Maroney questionable for Patriots; Odom to start for Bengals

The injury report is out, and we’ll periodically highlight some of the more notable names and players that could miss action this weekend.

For the Patriots, running back Laurence Maroney (thigh), wideout Julian Edelman (foot), and cornerback Kyle Arrington (knee) are questionable.  Right tackle Nick Kaczur (back) is out, but not out for the year, as many feared.  Cornerback Terrence Wheatley (foot) is also out of the Patriots’ inexperienced secondary.

Maroney’s role in the Patriots backfield remains a big question mark.  Basically he’s around to fill in for whoever gets hurt first between Sammy Morris and Fred Taylor.

In Cincinnati, rookie safety Brandon Ghee is likely to miss the game.  He’s doubtful with a head injury.  Wide receiver Andre Caldwell (groin) and running back Brian Leonard (foot) are questionable.  We’re not really into listing the probable guys.

Defensive end Antwan Odom is healthy, and the Cincinnati Enquirer confirmed he will start.  Odom tested positive recently for a banned substance.

Bengals coach Marvin Lewis wasn’t happy with the reports — including one from PFT — that surfaced about Odom and he wasn’t happy with Odom addressing the issue.

“It’s unfortunate that someone did what they did and Antwan foolishly responded,”
Lewis
said. “It’s no one’s business but his. Unfortunately it’s something
that guys go through all the time. Obviously a couple guys played last
night [in New Orleans] who have been through that who are still
playing.”

  1. What the hell. The dude’s been injured since he was drafted. I’m a fan of his, but this is getting crazy.

  2. Odom+ ban substance= no suspension!
    Ben + No charges= 4 game suspension.
    Whats wrong with that picture?

No question mark. You nailed it.
Is it a successful strategy? I still wish they had Heath Evans for a lead blocker, put it that way.

Only foolish stealer fans think nothing happened with Ben. He’s got a documented history of inappropriate behavior with women dating back to when he was in college.
Just because the police (who mishandled the case from the beginning) couldn’t prove it, doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.

The Bengals are such a classless organization. Suspend the loser.

Pot…..Kettle…..Black? Your defensive “leader” is a murderer. And you’re ok with that? Bum

  7. No mention of the report by NFL.Com’s Steve Wyche which say’s sources close to the situation confirm that he fail for PRESCRIBED MEDS?

You guys should be ashamed of saying stuff like this:
“Odom believes he has strong arguments in favor of a reduction or a reversal of the appeal.
Then again, so did Brian Cushing.”
    And
“We are committed to being skeptical in this regard, given that the league’s steroids policy allows the player to say whatever he wants, with the NFL unable to set the record straight.”
This is clearly not comparable to the situation Brian Cushing was in. With Florio being a lawyer and all you would think he would presume innocence until proven guilty but in fact he believes people guilty and have to prove to him their innocent..

  8. Dude put on 35lbs last offseason. Went from a bit player to 8 sacks in six games then his achilles popped. Nah, he didn’t take steroids.

  9. @ Steelers Rule
The difference is your guy raped 1 or 2 women while Antwan just took his doctor-prescribed medication.

  10. You think the hoodedone? Cause a full grown man putting on 30lbs of muscle in three months is commonplace. Sure he just took a multivitamin, ate lots of protein, and lifted heavy. No massive amounts of HGH or sterons to see here. Nah, cause athletes would never lie, or cheat to gain a competitive advantage for millions of dollars, that is just ludicrous.

    Documented? Where?
Source please, unless you’re just talking out your ass…

    Doesn’t mean it did either.

Jungle Juice got it right..plus if you wanted to read the report, there is sooooo much damaging evidence against Ben that he`s lucky not to be at state run prison for a long time, let alone able to play some football this year!!!!!
