It wasn’t inflammatory. It wasn’t in the least. That being said….at least to me, it comes across like he’s sticking up for Sanchez because Sanchez is too big of a girl to stick up for himself. If Sanchez was REALLY a respected leader in the locker room (and by the team….and the coach), Rex would have said “Well, you’ll need to ask him about that”. Instead, he went off on how great Sanchez is (which, honestly, rings a little hollow)

Listen what Bruschi said is right, now he’s not saying that Sanchez sucks, he’s just saying that he knows the way to beat Sanchez which is really true because until he proves that he can overcome being down by a touchdown or two and lead the team to victory with his arm, that’s how you beat him. Bruschi isnt saying that Sanchez will always be like that, he’s saying that’s how he is now and maybe Sanchez heard what Bruschi said and will improve on that.

Sure and then the media and public criticize most in football for being robots supplying stock football cliches…. but than everyone gets crazy over someone like Rex that actually answers things the way he feels.

PFT and others parse from nearly every article, interview and press conference involving the Jets and Rex to create this almost self fulfilling machination of Jets hype and talk. Rex certainly could do a better job IMO of not fanning the flames but today’s 24/7 hype machine plays a role in creating almost as large as it does in reporting (e.g, Florida Koran burning disaster).. to ignore that is silly.

I love how people act like the way someone responded was the ONLY way they could have responded, because they were asked a question. There are literally an infinite number of ways Rex Ryan could have responded. He could have said anything from “Tedy’s right. Sanchez is a bum” to “Apple Apple Gorilla Hello”, or he could have wet himself and ran off the stage. He also could have said something like “I’m not going to get into that” or “Mark is a big boy, he can speak for himself” or anything along those lines. Just because he was asked a question doesn’t mean he needs to give ANY response and certainly not THAT response.

Did you all even read what this post was about? … Bruschi comments as an analyst were innocuous and harmless, someone of course had to ask Rex about them and he responded as in a very restrained manner. Yet PFT feels a need to present this as some war of words or debate… and then another call back to hard knocks. I don’t recall every moment of Cincy’s season last year being analyzed in light of hard knock happenings but maybe i missed all those posts.

Let me get this straight, Tedy Bruschi, 3 time SB winner, 5 time AFC Champion, Pro bowler, Comeback Player of the year after a stroke, etc, wishes he was Mark Sanchez (no accomplishments in the NFL, other than having worse numbers than JaWalrus Russel?). I am in favor of saying, it is too early to know what Sanchez will become in this league, but to paint an accurate picture of what he is right now isnt ridiculous. Bruschi, and all of the posters that apparently want to be Sanchez, must just be haters for pointing out that Sanchez so far hasnt done shit……sorry bro, as much as you think all of us are haters, you are showing to be nothing more than a homer at this point….if you think he is the next Brady, Brees, Manning from what he has displayed so far, you are crazy. Because on Mon night, he did exactly what Brusch said he did. They came out, the D knocked the shit out of the Ravens offense, but they failed to generate points, and the smile disappeared, then the lead became a deficit, and Sanchez became irrelevant….

That’s the thing, though. Rex Ryan shouldn’t have to call out Tedy Bruschi. Mark Sanchez, if he was really a leader, would be the one responding….or not responding. Point being, it’s about him so he should control the message. This means that either
a) He isn’t respected enough to have his opinion on how to handle it heard or
b) He asked his coach to stick up for him.
When Tedy Bruschi called out the Patriots defense last year after 4th and 2, it wasn’t Bill Belichick saying “Awww…come on. Don’t say mean things about my defense” it was Jerod Mayo saying “Tedy isn’t here. He doesn’t know what’s going on with us and he shouldn’t act like he’s in the locker room because he isn’t”

As a Ravens fan only one name comes to mind when I see Mark Sanchez play. That name is Kyle “I should have been a” Boller.
The guy has a now fumble prone starting RB, another RB who is injury prone a #1 wideout who catches 1 out of every 3 passes thrown to him and a TE who doesn’t know where the sticks are to get a first down.

Rex’s defenses in Baltimore used to ‘abuse’ the offense in practices all week. He has no respect for that side of the ball.
Worst thing Jets could’ve done is bring in a young kid to lead them on offense.
Look at the way Romo and Brady were brought along. Strong minded coaches who sheltered their QB.
Didn’t embarass him with green, yellow red ‘special needs’ packages.
Now Rex expects you to think he respects Sanchez.

Josh Freeman of the Bucs will soon prove hands down that he was the #1 QB from the QB class of 09. He’s tough, he’s dedicated, AND he’s a natural leader. Matthew Stafford seems to be all of those things too but he has already gotten hurt twice and missed large chunks of the season in both of his NFL years.
