Browns center Alex Mack says Chiefs defensive lineman Shaun Smith did something dirty during Sunday’s game.
Very dirty.
Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that Mack says Smith grabbed his genitals during a play near the end of the first half.
“I don’t think he should be able to do that,” said Mack of Smith. “I’m still fired up about it.”
Smith wasn’t flagged, but shortly after that Mack, still angry, was flagged for unnecessary roughness for jumping into a pile. That penalty was huge because it preceded a missed field goal for the Browns, who ended up losing 16-14.
So how does Smith answer the charges?
“I don’t have no comment,” Smith told the Associated Press. “I don’t recall doing anything like that. I’m not known for being a dirty player or anything like that, so I don’t know what that was all about.”

A non-denial denial, followed by a deflection.
Yep, he did it alright but its no surprise, we’ve all heard about the nightmares that go on in a pile.
That sounds like a Greg Manusky play…
You play the ball not the ….
He was “fired up” about it?
Well, at least he wasn’t “scared stiff”
Heh…it was actually Mangina giving him a reach-around…just like he is doing to Cleveland Browns fans everywhere.
What a sorry excuse for a team…again!
I have always wondered about those Chiefs players… Thats why Montana went their from San Francisco to KC to end his career.
He was checking for Testicular Cancer…duh
“I don’t have no comment,” Smith told the Associated Press. “I don’t recall doing anything like that. I’m not known for being a dirty player or anything like that, so I don’t know what that was all about.”
Lie detector says: Guilty.
this oughta be a goldmine for comments…
Sophomore got schooled by a vet.
You don’t have no education either.
“I don’t recall doing anything like that. I’m not known for being a dirty player or anything like that, so I don’t know what that was all about.”
Crime of passion?
Talk about sizing up the competition.
Happy Ending?
Shaun Smith is known as a baller.
Isn’t this the guy that decked Brady Quinn in the weight room in Cleveland? He absolutely DOES have a reputation as being a dirty (and lousy) player.
If it was the Bills he was playing against, he may have enjoyed it more cause they REALLY SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
“I don’t have no comment.”
So then Shaun, what’s your comment?
The play in question happened at 2:00 left in the 2nd quarter. Browns ran left out of the wildcat formation. Alex Mack cut two guys including Shaun Smith. Mack lands on his stomach. Shaun Smith on lands on top of him. As Mack rolls over (away from the camera) you see Shaun Smith reach under Mack near his groin. Mack responded by throwing a punch at Shaun Smith. Pretty obvious that it happened as Mack says.
I always knew PFT would find a way to talk about one man grabbing another man’s unit.
Hey Mack, did Shaun at least offer to buy you dinner?
So does Smith get credited with a sack?
Shortly after the game Alex Mack and Shaun Smith were seen leaving a near by motel . Even tho Shaun Smith was dressed in drag they were still spoted leaving the room together hold each others genitals more on this story on TMZ
Jesse Jackson should cut Shaun Smith’s nuts off.
Leaned that move from Brady Quinn.
“..but shortly after that Mack, still angry, was flagged for unnecessary roughness for jumping into a pile.”
he was just trying to hide his woody.
Shaun Smith: “I thought I was getting a good vibe from Mack.”
Alex Mack: ” No DOES NOT MEAN YES!”
Shaun Smith: ” Not the way you were looking at me.”
This seems to be common place. You should take a look at some interviews of d line and o line players talking about what happens in the pile.
Um, don’t these players wear cups that should make it impossible to grab the goodies ?
If Shaun Smith did the same thing to Kordell Stewart KS would respond “WHOO HOO HOO!”
You have obviously never played football pretty boy.
Anything goes in the pile–biting, scratching, grabbing, pulling, pinching.
Every year in training camp, The Sporting News has asked players to name the worst thing they have seen in a pileup. The answer is always the same: “I’ve seen guys have their nuts grabbed.”
It’s just that Alex Mack is the first player to bitch about it publicly.
Translation: Get over it.
There’s a reason why the Browns suck every single year, because of crap like this.
It’s just a preview for next year. Welcome to the National Fairy League. Elton John now hands the ball to Ricky Martin. Up the middle, stopped by George Michael……
Chefs Golf Pro Haley told Smith to SACK him… I guess did as told.
Yes Alex – players do all kinds of things in a pile to try to get the ball or get you mad.
Unlike you, the other players in the NFL are smart enough not to be a girly whiner about it or let it goad them into a costly penalty.

Smith must’ve been hanging out with Roethlisberger this offseason. How else can you learn the ins and outs of unwanted affection…..

Winner! close thread, precious memories please.
He was probably looking for a hamburger.
So you’re saying Troy Aikman was playing for the wrong team? Not the first time I’ve heard that one.
He was just playing the ball.
Hahahahaha

@Bdrunk
Agreed! My good friend Bob Sacamano wins the day.
Too bad he didn’t do this to Ed Wang…
play the balls, play the balls… i mean ball. and not the other guy or his balls.
balls on the ground, balls on the ground…
I’ve heard of centers “giving up a sack”, but this is just wrong.

Classic
Smith would welcome a trade to San Francisco.
Playing for the Browns, having somebody grab your genitals in a game is about as good as you can hope for in a season…
It’s great the way the players offer support to each other. Really touching……..

WINNER!!!
I loled at Bob’s comment
he’s just hurt that smith hasn’t called him back yet. he really thought smith was the right one.
Isn’t this backwards? The offensive lineman is supposed to grab the defensive lineman’s junk, like Andre Gurode constantly did to Albert Haynesworth, not too coincidentally during the now infamous head stomping game.
“I don’t have no comment,” > that’s all you need to know about this idiot.
Alex Mack is lucky because Shauns original plan was to teabag him.
Shaun says WTF does Mack expect wearing those tight pants and bending over all the time with his ass in the air. “Don’t play coy and innocent, there Al.”.
Shaun wanted access to “The Secret World Of Alex Mack”.
“He kinda reminded me of the older sister on the show,”, Smith admitted sheepishly. “She was so hot, I just had to check.”.
Don’t have no comment? Then, pray tell, what is your comment? With English like that, god help you in the work force when your ball-grabbin days are over.
the ol’ 5 on 2…total mismatch
No homo?

Not true. Tomlinson bitched about getting molested in the pile during Raider games when he was with San Diego. And in case it comes up, Steve Wisniewski used to step on John Randle’s feet, and Bill Romanowski wasn’t above chopping a guy in the throat when nobody was looking. Be thankful for your gentle life.
It would be nice if the Browns played like they had some of the gentials in question during the second halves of their games.
I also see the rumor about Kevin Kolb possibly being traded to the Browns. If I am Heckert, I make the deal sending either McCoy or Wallace to the Eagles along Harrison and get it done. Give them a nice package and make it happen.
Delhomme is a one year starter at best and you can lay odds he is going to get injured again. Wallace didnt look much better and its not like he was the 1969 KC Chiefs.
Regardless, I would not be shocked to see the Brownies go into the break 0-7 and Mr. Mangini on a bus back to CT.
