Pete Carroll is a liar and a cheat, but I will say it’s nice to see someone have big enough stones to try and stop the runaway pay train. Guys like Locklear should thank his lucky stars every day he’s making even one million dollars. He’ll be a free agent next year, sign somewhere for the veteran minimum and be happy about it.

Smithopher: Locklear isn’t blindside protection. He is a right tackle. He remained a right tackle even after Russell Okung suffered a high ankle sprain. The Ruskell regime thought him to be a replacement for Walter Jones, the current regime does not.
He was shopped around. When no takers were found, he was told to take a pay cut or get cut, at which point his best option is to play somewhere for league minimum, if he can find anyone willing to sign him at this point.
The dude gave up a sack to Jason Babin in the preseason and basically didn’t look good at all. Stacy Andrews was brought in and is considered an upgrade. Andrews may even start opening day, with Locklear on the bench.

You offend me because of your stupidity. The majority of folks who responded to the article obviously are not intelligent enough to understand that he literally to not pay 2.5 million for a haircut.
It is an old phrase that was used when a person takes a large pay cut or loses a large sum of money. In this case he was making approx. $6million and had his pay cut to $1 million to stay with the team for one year and lose his job next year. They did it to Julius Jones last week and Kellen Clemens was shown on tv during Hard Knox this process.
Furthermore, non-Seahawks fans-refrain from commenting on the Seahawks unless you have knowledge of the team. It is a team you bandwagoning Cowboys, Steelers, Giants, Patriots, etc fans know nothing about. The Hawks are obviously rebuilding so we will suck this year and the next few. I hope Pete sticks around long enough to get talent in here.

First off, Locklear isn’t the blindside tackle. He’s the RT. And the previous regime gave him LT money because they expected him to take over once Walter Jones retired. He tried to play there last season and was awful. And honestly, he’s not a very good RT, either. What the Seahawks did was to stop paying a mediocre RT like a solid LT and by lopping off the last 2 seasons of the contract, they made this a contract year for him.

Smithofer, you obviously don’t know much about the Seakawks or Locklear, but he doesn’t have anything to do with protecting Hasselbecks blind side because Hasselbeck is a righty and Locklear is a right tackle. Yes, Ruskell, the genius, paid Locklear starting left tackle money, but if you knew anything about Locklear, you would know that he doesn’t offer anything along the lines of protection no matter where he plays. And as soon as Okung’s healthy, Locklear won’t be starting anyway. Even after the paycut, he’s still disturbingly overpaid. But keep on with the calling the Seahawks morons even though you don’t have the slightest clue of what you’re talking about. Genius.
