Cowboy fans are you serious saying the Redskins got lucky??? If the Cowboys are as great as you think why didnt they put points on the board. Yeah they moved the ball until they got to the 30 and then what? Haslett has said this D will give up yards since he got here. So does it really matter if you put up 400 yards and cant score more than 1 TD? Say whatever you want to make yourself feel good though

Johnny Mac is correct. Barber should have stayed in to block. The pass has to go to the endzone. Very little chance if thrown into the flat. Has anyone noticed how small and weak Barron looks in his upper body. Very strange for an NFL lineman. I think that a lack of dedication to the weight room is his primary problem. If you aren’t strong enough to push with the big boys … you hold. On that play, he held right away, not after he was beaten. I’ve seen enough Romo escapes to think that without the hold he wouldn’t have necessarily been sacked. I’ve given my share of crap to Romo in these comments, but kudos to him for leading a great drive to end the game.

Shanahan’s new subjects certainly were radically better than anything the Snyder/Cerrato/Zorn trio fielded last year, but that ain’t saying much. However, this year’s OL is light years ahead of the shattered mess we fielded last year. McNabb was upright almost all of the night so, unlike Jason Campbell last year, McNabb had the luxury of surveying the field to decide where – or if – he’d toss the ball. Defense took advantage of Dallas’s puny OL and pretty much kept the team out of the red zone until the 4th quarter. Special Teams did a credible job overall, but I’m sure they will (and should) hear from Danny Smith re. several of their plays – including some of the ones they made and some of the ones they didn’t make, but should have.
As for the “Boys” who many predict to be Super Bowl bound this year – their Offense looked confused throughout the game, their much vaunted Defense looked formidable – until Ware went down and thereafter it looked average – and their Special Teams certainly did not cause us much grief.
Stay tuned, this is only Game #1, so let’s see what happens over the next 5-7 weeks. One thing that has disgusted me for years is the noise the fans at FedEx Field make when the ‘Skins have the ball. I have even known those idiots to do the Wave when we have the ball. It doesn’t take a PhD degree to figure out that when your team is on the offense, shut up – so your players can hear the QB’s count and so YOUR QB can hear what it is the coach call in do next !! It’s too bad such morons have the money to attend the games because obviously, they haven’t a clue about what is going on, nor do they care how/if/when they can be helpful.

Everyone who is bashing the cowboys for losing to washington has no clue what they’re talking about.
It doesn’t matter how bad washington has been for the past decade+, every time they play dallas it’s a tough, close, low scoring game. And dallas beat themselves. To say washington outplayed dallas is just biased and dumb. But, a win is a win, so I’ll shut my lips.
Just know, cowboys won’t look like that again next week. Bears getting destroyed.

On the last play, Garrett and Co. completely blew it — again.
As soon as Barber, who lined up on the right side of the backfield, saw Orakpo 1-on-1 with Barron he should have stayed in for max protection.
Instead, he slipped out into the flat?!?! With 3 seconds left, there is no way Romo would have dumped off the ball 10 yards short of the goal line and have the game end.
In other words, Barber basically made himself worthless on that play. Stay in and block, help your teammate who was overmatched much of the night.
If Barron knew he had help, he could have played it differently (i.e., not hold).
It’s the attention to detail (or lack thereof) that continues to plague this team.

BTW, I want to be clear about one thing…even though I am gleeful that the Skins got the win, I do NOT think the Skins played great. They produced no running game until the 4th quarter and once again they can’t put it in from the Redzone. These are the same kind of offensive problems we had last year and they have to be corrected or we’ll still lose more than we win. Houston will not give us the game as Dallas did.
Defensively, we were much better. I liked that we stayed aggressive late in the game. At the same time, “giving up the late drive to lose” is also Classic Redskins 2009.
The big difference is that we stayed a bit more disciplined and did not turn the ball over. That shows that Shanahan at least has it going in the right direction. There offense is not good enough, but that is not the same as making stupid mistakes, which we did a lot last year.
Progress, but a lot of work still to do.

Players decided the game last night, a hold is a hold. An OL isnt allowed to go for a rear naked choke.
Both defenses played well, but whose defense came up with the big play? The Skins.
I don’t care how many first downs, yards the Cowgirls got, how many points did you score? Not enough.

Blah, blah, blah….if the Redskins don’t take the points off the board then the Cowboys aren’t even within 1 score at the end of the game. This is loser talk. I really, really, really hope the Cowboys think like you, “Oh we are so great…we just made a few mistakes but really we won.” Whatever loser.
That said, I agree with you that the Redskins offense did not look good. Look, the Redskins are a work in progress. They’ll be lucky to go 7-9. Still, it’s sweet to beat the overhyped Cowboys!

This is so much BS. Alex Baron decided the fate by holding, not the ref. Are you saying that the Cowboys should be allowed to hold and score TDs? That’s just stupid. You sound like a little kid crying because he got caught doing something wrong. The Alex Baron hold wasn’t close, it wasn’t controversial, and Romo may have been sacked without it. The refs called it fair. If they DON’T call the foul, then they are “deciding the fate of the game.” That’s just stupid.
