketed for running a red light in the car crash that involved Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has a terrible driving record and has already, at age 21, had his license suspended multiple times.

But the man’s family is complaining about a lack of sympathy from the public, and asking why people only seemed to care if Brady was OK.

The Boston Herald reports that Ludgero Rodrigues, the driver of the minivan that collided with Brady’s Audi, has had violations for everything from speeding to driving with a child not properly strapped in to refusing to take a Breathalyzer after an accident to driving with “improper equipment” to driving with a suspended license.

Police say Brady had a green light when his car ran into Rodrigues’ minivan as it drove through a red light. Rodrigues was ticketed.

But at least one member of Rodrigues’ family says she’s upset that no one seems to be showing any sympathy to Rodrigues’ father, who was a passenger in the minivan and was injured in the crash.

“Why? Because we’re poor, we don’t have money, because Tom Brady is famous,” Rodrigues’ aunt told the Boston Globe.

Obviously, she’s right to the extent that Tom Brady’s fame is the only reason any of us knows about this accident. But according to the police, the only reason the accident happened is that a man with a long history of bad driving drove badly again. Brady was the innocent victim in this crash, and it’s only natural that our sympathies would lie with him.

Ms. Rodrigues, I’m sorry your husband was hurt in the crash. I’m also sorry that your son is a sorry driver.
Perhaps you can take the insurance money from the accident and buy your son a bicycle instead.

So what you’re saying is, Brady…the guy who feels defenders rushing his blind side and avoids getting sacked, avoids a rush by using only his peripherals is an innocent victim because he was unable to see a mini van haulin a$$ through an intersection after running a red light?
I’m no NFL quarterback, but when I drive through an intersection after the light just turns green I look for idiots that to just this sort of thing and you’re saying the booty chin himself is innocent simply because he is Tom Brady? I’d say 75/25 fault wise.

Actually, I heard a number of people on tv say that they hope no one was seriously injured in the crash. Good thing he was driving a good car with a seat belt on. First off, I have to say that I have a serious issue with this. Everyone seems to whine about their own lives, despite their failures. ESPECIALLY if its their own fault and shouldn’t get sympathy. He was obviously at fault for the accident, yet no one feels bad for him and his passenger who got hurt? The injured party should have known the kid is a terrible driver…
This kid is possibly the worst driver in Massachusetts, and that’s saying a lot because there’s some god awful drivers in the Western part of the state. You’re talking about someone who’s had their license for no more than 5 years and has ALL those violations? Worst of all, is that’s only the times he’s been caught…
The reason no one cared about anyone but Brady is because he is in the national spotlight, but it doesn’t help that this driver shouldn’t have a license to begin with, and if he got as good as a slap on the wrist as he should have, then he might not be out there running lights and hitting celebrities…
If this kid’s aunt wants some of the spotlight because her nephew is one of America’s worst driver, you just gave it to her with this article… How does it feel, Ludgero??? Now rip up your license and buy a bike, and complete living the life as the soon to be real life 40 year old virgin!

  31. Patsfan1776 says: Sep 10, 2010 12:59 PM

  42. Fecteau says: Sep 10, 2010 1:11 PM

    Angela,
I agree with you. If the light is green, you SHOULDN’T have to look both ways. The point of having a rd light green light system is to speed up the process. Its safe to say that he was way off too, because most green lights turn green 2-3 seconds after the other light turns red, so he was way off and slammed into him. You can’t assume the light just turned green for Tom and also JUST turned red for the moron…
Good point Angela I got your back!

  43. donnyp says: Sep 10, 2010 1:11 PM

Not the best comparison I’ll admit but because all of you ride the wagon for the Patriots you’re forgetting the picture is of BRADY’S FRONT END SMASHED. My comparison simply means if you can see a person in pads rushing at you and react in less than 4 seconds to get the ball to a receiver, how the f— can’t you see a car flying through an intersection. Simply put, Tom Brady was paying as much attention as the idiot he T-Boned. God help me for not worshiping his every move and thinking he is the end all be all.

  45. drumbug71 says: Sep 10, 2010 1:13 PM

My initial reaction on Thursday was that the media was kind of smearing the other driver and painting Brady as the victim. So I can see somewhat where the victim’s family is coming from.
But, come on. You ran through a red light, it’s really your fault. Even though you got T-boned by an Audi, you need to follow the rules just like everyone else.
Also, every news report I read or saw so far has mentioned the “other driver” and has given updates to his condition. It wasn’t all Brady-centered. And, the NFL Network even said “We obviously are concerned about the other driver, but since this IS an NFL show, here is what we know about Brady….”
In all honesty, I don’t think many people own the other driver on their fantasy league…

Ok, so this guy gets his license in 2006. MA law says: 7 violations within 3 years is a mandatory 60 day suspension.
His first suspension comes in 2008. We’ll estimate it comes in Jan. of ’08. So since then, he’s had at least 4 more violations, that each have been contributing to his “7 violations within 3 years” rule (cause they just don’t get erased after you get your license back).
Either way …5 suspensions times 60 days per susp. That’s 300 days of suspension….holy sh!t. That leaves …900 days or less thats gone by since begining of ’08…he’s suspended 300 of those 900.
    DAMN!

I’m no NFL quarterback, but when I drive through an intersection after the light just turns green I look for idiots that to just this sort of thing and you’re saying the booty chin himself is innocent simply because he is Tom Brady? I’d say 75/25 fault wise.
    ——————-
Wow, the haterade truly makes people retarded. I cannot imagine at all going through a green light, having someone run a red, and be able to avoid impact. You, sir, win the stupidest comment of the day award. Saying a lot for this site.

“The Rodrigues family has decided to sue Brady for (among other things) being rich, famous, handsome, smart, educated, articulate, popular, having pale skin, perfect teeth, and blue eyes. “Eeets not fair”.”
I’ve read some funny shit on this sight but this made me piss my pants. My stomach hurts from laughing.

    Er, um…. wrong.
The person who runs the red light is 100% wrong. Sorry. I realize it’s tough to grasp.

Clearly not from New York. It’s called DEFENSIVE DRIVING you morons.
As for Panda_Claus … Jaws of life had to be used because the doors were smashed in. Brady got out and walked around….. Simple math here…this leaves 1 car left that got hit. CLEARLY, as drumbug71 pointed out…what was brady doing at the time HE drove into the side of someone that ran a red light. I don’t know how you people do things in MA but here in NY, it’s called no fault. Unless you’re rear ended, there is NO FAULT. This means, there is something you could have done to avoid the car accident. The 1 time there is no fault is if you get rear ended and don’t hit anyone in front of you. Forgive me for pulling a Florio with terrible humor.

With Brady’s new deal he can afford to replace the POS Audi with a whole brand new fleet of Biebermobiles.

It could have been much worse. Ludgaro’s father was slightly injured, but 11 other relatives riding in the van escaped unharmed.

We need this little cretin asshole on the roads like we need a hole in the f’n head. You should be apologizing for your ilk potentially seriously injuring someone instead of bitching about your well deserved poverty.
Your worthless punk nephew doesn’t have the decency to consider the safety of not only others on the road but his own flesh and blood driving with him. I’m glad your loser family is poor. You deserve that and worse.

I’m not saying it’s the case with this family, but stupid, lazy people who like to blame others for their woes rather than take responsibility seldom get rich.*
*unless they can get a lawyer to sue a smart, rich, hard working person when they crash into him

The stupid kid should be made to work in a body shop for 5 years for free and learn to appreciate a fine car.

damn right I’m a typical new yorker. No exposing here though…
by the way…it’s I (k)new as in you believe you obtained information of this theory. I “new” is just an uneducated sounding phrase. You may have taken my partially sarcastic comment way out of context but at least I maintained proper grammar throughout my poor choosing of words. (I say partially sarcastic because most of the paragraph was merely an ill-advised attempt at sarcasm while trying to make a point that everyone blows Tom Brady)

  105. JohnnySkamps says: Sep 10, 2010 5:36 PM

While i’m sure people feel sorry for the victim they also know that they would not drive through a red light, especially with their father sitting next to them in the passenger seat. The family’s apparent lack of money has nothing to do with Tom Brady’s fame. I could crash into Matthew Stafford here in Detroit and elicit the same response. Duh! Tom Brady’s family and friends and Pats fans should be happy he was not driving a few miles an hour faster that morning or he would have been broadsided and possibly killed. Get this driver off the road NOW! If a car had been in the wrong spot in that intersection, a life would have been lost.

  106. clubfoot says: Sep 10, 2010 5:50 PM

The driver was heard saying he misinterpreted the rules of red yellow and green lights.

  107. cutler_eats_it says: Sep 10, 2010 5:57 PM

Grammar was fine…it’s your weak attempt at defending your position that I find so ridiculous. Attack my typing, grammar, spelling skills all you’d like. I’m just sayin’ …you jealousy of TB goes way beyond Pats fans love of TB.

Any bets the “poor” family has contacted an attorney already? A decent attorney will find someway for this to be partially Tom’s fault. Not saying it is his fault cause it souns as if it isn’t, but poor money grubbers like to clog up Mass. Blue courts. Thank God I left that socialistic state.
