And if you really need to hear it, which I thought I clarified by mentioning the 6-10, trading Favre was a dumb move.

Congratulations, you're dumber than anyone thought possible. Clearly, it was all Rodgers' fault the Packers went 6-10 in 2008. I mean, his individual numbers were almost identical to Favre's in 2007. It's his fault, not the defense that gave up an additional 100 points.
Keep peddling that shit, though. It's always good for a laugh. Name one "expert" who thinks the Packers made a mistake in trading Favre and keeping Rodgers. Just one.

Yeah, Picket is so outstanding that Ted drafted 2 more DT's in the first round.

Usually GM's draft for depth in the latter rounds. 1st round guys are supposed to see the field right away. And you don't tie up 2 first rounders and another big contract in Picket for one position. Keep drafting for depth and pretty soon all you have is decent backups, and no starters, kind of like GB's offensive line.
And to the guy who wants to blow Favre, it's funny how you criticize Favre for not getting it done in the playoffs, or tossing a pick that caused overtime, not the loss, genius.
But how convenient for you to leave out Rodgers' playoff failure. By the way, how did the Packers' season end? You see, the fumble-punt actually did end GB's season. 18-15, 0 playoff wins, 0 division titles.

Butt--
You are a F'n moron. Are you kidding me? The Packers are set at QB for the next decade. If TT keeps Favre, Rodgers leaves for sure and they are then screwed. Favre has proven that he simply is not good enough in the playoffs to take a team all the way. 1996 was one of the best squads in football.....and it was the last time Favre played well in the postseason. They had plenty of chances since then, and they usually ended in failure because the Big Ego threw a stupid interception with the game on the line. His playoff record since 1996 simply sucks. TT and MM knew his limits. They knew what they had in Rodgers. They knew that it was Favre or Rodgers, and Favre was trying to yank them around anyway. TT's decision to tell Favre to go to hell was not only ballsy.....it was genious. But a simpleton idiot like yourself Butt would never understand that.
Typical of Viking fans.......stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid.
By the way.....how did your season end again last year? Ohhhhhh, that's right......Favre threw a pick. Go back to your hole.

Butt--
I see you have no response to my claim that TT's decision to kick Favre to the curb was genius.....so clearly you agree with me.
You mention that the only decent FA signing for TT was Woodson. Two points on that note. One---he plucked a guy who was thought to be washed up....and that guy went on to win the NFL defensive MVP a few years later. Two---Ryan Pickett is an outstanding DL.
Like I said....Spielman has been better, but TT has been pretty F'n good.

So mattgso, it's easy for you to dispute that Spielman has a higher winning percentage than Ted? Or that Ted took over a perennial winner, Spielman a non playoff team? Or the fact that Spielman has brought in more Pro Bowlers in his shorter tenure than Thompson has?
And while I'm not going to provide the in depth breakdowns you so pine for, I will give you a simple, yet very effective evaluation of overall talent. Minnesota is 22-10 with 2 division titles and an appearance in the NFCC game over the past 2 seasons, while GB is 17-15, with not even so much as a plyoff win.
And don't you find it a bit ironic that the guy harping on opinions is firing them out freely, and baselessly? Why will Favre not repeat? Because he's 41 instead of 40? What logic are you basing this on, other than your extreme desire for him to fail so you can sing the praises of your failed GM? I could just as easily say the same about Rodgers, but I won't, beccause speculating that a guy will fall of for no reason is pure idiocy, which explains your opinion of Favre not repeating.
----------------------------------------------
Pick a stat that favors vikings and one can be found to counter that favors the Packers.
They don't hand out trophies for singular stats. Singular stats are not independent of each other. Anyone can focus on the stats that favor their position. Advanced people look at the whole.
TT made the right decision for the future of the organization. He thought beyond one season. If that means I'm singing his praises, so be it.
I think faver will fail because his o-line is on the decline, schedule is not favorable, and at this point in his life, his can check his "tell me you love me" needs through 1 or 2 loses. Sure he'll have a few great plays but my gutt tells me they will be significantly less than last year.

While these may not be iron clad facts, they're pretty hard to dispute.
And I can understand one missed word or comma. But 2 words and a comma in one short sentence. Not buying it.
-------------------------------------
They, your OPINIONS, are easy to dispute. What's the in depth roster situation of each team? You have a position by position break down? Who was available? Scouting reports? Or you ust going by feel-good homer instinct?
What you buy is on you. You're opinion is not valued enough to try to sway.

mattgso says:
Right as in fact? Your opinion is fact? See any flaws in that logic?
I missed 2 words and comma. That shines lack of proofreading. The rest is assumptions and opinions.
Doesn't matter how many times or ways you type it. You view is not fact. Just a bunch of blow-hard nonsense sprinkled with your dictionary word of the day.
Comparing picks and trades for 2 different teams is meaningless.
___________________
What did I say that is so invalid? That Spielman has done a better job than Ted? That Hawk, a top 5 pick who didn't play a down of D while healthy is a bust? While these may not be iron clad facts, they're pretty hard to dispute.
And I can understand one missed word or comma. But 2 words and a comma in one short sentence. Not buying it.
And you, the guy who wants to blow or be blown by Favre. How is Ted a great GM? Is it his barely above .500 record after taking over a 3 time defending division champ? His 2 losing seasons? Or his trading of Favre for a 6-10 record? Perhaps his wise use of 1st round picks, and his failure to sign free agents aside from Woodson?
As for your reasons for Favre failing, you schmucks were saying the same crap last year. And he proved you wrong. So stop throwing crap against the wall in hopes of it sticking, and try using logic. He's playing with the same OL as last year, has all but one of last year's weapons, and he'll be returning, and a very good defense.

Majik Butt--
You are dead on about Spielman outperforming TT. He has....not even close. But Spielman has probably outperformed every GM in football the past four years. Everything he touched has turned to gold. Hats off to him.
TT is a very good GM. He made the move of the decade by telling Favre NO, and sticking with Rodgers. That call took balls, big-time balls.
AND.....your Queens gave the keys to the city to Favre.....and this is the year it bites them in the a$$. He is playing with limited resources.....a sh!tty OL.....and he is 41. The Vikings will blow up the team after this year. And this year's team will be lucky to finish .500. They just don't have the guns that the Pack do.
Sorry man.....you lose again. Don't you ever get sick of losing Butt.

So this is your lame attempt at defending your total lack of knowledge of some of the most basic NFL transactions?

No Dilber it shows how you skew your opinions and try to call them facts.
Yes typo on my part: dropped a couple words and the sentence made no sense. I ADMITTED that error.
You can play GM fantasy league all you want. But the trades, FA signings, and picks address different needs. Not apples to apples as convenient as that would be for you.

Lot of effort trying to wordsmith yourself into being a knowledgeable fan.
You're painting many, many things with a broad brush so it's beneficial to your opinion. It's obvious you're conveniently igonoring many other factors.
If it all happened in a black and white vacuum you'd have a good argument and a job as GM.
But it doesn't and you don't.
Keep trying.

And by the way mattgso, you don't give away picks for Free Agents, that doesn't make sense. You can trade picks for a player under contract, but you can't trade a draft pick for a Free Agent, who would you be giving the picks to?
And that is the type of stupidity that typically warrants me to insult your incredible lack of common football knowledge. Now, just go away as to not embarrass yourself further.

News flash: your written words typically are "bla bla bla... Gay-Bay.... bla bla bla..... Ted is a vampire...I nailed your mom". So you'll understand that all these "profound" (note the sarcasm) statements you make don't stand out.
Spielman, Jeff Garcia look-a-like, has only been in place since when? 06? 07? Likes to give away picks for FAs. When your house of cards falls this year, you'll be calling for his head.

Nice try there chief, but now you're just making stuff up in a feeble attempt to save face. I've never said "Gay-Bay", I have never used the Teddy Vampire line (although I have laughed at it many a time), and I never resort to childish taunts involving one's mother. I'll insult someone's intelligence from time to time, with good reason, but that's about it.
But let me get this straight, according to you, my statements don't stand out. Yet here you are, responding to my threads, one right after another. And you have to lie and falsely accuse me of things I've never done in order to defend your own asinine actions.
As for Spielman, yes, he arrived in 2006, one year after Ted. So that makes their tenures fairly comparable. And in Spielman's one less year, he has brought in more Pro Bowl players, has a higher winning percentage, and has won more division titles, all the while taking over a non playoff team, while Ted took over a 3 time defending division champ, with 4 straight playoff appearances.
And what's wrong with Spielman trading away a couple picks for an All-Pro DE like Allen? Should he have held onto that first rounder, and drafted a guy like Harrell or Hawk?

But let me get this straight, according to you, my statements don’t stand out. Yet here you are, responding to my threads, one right after another. And you have to lie and falsely accuse me of things I’ve never done in order to defend your own asinine actions.
As for Spielman, yes, he arrived in 2006, one year after Ted. So that makes their tenures fairly comparable. And in Spielman’s one less year, he has brought in more Pro Bowl players, has a higher winning percentage, and has won more division titles, all the while taking over a non playoff team, while Ted took over a 3 time defending division champ, with 4 straight playoff appearances.
And what’s wrong with Spielman trading away a couple picks for an All-Pro DE like Allen? Should he have held onto that first rounder, and drafted a guy like Harrell or Hawk?

Umm, like I've said many times before in regards to this subject, and even mentioned it in this thread,
---------------------------------------------------------
News flash: your written words typically are "bla bla bla... Gay-Bay.... bla bla bla.....

I was using Big Tony as an example of why to not dig into the past for draft busts, to show why it was foolish to bring up Erasmus and Williamson. My mentioning of Mandarich was intentionally unreasonable, but you're not quite adept enough to comprehend that, are you?

Majik Butt--
It didn't matter last year because the Vikes started against CLE and DET and had a healthy Rice, Harvin and Chester Taylor. They now start out with two tough games and none of the above. Favre looked like sh!t last year the first few weeks. He got by because of the team around him and they played crappy teams. Not happening this year. Favre's arrogance and ego will be the death of this team if they don't beat Miami. 0-2 in the NFL is a death sentence. The team will realize that much of the blame falls on Favre and they will implode.
I don't know how you can say Favre played better than Rodgers. He lost.....and most people understand that they would have won if the Great Ego had been in camp. Rodgers won a tough game on the road. Sorry pal.....you lose.
