Steelers-Titans one-liners

Coach Mike Tomlin said that the Steelers were miffed by “the premature reporting of our death.” (Hey, at least he didn’t say they’re gonna “unleash hell” again.)

Steelers WR Hines Ward said that Titans RB Chris Johnson “[g]ave up.”

Steelers QB Charlie Batch would like to start in Week Three; “I always want to throw my hat in the ring. It’s just a matter of if the opportunity presents itself. I will be ready.”

Steelers NT Chris Hoke, subbing for Casey Hampton, may have had the game of his life.

KR Antonio Brown was an unlikely hero for the Steelers, taking the opening kickoff 89 yards for a touchdown.

Titans QB Vince Young, described as "[r]attled” by Steelers DE Brett Keisel, had this to say about the Pittsburgh defense: “They did some things that I haven’t seen before.”

Young wasn’t complaining about getting slammed head first into the ground and not picking up 15 yards for roughing; “Those types of things don’t bother me,” Young said. “But eventually when I get to be a top-five quarterback in the league, then I might get those calls. Right now, I’m way below, and I’m not going to get those calls.”

With 176 yards in two games, Titans RB Chris Johnson is only 136 yards off pace for his repeatedly-proclaimed goal of 2,500; he’ll need to average 166 over the last 14 games to get there and, at his current pace, he’ll need 1,180 yards in Week 17.

Titans DE Jacob Ford didn’t return after suffering a knee injury; it’s not believed to be serious.

Steelers chariman Dan Rooney visited with Titans coach Jeff Fisher after the game.
