Packers banged up following Eagles game

The Eagles lost their starting quarterback to a concussion Sunday and two other starters, possibly for the season. Compared to Philly, the Packers got off easy.

Running back Ryan Grant suffered a “pretty good” ankle sprain and it will be a “challenge” for Grant to play next week, according to coach Mike McCarthy.  Grant only had eight carries before the had to leave the game.

Defensive end Cullen Jenkins suffered a broken hand, but it sounds like he’ll try to play with it.

Backup end Justin Harrell, however, suffered a “significant” knee injury.  It’s yet another injury setback to the annually injured 2007 first-round pick, who finally looked ready to contribute this season.

I feel really bad for Justin Harrell – a kid who has never given up and finally seemed like he was on the way.

  4. lebowski says: Sep 12, 2010 10:34 PM

Ryan Grant is only marginally better than Brandon Jackson, for better or worse. Depth the only concern there. The other two guys… yikes. Thanks again for being a complete dumbass, Johnny Jolly. Hope that purple drank was worth it.

I was sorry to see so many injuries to both teams.
I guess the only solace is that they didn’t seem to be the result of unsportsman-like play.
I guess this will be the end of the road for Justin Harrell. He was unfairly lambasted as “bust”, due to an injury incurred while weight-training, prior to a previous season. Will he get the entire season’s pay as an injury settlement?

Sucks for Harrell. By all accounts he worked his tail off all off season and was playing pretty well. Some guys are just snake bitten I guess.
Cullen is a tough SOB, so I don’t think a broken hand will slow him down much.
I feel OK with Brandon Jackson starting against the Bills. No need to rush back Grant right now.

I do not know Harrell, but he is Thompson’s second favorite player after the love of his life, Aaron Rodgers. He should never have been drafted and Thompson did it just to spite Favre who was peading for an offensive pick. Now Thompson won’t cut him because he has to still prove his manhood. Sorry TT, you have no hope in that category.

Sucks about Grant. Kinda saw something like this happening to Harrel, Packers wasted a roster spot on him.
Cullen is tough, he’ll play through anything that doesn’t limit his movement.
Time to line up 2 Te, Quinn Johnson leading, with Kuhn rushing the ball. Or bring back Jumbo and throw Bulaga or Lang next to Tauscher. Truly smash mouth football.

This team is fairly deep, they’ll be fine. You’re over medicated if you think the Pack will lose to Buffalo, Chicago, and the Lions in the next 3 weeks.
I’d worry about my own team if I were you..Mr. 0 and 1…with more to come. BTW…is Jared Allen hurt, or is he just taking the season off and saving himself for the playoffs? Clay Matthews is making the league his bitch…and the league’s

Here’s to hoping you guys pick-up Mr. Locker Room Cancer, Vincent Jackson. I’m sure all the depth at wideout will pay off when Favre and TJ are on the IR.

Yeah, after giving up more points in 2006 than all but 7 teams, they should’ve gone offense with their first pick. You’re absolutely right.
Harrell was definitely a miss, but it’s not like guys with injury histories never pan out. What about Adrian Peterson? There’s a guy who missed more than his fair share of college games due to injury. How did that pick work out?

As someone who’s not a Vikes or Eagles fan, I am starting to wonder what game the Green Bay fans were watching?? That was a horrible game on both sides(Besides Matthews and the always stellar Woodson). Packer fans alway claim on here that Viking fans are the most disrespectful and arrogant… From a completely objective point of view, I think the Packers fans might be the worst and most disgusting in the whole league. There is like 3 vikings fans on here that constantly say stupid sh*t, and they deserve the flack they get, but there is 100’s of Packer fans all over that are completely immature and lack logical reasoning..

    ________________
Probably the same way you morons managed to talk trash last year when The Vikes beat the Pack twice heads up, and when GB was 4-4, and Minny was 7-1. Or how you kept trash talking when Minny won the division. And, when GB laid a 51 point egg in the Wild Card, and the Vikes were playing in the NFCC game, youjust kept talking.
And now because the Vikes, not at full strength, lost to the defending champs on the road by 5, we as fans can’t talk trash to a team who squeeked out a win over the only team to lay a bigger playoff egg last year than GB, being led by a QB who hasn’t started a game since before his prison term.
By the way, what happened to the preseason MVP? 180 yards and 2 picks, rather pedestrian. What about the “best TE in the league”? 4 catches for 47 yards, where were these match up problems he was going to create? Or that “vastly improved O line”, which gave up 3 sacks. That puts ARod on pace to nearly match last year’s total. Even you, the ultimate homer, have to be a little concerned about what you saw Sunday.

  36. Majik Bullet says: Sep 13, 2010 2:51 PM

    Canned Man Gravy
So the mighty Saints D didn’t put Favre down, so now one of these other ones will? The guy hasn’t missed in 20 years, a defense who was admittedly gunning for him couldn’t knock him out, so now you’re touting that weak Philly D as top 5 in order to what, scare Viking fans? Do you think we honestly care about the opinion of a Packer fan who keeps admittedly keeps man gravy canned for his personal use?
By the way, the Philly D really is just average. I know you want them to be really good because they stifled your “juggernaut,” but the truth is is that preseason hype machine has been exposed as the overrated group it is, for the 2nd year in a row.

Absolutely the opposite. They didnt prepare for Vick like they would of if he was going to play full time. Hes a player you need to scheme for. The offense played horribly against a decent Philly Defense and scored 27 points and won at one of the leagues most hostile venues. ARod stated “I played terrible” “I missed throws I make in my sleeep” To play this poorly and then get the Vick twist and win gives me tons of optimism.

  39. TheBaySay says: Sep 13, 2010 4:23 PM

Rodgers will get criticized by Mini fans no matter what. If the team wins and he plays well he’s just a stat whore. If he plays poorly and the team wins then he’s a bum. Exactlyright21, – 3 bad-mouthing Vikette fans and hundreds of abusive Packer fans? I’m guessing maybe you moved here from Chernobyl where you were born after the meltdown, leaving you with three fingers on one hand and hundreds on the other. Question of the day: Why do fans of a team whose symbol is a Viking have such a problem with Matthews’ long hair? Majik, the Saints rushed three against Bert most of the game and still put pressure on him. At least you’d better hope they did because otherwise he and his receivers just plain stunk. If scoring 27 on the road in the rain with your #1 back out for more than half the game against a D your own TE Vinsante Whatever said is good is getting “stiffled,” then “stiffled” isn’t what it used to be. We’re 1-0 and happy, whether we’re overrated, underrated, or just plain rated.

Im really not into the NFC North Division as i am an Eagles Fan i dont like either Vikings or Packers but i like the Pack a bit more and hey we lost like alot of us thought we would but it wasnt a blow out either like many expected either.
Sure Kolb had a horrible game but he doesnt have the experience like Vick to handle game time pressure, im not trying to defend kolb but it is the truth either QB can help us try to rack up wins im a realist if we dont go to the Playoffs im not going to complain we just worry about next year and see from there..
Look our Offensive line is what needs the help and you guys got a great team but im glad we lost to a very good team only by 7 and we limited Aaron Rodgers from doing further damage that he is usually use to doing so im proud of our D

  41. Majik Bullet says: Sep 13, 2010 4:47 PM

    Super
How did they not plan for Vick. Anyone who plays the Eagles this year has to be anticipating a healthy dose of him, even without an injury to Kolb. The Pack not having an answer for him is just bad coaching.
And yes, everyone knows Rodgers played terribly. That’s the point. All we heard all preseason was how great ARod and Finley are, and then comes a game that counts, and they disappear, just like I said they would. Incredibly overrated, even Troy Aikman commented on how the “juggernaut” failed to show up.
And this was against a decent (term being used very loosely) defense. What happens when they play a good D, like the Jets or the Vikes, especially since those teams probably won’t be playing their 2nd string QB’s who haven’t had extensive playing time in 4 years? So when you say you’re not worried, you’re either a liar, or a fool. Based on what I’ve seen from you, I’d say alot of both.

OK Super, so if they had a scheme to shut him down on the select plays he would be in, why did that scheme not transfer to him playing the second half? The whole time he was in the game, he was the glorified Wildcat QB he has been his entire career, just a step slower.
Even if he had only been in on Wildcat plays, he would have done the exact same thing he did playing full time. Look to pass, then tuck it and go when nothing was there, to the tune of 270+ yards in one half. To not be ready for that is bad preparation, caused by poor coaching.

I full understand that GB wasn’t ready for Vick, I get it. And that’s my point. They should have been. Vick’s role in a Wildcat is to look to pass, then take off running. Exactly the same as what he did when forced into the lead role. If they had a plan in place for the Wildcat, it should have translated into being able to somewhat contain him on an every down basis, which was just an extended version of the Wildcat. The coach and players can rattle off excuses all they want, it boils down to poor preparation, caused by bad coaching.
But of course a homer like you believes any garbage that the boys in charge spew out.

  51. Majik Bullet says: Sep 15, 2010 4:36 PM

It’s not that I think that I know more, it’s just that I have the ability to think for myself and call a spade a spade. I don’t have to just blindly follow and agree with whatever the coach does or says.
Of course the players are saying that, they’re being good soldiers, and I give them credit for that and for not publicly blasting their inept coach.
But honestly, what would you expect MM yo say, that he wasn’t prepared? Of course he wouldn’t say that, he knows how much is riding on this season. With those lofty expectations, and gray beard lurking to the west, he knows another 6-10 dud while watching the Vikes rattle off another division championship spells the end for him. And with a season opener that saw his high powered offense look completely flat while gaining less than 300 yards, and his defense getting worked over by a rusty ex-con who’s lost a step, the last thing he’s going to do is admit he failed as a coach, and nearly cost them a game versus a mediocre team.
Unlike you, just because a guy has a million dollars, or is in a position he is grossly underqualified for, I don’t feel the need to accept whatever garbage they spew out. Get back to me when you take the blinders off and get a mind of your own.
