Favre does drive ratings, but to say no one outside of New Orleans cares about the Saints is either ignorant or just blatantly stupid. The Super Bowl last year was the highest-rated TV program of all time, and no Favre was in sight. When Indy played in the SB 3 years earlier, the ratings weren’t that high, so I’m sure the Saints had something to do with it.

It was a very good game. So what if it wasn’t the offensive firepower show everyone wanted. There have been a lot of great defensive battles that are good games. It’s good to see that the Saints can win even without the game being a shootout.
It’s also good to see that the Vikings can lose without 5 turnovers.

it’s easy to go unopposed by anything new(new tv season starts i believe in 10 days), featuring the once again return of Favre, the “feel good” Saints, the start of the season on prime time NBC and get a huge rating. There will be no rating sunday in jacksonville. There will be no rating in quite a few other Markets who aren’t selling out. Yes the fans love them some NFL but watching TV for free is one thing, paying a butt load of money when you’re struggling to pay your bills to come to a game is another, and then to have your TV coverage hijacked by this is another. You simply can’t point to one factor and say everything is sunny. The other day it was sunny outside but because it’s been sunny just about every day this summer, my lawn is brown. The owners have some ammo whether you want to believe it or not!!!

Here are a few observations from I thought was a VERY good game. Either team could have have won. What you had was the best offense in the NFL going against the best defense in the NFL. At the end the Saints did just enough to beat the Vikings. Both team are VERY capable of being the Super Bowl again. Brett Favre can still sling a football he will be a factor this season. It was obvious he was just rusty. The Saints are still the team to be in the NFL no doubt about it.

favre had one bad game get off his ass.. and with numbers like these how can nfl and union not agree to terms.. thats just tv sets its on.. not how the stadium was jammed and each tv had anywhere from 2-10 people watchin it.. nfl is crazy popular and more popular than any sport in america..nfl will def lose popularity if they go on a strike even for half season..

I’m Pleased the World gets to see the Demise of Brett Farve. Not only that, they get to see how a primodonna quarterback looks less than average because he REFUSES to get on page with the structure of his team.
Also, Bernard Berrian is the Worst. If it was not for the heavy Hauling of Adrian Peterson, the Vikings would not have moved the chains.
The saddest part of it all is the Vikings Defense. They SHOWED up and showed out. It is not their fault that their Primodonna quarterback could not generate offense.
The Vikings is now known as a Defensive team and Adrian Peterson.
Brett Farve is a non-factor

People tuned in because – honestly – they want to see the Diva (Favre) fall flat on his face… which is pretty much exactly what he did. He had two nice passes during the game and spent the rest of the time looking like a panicky, floundering rookie. Ouch.
Btw, I’d like to use this opportunity to thank my parents for good genes. I’m two years older than Brett Favre but look at least 10 years younger. That guy is an OLD-looking 41.

Very underwhelming game IMO. Brees started out like an MVP, but was very average most of the game. (his receivers didn’t do him any favors, but neither did Favre’s) Favre looked and played his age, and both defenses were OK, I guess. Not bad for a 5th preseason game, but very mediocre for a season-opener.
