No practice for Percy Harvin

Vikings receiver Percy Harvin practiced Wednesday on a limited basis with a new hip injury.  On Thursday, he wasn’t there at all.

Tom Pelissero of 1500espn.com reports that Harvin did not practice on Thursday.  It’s presently unknown whether Harvin missed due to the hip or another reason.

All other members of the roster practiced on Thursday, according to Pelissero.

The Vikings have only four receivers on the 53-man roster:  Harvin, Bernard Berrian, Greg Camarillo, and Greg Lewis.  Two receivers are on the practice squad.

  1. Damn, that is one stout receiving corp that they have left. Maybe Brent Farve can add another Pro Bowl caliber talent from the local Mississippi trailer park.

  2. There were a LOT of injuries across the league opening weekend. Far too many. Doesn’t bode well for the rest of the season.

  3. This will be interesting to read.
An article stating that Woodson did not practice with the Packers was posted today and Packer fans let it go saying its ok. Im curious to see what their posts regarding Harvin have to say.
Let the hypocrisy that has long been the Packer image begin!

  4. Lame. We need another receiver, at least until Rice comes back. Bring back Javon Walker, trade for Vincent Jackson or trade for our favorite player, RANDY MO!

  5. I hope this equals a trade for V jax… I say this as a Packer fan. V Jax is one of the most overrated WRs in the league, period, and yet they will pay him big bucks, and give up a lot to get him. (by a lot I mean a 2nd or 3rd rounder at least. Which by WR standards this offseason that is very high. Look what Holmes yielded…) What’s funny is they will have two WRs paid as top 10 guys, and not one is named Sidney Rice. Piss off your best WR and second best offensive player? Its the Vikings and Wilf’s way.

god, you’re a genius. one of these players is an established vet who is frequently rested and/or limited in practice but almost never misses a game. the other is 2nd-year player with well-documented chronic migraine problems.
so…I wonder why people would react differently?

  8. Contra-
How is Woodson not practicing relevant here? Given Woodson was there for all of training camp and almost every practice so far. And is a proven vet. Defensive player of the year. Harvin is an unproven 2nd year player who seems to think he deserves veteran treatment after a pedestrian first year. Harvin skipped a lot of offseason tasks and camps and it showed in the first game. He is a second year player that has a long ways to go to deserve the treatment he feels entitled to… The two stories are completely unrelated and the fact you try to connect them is ridiculous. I don’t even care that he skipped today. I hope he skips every day because come sunday Favre and Greg Camarillo will not strike fear in the Dolphins defense and they will lose if they don’t get it together here. What a mess the Vikings have become. And I love it. Bring on V jax! Another over hyped and over rated receiver. You think they would have learned from Berrian and how well that worked out….

  9. You would think, with so few receivers on the roster, the Vikings would have run the ball during the fourth quarter of last week’s game.

  10. I’m a Packer fan who hates the Bears because they are our biggest rival. The Vikings, really, are pretty insignificant. The only effect Percy Harvin missing practice affects me- is I will never chose him for a Fantasy team. He’s to darn iffy and has an old has been throwing him the ball.

  11. Hey Harvin,
Mr. Glass called–said he wants his durability back.
Ever wonder how Failvre was able to play in so many consecutive games?
By (both literally and figuratively) sucking the life force out of his team mates.
Of course, with all the “life force” Childo’s sucked out of Brutt, you’d figure he’d be pretty weakened, too.
    Get ready for 0-2, Excuskings.

  12. If you want hits on this blog Florio you have to have stunning headlines, like for instance…
    “Percy Harvin Practiced!”
See what I did there? You catch the attention of the reader when you announce something happened that rarely does.

  13. Atleast it wasnt a migraine situation again…..although, one can question whether his hip injury was because of his limited action in the preseason….

  14. @Contra
It’s different for the Vikings because if Harvin doesn’t play, we are missing two of our top players at one position.

Just a guess, but they might point out that Woodson had a strong game against Philly after missing practice…
while Harvin played like garbage in NO.
But yeah- just like you, I can’t wait to see!
    LOL- Must be exciting….
Just waiting around, wondering what Packer fans are gonna post about your beloved Vikings.

  16. Waking and baking, Percy has a built in excuse with the migraines.
I never even thought the Fins had a chance until I read this. Injuries are hard to overcome when they come in bunches all at the same position. I just hope the state of Minnesota re-built that bridge strong enough to accommodate the CryQueen fans who will be jumping off with a 0-2 start.

  17. We’re talking about practice man. Practice. Not the game, not the game I got paid to play at Florida, or the one I play as long as I am feeling a hundred percent. We’re talking about practice. I am the offensive rookie of the year and we are talking about practice man.

  18. The Vikings are going to go after those dudes in the wrangler commercial.
Atleast he was willing to show up in time for camp for them.

  19. Well, let’s see. They got him a ventilator for his nose to get rid of his headaches. What will they ventilate to get rid of his hip pain?

  21. Well–hopefully it’s not migraine related.
It’s too bad. He’s an exciting player to watch when he’s on the field. But the reality of the NFL is that you’ve got to stay healthy (or at least learn how to play through injuries).

  22. I thought the Biqueefs had taken care of all their WR needs when they signed and paid (Benedict) Bernard Berrian as a #1??

Woodson’s toe injury was last week he played Sunday AFTER the injury, he will start this coming Sunday.
    Harvin was hurt TODAY.
    Do you get it now?

  24. Contra – “hypocrisy”? Are you talking about Vikings fans who line the streets just to get a glimpse of Favre? The same Vikings fans that made fun of Packers fans for worshipping him?

  25. Wasn’t Favre supposed to be at the gynecologist today? I heard the Summer’s Eve gave him an infection.
Meanwhile, Ted Thompson and Aaron Rodgers watched more re-runs of Favre’s Saintly interception and laughed their asses off.

  27. “An article stating that Woodson did not practice with the Packers was posted today and Packer fans let it go”
They didn’t let it go, it was early in the day and they were all in class at middle school.

Harvin is no vet so he doesn’t get the pass, but woodson does, but Favre doesn’t?
Pick a side of the fence guys, your balls( if you have any) HAVE to be getting sore.

  34. Woodson gets practices off during the season and camp because he’s 33 yrs old, a multiple pro-bowler and one of the best players at his position with or without practice.
Harvin is a 2nd year guy who has to practice as was evident by his performance last week.
Why are we discussing these two players in the same thread anyways? It’s like comparing the Packers Championship display case with the vikings empty shelf in the janitors closet.

Who are you talking about, Woodson or Brett Favre? Because last I checked, Packer fans don’t like it that Favre skips practice and plays in all the games. But if he’s wearing a Packers jersey, then that’s okay. Is that right?

  36. I’ll give you my Packer fan reply…
Who cares if Harvin shows up for practices. He didn’t show up to the Saints game and that was far more important.
Do I think practice is important? Sure. Does that mean a player can’t miss a practice here or there? Sure a player can miss a few. With older guys it’s necessary to make them last.
But sitting out a practice and watching from the sideline and still showing up to meetings and the like is far different than sitting on a lawn tractor. It’s a lot different than not telling your bosses you’re going to miss until the day before. It needs to be a coordinated thing with the team.
But as far am I’m concerned the vikes shouldn’t practice and I’m in favor of them not practicing. I have the polar opposite opinion of the Packer team though…

  37. Packerrube, are you truly that stupid??
“after a pedestrian first year” LOL are you talking about the one where he won rookie of the year……how is that any less prestigious than Woodson’s award?
I read a story on here earlier about Woodson missing practice and not one of you packer fans said anything negative. We get a story about Harvin missing practice and all of you fools are in here posting bs. I love the pack, but you fans are dipshits.

  38. Favre soesn’t practice(training camp) = vilified

    LOLWUT?
Woodson misses practice when the coaches hold him out as a precaution.
But he’s at camp, in town, contributing. Leading. Learning. Acting like a member of the team he’s paid millions to be a part of.
    Favre? NOT SO MUCH.
It’s all the Vikes can do to tear him away from the high school boys he’s playing with just in time for the season to start each year.
All this crap is coming down on that guy’s head this year once and for all- just watch.

i was talking about woodson. Favre isn’t at all comparable to Woodson. People hate favre for his protracted annual show, pretending he doesn’t know what he’s gonna do instead of just saying from the get-go, I’ll be there when I want to be there (after camp breaks.)
but really, now that he’s a viking, nothing bothers me about favre. not concerned with lord brett in the least.

Curious as to when at all I mentioned Favre? The story is about Harvin. My post was about Harvin. I never mentioned Favre. Its funny how absolutely stupid these Viking fans are. Wow.
And as far as the rookie of the year, being as prestigious as defensive player of the year. Well first off the answer is no, its not the same level. Harvin competed with moreno, stafford, and a couple other rookies who generally dont start.
Woodson had to beat out 32×11 players. He was the best defensive player in the league. Period. That is much more prestigious. And even so, is One good year enough to become entitled to what Favre and AP get to do? No. You Vikings and your double standards. I am curious as to how Harvin is being even mentioned in the same sentence as Woodson or Favre. Completely unrelated. Does that mean Clay mathews deserves the same rights as Ray Lewis? HA HA HA HA HA no.
