Clay Matthews, Aaron Rodgers leads Packers to laugher over Bills

To quote Dennis Green, the Buffalo Bills are who we thought they were.

Predicted by many to wind up with the first overall draft pick next April, the Bills did a lot to confirm those feelings on Sunday in a 34-7 loss at Lambeau Field. Trent Edwards was sacked four times, picked off twice and led an offensive attack that mustered only 186 total yards.

The jury is still out on the Packers, a popular pick to win the NFC, but they did what they were supposed to do against an overmatched opponent on Sunday.

Aaron Rodgers threw for 225 yards and two touchdowns and ran for another one in a performance that was a big improvement over his opener against the Eagles. He showed a particular affinity for Jermichael Finley, who flashed his athleticism by gaining 103 yards on four catches.

The only problem offensively for the Packers was the lack of a consistent running game with Ryan Grant out of the lineup. Marshawn Lynch did the bulk of the work for the Bills, gaining 64 yards on 17 carries, and that might mean an increase of trade chatter linking him to the Packers over the next few days.

There were no problems for the Packers defensively. Clay Matthews picked up three sacks for the second straight week and is definitely your incredibly premature clubhouse leader for Defensive Player of the Year honors. He now has 16 sacks in 18 career games, which makes for a mighty fine start to an NFL career.
