Jerod Mayo thinks Revis is faking

From Patriots linebacker Jerod Mayo, via WEEI’s Dennis & Callahan Show by way of PatsFan.com, comes an interesting theory that we thought was used only by aging, gray-haired quarterbacks who hope to be perceived either as heroes or heroic.

Mayo thinks Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis really isn’t injured, and that the injury is being used as an advance excuse for being stranded on his own island — or as the basis for trumpeting his performance despite being hobbled in the event that Revis shuts down Randy Moss on Sunday.

“Look, he’s healthy, he’s 100 percent healthy,” Mayo said.  “I’m not buying into that.”

Mayo thinks that the Jets don’t want the Patriots to know Revis is completely healthy.

“I wouldn’t want anybody to know,” Mayo said.  “[I]t’s just a decoy.  So then everybody can be like, even if he goes out and has a great
game, everybody will be like, ‘Oh, he’s the greatest, he has a tender
hamstring. . . .  I’m
not buying into that.”

It’s good to see that Mayo has become so damn cynical at such a young age.  And it’s hard to disagree with him.

Revis is scared of Brady and the hair. He’s setting up himself the way Favre does. To be the “hero” if he plays well or to be a “warrior” if he doesnt play as well. Either way, the hair is coming to Jersey and that could mean trouble for the jets defense whether Revis Island’s Hammys hurt or not. 49. Bradys Hair says: Sep 17, 2010 3:18 PM

Revis has shut down moss. But don’t forget last year when Moss scored on a 4 yard play WITH Revis covering him. What did Revis say about that?.. I believe it was something along the lines of..the pass was “indefensible”. Nice excuse. The fact is even if Moss has only 1 recieving yard, if that 1 yard is a 1 yard TD, then Moss did his job and Revis didnt. And if that TD leads to a Pats win, Revis didn’t get it done.
    Brady Hair. Out.

  50. Bradwins says: Sep 17, 2010 3:23 PM

I didn’t realize anybody had actually considered the possibility that there was anything wrong with Revis. I would say this was an immediately recognizable, transparent red herring on the part of the Jets, but I don’t even think they were trying to actually fool anyone into thinking Revis is hurt. They’re just playing games like the Pats do with Brady’s shoulder. Its all very wink-wink and shouldn’t be taken seriously.

Last year it was Moss making excuses if I remember correctly. Revis already proved he can own Moss why would he make up an injury to seem heroic? The whole thing is ridiculous and Mayo is an idiot for giving the best corner in the league a reason to play inspired football. Not a Jets fan, but you have to recognize someone this dominant.

Of course we don’t even know what form Revis is in right now because the ravens didn’t test him at all. Why go against him, even if he is at 75% when the other’s on the team suck so bad and either give up big plays or cause penalties.
So let Revis claim he “shut down” Moss with an injured hammy, don’t throw at him even once, burn the others in the backfield and roll up 50 points on the Jets.
Yeah, I think the Pats will have the last laugh all the while Revis and Ryan will be all over themselves on how good Revis is.

Dennis & Callahan were asking leading quesitons about the Revis injury. Mayo responded that he wouldn’t want the other team to know if he had a problem with his hamstring. Revis has gotten help from safeties with Moss. But didn’t Moss put up 6 against him in the last game the teams played in Foxboro? It was much different in week 2 last year when Welker was out.

It’s incredible how many “I hate the Pats but I want them to kill the Jets” comments I’ve read on here this week. You can thank Sexy Rexy for that.
Having said all that, here’s to a good game with no injuries on either side.

ol’ Rex has written a check and gone out the back door and left Schottenheimer alone at the bar – guess who gets left holdin’ the bag? Hint, the person weighs less than 350.

who do the Pats have up front that is going to block Kris Jenkins?
i think he is the difference maker…..Jets 31- Pats 10.
    =====================================
Nobody… since Jenkins is on IR. Pay any attention to the NFL, or even the jets for that matter? It’s amazing how many comments, boast and predictions are offered by the completely clueless. Of course, that’s what makes reading this gibberish so much fun. Got to be a Jet fan, if not, at least he’s got the IQ.
