In March, the Vikings signed kicker Rhys Lloyd, in the hopes that he’d tilt the field on kickoffs by banging the ball into the end zone on a consistent basis.
The only problem? Kicker Ryan Longwell beat Lloyd out for the job.
So now Lloyd has returned to the team for which he last played, signing with the Panthers. Darin Gantt of the Charlotte Observer reports that Lloyd signed on Tuesday. To make room for him, the Panthers waived rookie Todd Carter, who lasted only one game in the kickoff role.
