Max Starks to miss a month

We told you last night that the Steelers starting left tackle Max Starks has a high ankle sprain.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter has confirmed the news, and reveals Starks will miss about a month.

The question now: What will the Steelers do about it?  Flozell Adams has been inconsistent at right tackle, so moving him to Dennis Dixon’s blind side could be an option.

On Sunday, Jonathan Scott took Starks’ place at left tackle.

  1. If the owners are dead set on going to an 18 game season they will have to.
    1) Increase salaries.
    2) Increase to a 60 or 65 man roster.
    3) Increase to a 15 or 20 man practice squad.
If they don’t, after and 18 game regular season and additional playoff run the Super Bowl will end up being played by players signed off the street that week.

  2. Jonathan Scott was an upgrade in play over Starks on Sunday! Steelers playing preseaon standout Tony Hills at LT and Scott will backup. If Hills plays like he did in the preseason Stark’s Max might find himself riding the bench when he returns.

  3. Aside from the first couple preseason games Adams has been more than adequate at RT…don’t see them moving him unless Scott or Hills flops at LT while Starks is out

I could never understand why they have never given Tony Hills the opportunity to play somewhere. He seems to be one of their more athletic guys. He is a bit of a finesse guy, but I have really liked what I have seen of him in limited action. Hopefully he gets his opportunity. It may be that he just doesn’t practice well.

  5. Have to agree with cmich06. Aside from the first two preseason games, I haven’t seen any noticeable drop off at RT.
I don’t see the Steelers moving Adams unless Starks’ replacement falls on his face.
