Darrelle Revis expects to miss 1-2 weeks

We told you earlier that it didn’t look good for Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis’ chances to play this week.

Revis confirmed as much Monday afternoon.  An MRI revealed Revis has a strained hamstring.  Revis said he won’t return until he’s 100 percent.

Although he wouldn’t rule himself out for this week just yet, Revis said he was likely to miss 1-2 weeks.  Antonio Cromartie can start preparing for Brandon Marshall this Sunday night.

Didn’t go too well for Chromartie the last few times he faced Marshall.

Should have came to camp on time and not hold out…maybe you would be in game shape…hard to feel sympathy for someone who created this problem themselves…

Cromartie against Brandon Marshall? I’ve seen this snuff film before. Several times before.

  4. Slow Joe says: Sep 20, 2010 3:50 PM

    Holdouts.
It happened to Ryan Grant two years ago. You gotta have training camp to get into shape. And once the hammy is tweaked, it’s never really right all year. Sorry, I don’t think Revis will be Revis for all of 2010.

  5. AlanSaysYo says: Sep 20, 2010 3:50 PM

A strained hamstring, huh? Sounds like the type of injury you get because you didn’t go to training camp and “worked out” on your own instead.

I’ll get in here before these delusional Yets fans spout off with some dumb $h!t and piss me off.
This is most likely NOT where the game will be won. It’s going to be right in the middle of that defensive line for the Yets, where the true scope of Jenkins injury will be realized. Ronnie and Ricky are going to use the Yets defense like a cheap prom date and leave ‘em smelling like used meat. I don’t think the secondary is even going to come into play.
Of course, after the Fins win the Yets fans will just talk about how it was all a gimmick or how whatever phase of the game they lost the game on doesn’t count.
Get ready for another prime time loss Yetsers.

Yes, Mr. Iverson I said PRACTICE!!!

    LOL
Revis and the Jets arrogance will be much better than they EVER will….

  9. DRex says: Sep 20, 2010 3:55 PM

    lol…
    Jets are DOOMED!!!
So they can manage to shut down Welker and Moss without Revis but they will struggle against only Brandon Marshall? With Chad Henne throwing?
This game will be determined by how the Jets stop the run. Miami is all about running the ball, with the occasional pass thrown in.

  10. bailey4mvp says: Sep 20, 2010 3:55 PM

darrelle is good. but he still doesn’t compare to champ or c. woodson in their prime. and isn’t it convenient that he got hurt when he got burned by the “slouch?”

This is why Nhambi Asamugha CB for the Raiders is the best CB in the NFL. He’s a team oriented player who comes prepared. Darrelle Revis is a self-centered ego maniac that thinks his dung doesn’t stink. Sit on the bench and watch your teammates, who make far less than you, play their balls off on Sunday Darrelle!

I’d be really ticked off if I were a Jets fan. Guy doesn’t show up to camp, then gets paid a huge amount of money, and now he’s hurt. He’s a really good player, but he’s useless on the sidelines.

Revis, on the advice of his agents, uncle, and anyone else who is along for the ride, has said he won’t play until he’s 100 percent. The reason being, that he doesn’t want to hurt his potential future earnings, after all, in 2 years he will want a new contract…

Why do people have such a problem admitting a guy is injured? Is nonsense all you people can handle?
Revis was injured last week. He shouldn’t have played against the Pats. He probably shouldn’t have been playing at all, after his holdout, until he was in playing shape.
That said, as a Jets fan I appreciate all the concern about Cromartie. Thing is, he played in a different system against Marshall. And, he’s learning to play more physical. I expect the ‘Fins to come out throwing, and test Cro, Wilson, and the rest of the 2ndary. This is the biggest rivalry in the division… the ‘Fins are going to pull out all stops. The only question is if Schottenheimer will continue to call an aggressive game. If he lets the Jets O play, they should win.

Haha, oh man you must be high on grass, if you are going to say that.
There is a good possibility that neither Pace OR Taylor play this game due to injuries. Now with Jenkins and Revis out and Holmes still on suspension your allstar team looks real tough sitting on the sidelines. Just remember who the only team to put you in your place TWICE last year was. Congrats, you beat the Patriots last week, its funny how you guys bad mouth the team and say much how much they suck until after you beat them, then they are all of a sudden a great team that you just happened to trample over.
2-0 with the most momentum we have had in 7 years and we are now have our first home game on Sunday night Prime Time and you think your injury plagued team is going to all of a sudden beat the team that his kicked your ** for the last 3 matchups?!?! hahah your an idiot.

  41. epping16 says: Sep 20, 2010 5:07 PM

If I’m not mistaken the Jets defense looked better without him yesterday. Jets defense as a unit is good, Revis is solid but way overrated. They probably play better without him because they play as a TEAM instead of worrying about 1 guy “shutting down” one slouch.

  42. FinFan68 says: Sep 20, 2010 5:17 PM

After watching the play, it is evident what happened. He failed to successfully execute his patented hold on Moss and had to race to catch up so he was at least within 5 yards of the TD catch. In his rush, he tweaked his underworked hamstring. Seems the muscles needed to get up from the couch were stronger than those needed to run during a football play. Why aren’t the Jets fans looking at this logically? After Revis left the game the Jets defense played BETTER…translation: Jets wasted a lot of money on decent CB that should be playing for a lot less.

    @ GreenAssGrass
I can’t wait to see those stupid faces Sparano uses when he doesn’t understand why his players suck.
    * Which players suck? The same players that have beaten the Jets 3x in a row? Or the upgrades (Marshall, Dansby)?
Of course, Ted Ginn is gone. Maybe the Jets have a chance.
Chad Pennington better be ready cause Henne is in for a world of hurt especially if Pace returns this week. Jason Taylor = big game.
    * Jared Allen was just erased by Jake Long. A big game against Long by old man Jason Taylor? Really?…..I guess anything’s possible. I’d be surprised…
B Marshall = non factor. Sanchez & LT will have a field day on Sunday night.
Based on what? B Marshall’s history against Cromartie? Sanchez and LT’s history against top defenses? I wouldn’t be too confident.
Guessing that whatever stadium the Fish are playing at will be sold out with 50% = NY Jet fans in attendance.
Last year, the Jets fans were hard to find at the Dolphins home game. Even harder to find after the Dolphins began to crush the Jets. I remember the Saints game, thinking how (pleasently) strange it was that there were many more Saints fans than Jets fans at those respective games.
The number of Jets fans at the game in Miami looked about the same as Dolphin fans at the games in New Jersey.
Why would this year be different?

  46. dixinpunani says: Sep 20, 2010 5:22 PM

If showing up to camp ensures that you will not get a hamstring injury… Then how do you all explain how all those instances where a guy tweaked guy tweaked his hamstring even though he did show up to camp?
Maybe because their is no real relationship between the two, and it is correlative at best.
It’s like saying the last three car accidents that occurred showed evidence that the drivers ate cheeseburgers for lunch. So based on that we start assuming that eating cheesburgers for lunch results in car accidents. See how little sense that makes. Maybe those three drivers were just bad drivers. What about the hundred other drivers who also ate cheeseburgers for lunch that didn’t get into accidents?

  47. NYMets says: Sep 20, 2010 5:30 PM

  51. FinFan68 says: Sep 20, 2010 5:56 PM

@NYMets At least one of those two “garbage teams” you refer to will likely beat the Jets. Congrats on a great win, but I expect Sanchez to revert back to a turnover machine if they continue with the aggressive play calling. This defensive scheme is different and the players are in position to make more plays. Sunday will be a great game, as usual for this rivalry. Both defenses are good but I think miami has a slight edge because 1) it is their first home game 2) they usually play well in night games 3) the miami offense is capable of keeping the ball on long drives which should wear down the Jets’ aggressive defense. Miami’s defense should be fresher late in a close game. Both teams have a knack for calling stupid plays at critical points in the game and it may just come down to which staff has a smarter game

  52. snnyjcbs says: Sep 20, 2010 6:19 PM

And I told you, that Revis was looking for an excuse for explaining away any help he was given to cover Moss or for a poor game against Moss.
The one play that Revis played Moss true man on man he was beat off the line by Moss for an easy TD by Moss.
QBs do not throw at a corner 111 times as they threw at Revis in 2009 if they are afraid of you. When the NFL QBs are truly afraid of a corner they do not throw 111 passes at him in three years combined. Nnamdi Asomugha did not have 111 passes tossed his way in years 2007. 2008 and 2009 combined. That is right in years 2007, 2008 & 2009 combined the balls tossed Nnamdi’s way do not total 111 passes. As a matter of fact in 2009 Revis allowed more completions then Nnamdi had passes tossed his way. That is a true shut down corner.
I cannot wait to hear the Jets and Revis excuses the next time he faces Moss.

  53. dave says: Sep 20, 2010 6:26 PM

  54. NYMets says: Sep 20, 2010 6:27 PM

    FinFan,
The Dolphins have no offense against Buffalo and Minnesota but as far as you’re concerned it’s gonna show up against the Jets because 1) it is their first home game 2) they usually play well in night games 3) the miami offense is capable of keeping the ball on long drives which should wear down the Jets’ aggressive defense.
And one of these two teams, Buffalo and Minnesota, will likely beat the Jets.
I see you have this all figured out.
The Dolphins have had no offense through two games. I wouldn’t be surprised if Miami gets shut out. And I’ll be right there to see it. A fun time will be had by all. (Except for Soprano)

Why do you think Miami’s defense is so great? They beat the worst team in the league with the Bills and they caught the worst QB in the league with Favre.
I understand you guys are all giddy about beating the Jets twice last year but the bottom line is…..you haven’t won a playoff game in 10 years LOL

“Brandon Marshall has done nothing so far this year. The Miami Dolphins offense has done nothing so far this year. And their two wins come against two garbage teams. This Sunday night the Dolphin buys the farm.”
    * I’m sure Brandon Marshall can, and will, do more. Most people believe he will as he develops within the Dolphin offense.
Still, you (a Jets fan) are saying he has done nothing this year.
    Here’s nothing:
    2 games, 12 catches, 124 yards….plus a few crushing downfield blocks.
Here’s the Jets’ top wide receivers this year:
    Edwards:
    2 games, 6 catches, 54 yards
    Cotchery:
    2 games, 6 catches, 44 yards
The Jets top wide receivers have combined to catch the same number of balls, for less yards, than Marshall…yet you, a Jets fan, thinks Marshall has done nothing. Hmmm.
The Dolphins have won two road games. One against the overtime runner up in the NFC Championship game. Garbage team? They took the Saints to overtime – that close to the Super Bowl. How is that garbage?
The Bills are certainly a garbage team within the division. No division game is a gimme but the Bills are close to it. By the way, didn’t the Jets lose to the garbage Bills at home last year?
Anyway, the Jets split two games at home, or the Giants’ home in New Jersey, against early-exit playoff teams. Not bad. Not great.
By the way, check your screen name. The football team name is J-E-T-S, not M-E-T-S. You think it would sink in after Fireman Ed has made you guys repeat it over and over at your games.
    Looking forward to Sunday night!

I’m 100% ok with Henne throwing for only 100 yards if we’re pounding the ball on the ground and winning games. Our defense is good enough that our offense doesn’t have to catch up.
Go ahead and point to stats, Jet fans. The only one that matters is 2-0, and of course a tip of the hat to the SWEEP we performed of you last year.

  70. texasPHINSfan says: Sep 21, 2010 12:06 PM

Also, your team will not continue to win only putting up 15 points a game. Somewhere down the line and it may be this weekend you will need your QB to throw the ball and put points on the board which he has yet to do. If you are ok with running and scoring 15 by all means, congrats!

    @MrHumble
“There are several corners who are better than Bevis but there is NONE that can truely play Moss one on one, NONE!”
Hey Mr. “Bumble” (haha its funny cause I substituted the first letter of your last name with a “b” changing it to a slightly humorous alternative), did you watch the game?
“Bromartie” was covering “Brandy” Moss one on one when he “bintercepted” that Tom “Brady” pass. “Brandy” isn’t even a top 5 WR anymore and his quitting on plays is more and more evident.
Maybe you went to say “there are several extremely lazy wide receivers but there are NONE that can truly take off more plays than Randy Moss, NONE”
