Ravens don’t expect Sergio Kindle to play this season

The fractured skull that Ravens linebacker Sergio Kindle suffered back in July will likely cost him his rookie season.

Ravens coach John Harbaugh said Friday that he highly doubts Kindle will suit up in Baltimore this year. That information was one of many sobering things Harbaugh said about the No. 43 pick in the 2010 draft. There’s no guarantee Kindle will play again.

“There’s no way to predict these things,” Harbaugh said. “You don’t know how the brain heals. It’s different in everybody. We’ll just see how it goes.”

It sounds like recent test results showed Kindle has a lot of progress to make. Harbaugh says the team intends to sign Kindle, but it won’t be your average rookie contract.

The Ravens will “try to sign him to some form of a deal that reflects the situation and give him an opportunity,” according to Harbaugh.

Kindle told Baltimore reporters after hearing the news that his “career is going to be fine.” He wants to sign with the team soon so he can attend meetings.

“Regardless of if I’m playing or not, I wouldn’t mind being the biggest cheerleader we’ve got,” Kindle said.
