First things first: Darrelle Revis’ hamstring injury should not prevent him from suiting up Sunday.
don’t want to hurt your team in any way. If the situation is that
severe, I’ll sit out,” Revis said. “But it’s not. And I’ll be out there.”
Jets coach Rex Ryan admitted he was a little nervous about Revis, but not overly concerned. He expects Revis to play, but said he’d adjust the gameplan if his cornerback isn’t 100%.
Ryan is also nervous about his team’s penchant for penalties in the season opener. So he went old school this week in practice, according to the New York Daily News. Any defensive penalty in practice means 10 pushups for the 10 men on the defense that didn’t commit the penalty.
Like we mentioned yesterday, the trash talk has quieted down in New York. The Jets are desperate to avoid a 0-2 hole to start the year.
“Is it a must-win where you absolutely have to have it?” Ryan asked. “No,
but it kind of feels like it.”
That’s going to turn the rest of the defense against revis…dude holds all the time (he is just a lot smoother when he does it) He will get flagged much more this year now that his fame has exceeded his talent.
Professor Belichik and his assistant Brady are teaching an important lesson on Sunday.
what happened to the preaseason? oh, the tv show.
rex ryan will be fired, after this year or next, he is a clown, we have had great coaches in the nfl, and none have ever acted as foolish as him. NO CLASS
“Is it a must-win where you absolutely have to have it?” Ryan asked. “No, but it kind of feels like it.”
—————-
Since 1990 only 13% of teams that started 0-2 have made the playoffs.
13%
Not a must win? I think the math would tell you something else fatso….
Offense should be doing the push-ups!
Antonio Cromatrie is a father again.
The trash talk has died down because this .500 team has been exposed.
Sanchez is NOT the next Joe Namath and instead will rank somewhere between Cade McNown and Trent Dilfer for his career.
Shon Greene is NOT a star in the making and is instead an average RB being overshadowed in terms of performance by an aging LT
Brian Schottenheimer is NOT Marty
Rex Ryan is NOT Buddy
And the Jets are NOT the Giants
Get used to it Jets fans, you are not even the best NFL team in your state and you do not even deserve your own stadium.
Jets 8-8 (revised from 9-7)
I say it’s 50/50 this guy isn’t really hurt at all.
10 push ups! Jesus, now THAT’S harsh!
10 freakin pushups? What is this, the girl scouts? Yeah, that’ll teach ‘em.
“Anyone comitting a penalty in the game isn’t going out for pizza afterwards!”
Should be a good game.
This will show everyone if the Jets should even be considered a legitimate playoff team.
This game will show that Nacho Sanchez is really not an NFL starting QB and he is more like the other USC QB’s in the NFL. Good 2nd & 3rd string QB’s.
If the Jets lose this game, this team will be in full imlosion mode as the wheels on the bus look to be coming off.
Just another typical year from the Paper Champions who always do their talking in the media and not on the field like their fans.
Funny, how Rex has quieted down his braggadocio.
its a little too late to stop the trash talking now. I’m sure belicheat has the walls filled with rexy’s trash talking from all summer.
The line in this game has reversed…
I think the Jets may pull it out…
/questions his gambling addiction
I got news for Jets fans. you are going to be 0-3 and 1-4, if you are lucky enought to beat buffalo. Your season will be over by mid October. suck on that!
Maybe punishment for continue slop should be NO G!DAMN SNACKS for the offenders…?
That or sewing their mouths shut to stop all the delusional nonsense that IS the NJ Jets.
0-3 start and 5-11 (revised)
After the Jests implode, that’s exactly where the bigmouth Rex will be coaching……..high school. It’s good that he’s practicing up on those “tricks” for his future job. Wonder why the media is laying so low on Bigmouth and the Jests, the entire offseason we had to listen to his and their bravado but now that the games are here and they can’t back up chit, it’s like the media is cutting them slack.
.
Brady usually looks for his most favorable matchups. In this game I believe that is the Patriots tight ends versus the Jets safeties.
.
@EverybodyGotAIDS
Well if practice was anything like the game, thats 140 pushup. Can you do that?
Don’t worry Jets, school starts at 4:15pm on Sunday. I hope you’re not too disappointed when you fail.
the offensive coach should be fired.
1st down marker at the 1 and they go 4 tries into the endzone?????
stop with the wildcat you have 2 running backs to run the ball no one is fooled that he aint going to throw it since they wont even let Sanchez throw it…. let alone fool the ravens defense.
10 pushups? Can they do them from their knees?
too late Rexy…..all that mouth has created a monster you will not be able to control…..8-8 or worse this year and the unemployment line after next season and it is all your own fault…..
That about puts the team as a 1 to 1 pushup to cheeseburger ratio. That’s pretty solid.
chargerrich …you still pissed at us for ruining another one of your golden seasons down there in san diego …….why dont you worry about beating the shitty chiefs before you come on blasting about us losing a 1 point game to a good team …so STFUP ,
When Moss torches Revis for 12 catches, 160 yards and 2 touchdowns, i wonder if Revis and Rex will blame it on the hammy or on the bullseye they painted on themselves with all their comments. Outside of TO, is anybody else stupid enough to do what the jets did to themselves this offseason??? Thank goodness you losers got Cromartie this offseason, HA!!!
.

In other news… Chad Henne looked fantastic in week 1 at Buffalo. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Geez, Im starting to feel a little sorry for the Jets…
We’ll know soon enough how bad the hammy is because Moss will be sprinting about 50 yards down the field on the first play of the game.
They had to do the 10 push-ups with Rex sitting on them. That’s how Revis injured is hamstring.
How convenient. The slouch is coming to town, and Revis suddenly comes up with a hamstring injury.
Bullshit. It’s on Darrelle!
the article forgot to mention that those 10 pushups will be done with rex on your back…thats how you make 10 pushups “worthwhile”
I wonder if Sexy Rexy took away the team’s G*d d*mn snack this week.

_______________
In 10 pushup increments, spread out over an entire multi-hour practice? Ummm…yeah, bro. No problem.
This doesn’t punish Cromartie. He’s used to doing pushups…
…
…
…on top of someone!
@TikiPowerdJetsFan
In my boxing class, we had to do 50 pushups every time someone made a mistake. We’re talking average people with 9 to 5 jobs. 10 pushups should be nothing to a pro athlete. 140 pushups? That’s nothing.
I have a feeling the jets are gonna get crushed this weekend.
1 week is 1 week
The Pats lost 31-0 to the bills in the opener one year
Then they lost again
Then they didn’t lose for a long, long time
As much as I hate the Jets I’ll wait until they are in their grave before I dance on it.
Basing the number of penalties that will be committed in these practices on the number of penalties committed last week, all those pushups are likely to amount to a bigger total than the scores of all the Jets’ wins for the next ten years.
Those guys will likely be too tired to pick up the ball.
I love the Jets fans I’ve been reading online talking about how they only lost by 1 point to a good team.
Well this is true, but you lost 10-9 not 28-27.
You better be hoping your defense starts putting up some points soon because it’s starting to look like the Jets offense will be struggling this season to breach 10 on their own.
Sure the Jets did a decent job stopping the Ravens offensive attack, but it’s not a top tier offense they stopped, so if I was a Jets fan I would be very worried.
Hahhaha, this team has all the ingredients for an implosion. The real issue for the Jets is that their offense stinks and their play calling was brutal on Monday. Sanchez is in over his head and Brian Schottenheimer is clueless and conservative like his old man. “Marty Ball” was pathetic.
@ rsxfan…
The Ravens indeed are a top tier, well rounded offense. Go back to watching tennis.
Tom Brady, Moss, and Welker are over-rated. They have to travel a long distance this weekend to the most hostile stadium in the league.
How can they win when the Jets already feel themselves backed into a corner?
I just dont see the Patriots offense keeping up with the Jets. They will need to score around 28 points on the road with Welker being blanketed by Wilson or Cromartie.
The Patriots Defense is young and will have no answer for the greatest show on grass.
As a Pats fan I’m not going to bury these guys yet. Its a divisional game and many teams level of play goes up and down from week to week. They are going to pull out all the stops like they did in their “Week 2 Super Bowl” last year. I think the Pats will probably win, but I don’t know if it will be the blowout I’d love to see.

Hmmmm let’s compare…
Henne week 1:
21/34 (61.7%) – 182 yds – 0 TD – 0 INT
Sanchez week 1:
10/21 (47.6%) – 72 yds – 0 TD – 0 INT
…not sure you have a lot to talk about there, dumb@$$.
How can that team have self discipline when Fatty McFatFat, can’t stop reaching for donuts and snacks every 5 minutes? Lead by example? Rex Ryan circumvented conventional efforts to lose weight by getting some band placed around his stomach and he’s still a big fatty. Exercising some self discipline is the only exercise the man gets and he doesn’t even do that…., so how can you expect this team to demonstrate any self control when their lead man is completely unable to do so himself?
Bark, bark, bark….., no bite.

Heh, I was actually getting ready to write how stupid your post was until I realized it was a joke.
Subtle sarcasm is the best. Well played.
It’s only week one and I’m already sick and tired of the Jets. I hope they go 0-15 the rest of the way. Collecting all those knuckleheads in the offseason like Cromartie and Holmes was the beginning of the end for them.
pftfanboy says:

Jets will play hard this week it will be a very very good game.
Hoping the Jets pull it out, but even if they fall to 0-2, they have two “bye weeks” vs. Miami and Buffalo to get them back to 2-2.
Then Santonio arrives, and more important Calvin (wrecking crew) Pace returns.
Oh PS to chargerrich – in case you have not been reminded yet this week…THE BOLTS SU-SU-SU-SUCK and the Chiefs are even worse so why don’t you go ahead and sell the rest of your season tickets now. Oh wait, because nobody in their right mind would buy them!!!

Dude, wtf are you smoking?
Can I buy tickets to Rex’s post-game press conference if the Jets do happen to fall to 0-2?
If he is a one-man cursing band before the season when things looked good, I’d like to hear his tirade if they fall to 0-2.

Hmmmm let’s compare…
Baltimore defense
Lousy Buffalo defense
Pennington starting by week 7.
They lost to a decent baltimore team 10-9 in a game they beat them selves in ( dumb penalties and bad officiating), and all you guys are writing them off already. Im not a jets fan, but give them more than one week before establishing them as busts. Most of you guys are retards i swear.

I’m pretty sure the Bills secondary is much, much better than the Ravens secondary minus Ed Reed. It’s pointless to compare QB stats except for one: Henne 1-0; Sanchez 0-1.

@ nitro
honestly – if you cant pick up on the sarcasm in my post…… less football chatter ….. more books.
pftfanboy, Foxboro to E. Rutherford is barely 200 miles. That might be one of the shortest distance any team is traveling for an away game this week.
As for Cromartie and Wilson blanketing receivers, they were frequently out of position and getting beat last week, despite the help of pouring rain making throwing and catching more difficult. Those penalties were not for mental mistakes — they had to commit them to keep from being burned.
Even if they take Moss and Welker out of the game, they do not have the personnel to adequately cover Gronkowski, Hernandez, Edelman, Tate, and Faulk.
Mixing in Pace and Jenkins being out of the game, the possibility that Revis — after missing all of training camp — possibly being limited by injury, and Ryan seemingly willing to run cover 0, the Jets just will probably end up getting torched by NE’s passing game.
Brady and his hair aren’t gonna blow this team out. But they will slowly and methodically put scores up on this defense. By the end of the game we could be lookin at 23-10 or 27-10.
I like it.
Dallas Cowboys: here’s something to copy.
Also hoping Barron’s arms aren’t too long to do pushups…
Are they, Jerry?
Anyone who thinks the Pats are going to rollover the Jets sunday just have not been watching many Jets-Partiots matchups over the past few years.
I mean, the JETS are a wounded, cornered bear. I hate the JETS, but they are going to be tough on Sunday. Smart money’s on the JETS this week.

Yeah, makes a lot of sense to call the Dolphins game a bye week, considering they beat the Jets twice last year. Might just want to hold off on some of that trash talk until your team gives you something positive to talk about. (That would have been good advice for Rex and his boys during the pre-season as well).
Face it, the Jets have put a huge target on their own backs. EVERY team that plays them is going to want to humiliate them.
It’s going to be a long, sad, trip back to New York after they play Miami week 3.
And I’ll make this bold prediction too: The Bills secondary will eat Sanchez alive.
Yes, I said that.

We’ll see. Did you watch the Dolphins/Bills game? The Bills secondary (especially Leodis McElvin) made some really nice plays all day long. I was surprised by how solid their defense seemed…we’ll see if it’s reality or not (especially now that they’ve lost Poz) but they were a lot better than I expected them to be. Their offense, on the other hand, was exactly what I expected it to be.
And don’t write off the Dolphins D either.
Anyone caught committing a penalty, doesnt get to go have a f-cking snack!! after practice
“Smart money” is never on the Jets
Maybe Revis will only be hurt until they offer him MORE money. Only logical.
@ FinFan68
True, but it’s not only about the secondary. The Ravens front seven causes chaos. And you’re right, it’s all about winning the game. See you week 3, hopefully both teams will be 1-1.

please see my post to overkil and nitro.
I don’t have a comment, I just know if Jets fans saw “69 comments” they would laugh and I try to take what pleasure I can away from them. 70 comments and counting…
