Adalius Thomas remains on the Jets' radar

After Jets linebacker Calvin Pace went down with an injury, the Jets considered signing free-agent Adalius Thomas.

But they opted to wait, given that any vested veteran who is on a team’s roster when the season begins will be entitled to receive his full salary if he’s later cut.  After Week One, the rule changes.

The Jets apparently remain interested in Thomas.  Per a league source, he visited the team on Monday.

Upon conclusion of Monday night’s game, the Jets can sign Thomas and any other vested veteran without guaranteeing his salary for the balance of the year.  Coincidentally, the Jets host Thomas’ former team — the Patriots — on Sunday.

Of course they are going to sign him today. That way they can pick his brain for all the information they can to prepare for the game on Sunday. Then next week they will let him go again. That’s the way the Jesters opperate.

    Out: Thomas Jones
    In: Ladainian Tomlinson
    Out: Kerry Rhodes
    In: Brodney Pool
    Out: Lito Sheppherd
    In: Antonio Cromartie
    Out: Leon Washington
    In: Joe McKnight
Out: Calvin Pace (at least for now)
In: Jason Taylor (and possibly……Adalius Thomas? Seriously?)
Also, Bryan Thomas got his 1.5 sacks yesterday. Guess he’s just about finished for the year.
    Out: Kris Jenkins
In: ????? (He was out most of last year, too, so we’ll call it a push)
Does anyone really think the Jets are the team to beat?

I can see it now, Rex sitting in his office, thinking, how can I ruin a perfectly good Defense…..hmmmm…I know, lets sign Adalius Thomas. This defense needs another me first player that cant stay within the scheme and free lances all over the field….

They can pick Thomas’ brain all they want …… there’s nothing there. Dude never cracked open a Patriots playbook, which is why Bellichick gave him the axe.
In fact, they’d be doing New England a huge favor putting this clown on the field on Sunday.

Patsfansince73 is correct they will sign him to pick his brain about the Pats D. Not sure it will help though, AD didn’t seem to know much about the Pats D when he was there, what does he know now that would help. Also the Pats released OLB Marques Murrell this week, more likely Rex will go after him for info, he was a jet at one time afterall.
Its just sad really, if Ryan turns out to be as big a bust as Sanchise is looking to be, what does this say about friggin Tannenbaum? Maybe Woody needs to clean house completely. Bring Back Parcells!;)

they don’t need linebackers they need a qb

  7. FinFan68 says: Sep 14, 2010 1:31 PM

Jets were 3-0 with Jenkins last year…6-7 without him. This hurts more than some think. Thomas is washed up and at least 31 teams know it.

Would have made a huge difference last night.

Don’t be naive, they all do it, Pats just did it with Marques Murrell.

Why do you even read these articles & then post on them?
Bringing in Thomas would be a good move. He adds depth & bolsters 4th quarter pass rush.

Please sign him Jets. I’m a Pats fan. He will teach you nothing about the scheme, since he never learned it, and it has changed. Give him a pile of money. Make it happen Rex.
Adalius Thomas. Grab him. I beg you. Put him in your locker room.

Clearly you didn’t watch him during his time in New England.

Does the truth hurt? The Jets were an average at best team last season and they got worse in the offseason. Just wondering why anyone would think they’re setting the league on fire.

JaMARKus Sanchez will take the NYJest to the promised land; #1 Overall pick in the 2011 draft

It would be a GREAT signing…….if he could play QB.

Listen, your free to do whatever you please, but I just find it childish to seek out opposing team’s articles & post on them negatively & off subject. Start your own Jets hate blog if you wish too, but your pointless acts show the class of which you are.
    @Richm2257
Watched him plenty or lack there of as a Jets fan. Clearly, the Pats got him to be OLB in a new scheme for him. He’s not good at alot of things that contribute to him being a subpar at best LB. But he thrived playing the 46. He’s a tweener, cover a flat here & there but mainly used to shoot gaps. History shows the guy gets to the QB, just because the Pats vanilla pass rush couldn’t justify his pricetag doesn’t mean hes worthless. Now Vernon Gholston, thats another story, he is worthless…

It would be a score if he could play offense. Haha, or coach offense for that matter. Holy crap did Shottenmypants call a crap game or what? I don’t care about Sanchez checking off after seeing the formation. It’s difficult to not like Rex Ryan, on some level – he gets who he is and what he’s doing… even if his father presented the opportunity.
But Schottenmypants is friggin terrible. He just comes across as some snot nosed kid cashing in on the reputation his father created. I think he should be tuning up his skills at a high school, maybe a Division III or NAIA school and then maybe in a decade or two – coming to the NFL. Or maybe just accomplish SOMETHING before holding your head up. He’s going to kill that team – and no amount of sucking up to Rex is going to translate into a win.

Rex needs a former Patriot to be his captain Sunday.

I think it’s funny when stupid people try to sound intelligent. Also, seek out opposing teams articles? I had something to say about the Jets, so I said it. There’s no reason to get your panties in a bunch just because somebody pointed out the truth about your band of heroes. Go down to the sack exchange and pick one up.

Overpaying Thomas and drafting guys like Maroney with first round picks are the thing that have brought the Patriots back to the pack.

  22. smithopher says: Sep 15, 2010 2:24 AM

he’s another body at OLB, can’t hurt if there’s no long term commitment involved. rex ryan has worked with him before, he might be good in certain situations like the 1-5-5 the jets brought out a few times… 5 linebackers blitzing, well i want jason taylor, david harris, bart scott, and calvin pace definitely. bryan thomas showed he’s improved, but if adalius could come in and get after the qb better that’d be nice. its too bad kris jenkins is out man… they need to go after someone to play NT, pouha needs to start at DT this year. kroul isnt gonna cut it with the first stringers the way rex ryan wants to play.

  23. CremeBrunell says: Sep 16, 2010 11:53 AM

I can’t believe he hasn’t been signed yet.
