The Saints initially believed that Saints running back Reggie Bush suffered a fractured fibula on Monday night against the 49ers.
And he did.
Per a league source, Bush will miss four-to-six weeks due to a fracture of the upper fibula, one of the two bones of the lower leg.
He will not need surgery.
The range is an intriguing one; six weeks from this past Sunday, the Saints host the Steelers. On Halloween night. On NBC. Against the World Series.
Graft the Bone that’s still in whoreDashian..–be back in 2 weeks top..
if he plays in 8 weeks he’ll be lucky… That injury to a guy who makes a living cutting and accelerating on turf no less will set him back the rest of the season.
Florio,
I though you believed Reggie Bush was a “bust”?
Why are you reporting about a “bust”?
Maybe it is because Reggie Bush is actually a very good football player who makes NFL Defenses account for his every move and scheme around him?
Maybe it is because he is an integral part of the Defending Super Bowl Champions?
Or maybe it is because you are trying to pimp the ratings for the Halloween Night Game with the Steelers?
I would guess your answer would be #3, but #1 and #2 are much more justifiable.
At least it wasnt a knee injury. This is good news
Actually that’s not intriguing at all buddy.
Looks bad for Bush. You ever try fibbing with conviction with a broken fibula?
With the style of football he plays it’s only a matter of time that he would get a significant injury.
He needs to stop with all that jumping over people and stuff and worry about protecting himself and the ball more.
Will someone mention that the Saints are 8-4 WITHOUT Reggie Bush since 2006?
Dear Mike,
We know what a fibula is.
Cheers.
Horrific news for the Saints. I guess the only saving grace is that one of the weeks is a bye week. Get well soon, Reggie.

NO BUST! JUST A CHEAT.
A broken fib isn’t really a season ending injury. Now a broken tibia would have left changing effects being that the bone is the primary weight bearing bone.
Thank baby Jesus… Whether you like him or not, he’s exciting to watch.
Look up Willie Parker’s production after breaking his fibula. I wouldn’t count on him being the Reggie of old again.

Look up Willie Parker’s production BEFORE breaking his fibula. Decent…but not spectacular.
If Favre had the same injury, they’d say it was because he was an old man… lol

I think Bush is over rated. The reason defenses have to account for him is the way he is used. You could plug any small, fast back into his spot, and the defense would have to account for him, especially with the other weapons they have.
One of the things I noticed most last night was how much better Pierre Thomas is than Bush. I mean, it’s not close. And Frank Gore, drafted the year before but much later due to injury, is light years ahead of Bush.
I’m not saying he’s a “bust”, but I don’t think decoy and punt returner is the role the Saints had in mind when they drafted him 3rd. I think you could argue that he is the 6th best running back taken in that draft (Maurice Jones-Drew, Leon Washington, Joseph Addai, DeAngelo Williams, Jerome Harrison)

You do know he didn’t get hurt doing any of that, right?

Not every break is the same, not everyone heals the same.
If Favre had this injury, he’d start next week.
Thomis can carry the lode! nothing can stop us from going back to back! besides we don’t need a runing back just spred them out 4 wide and pass! touchdown! spike the ball in there face and screem WHO DAT!!! bring on the falcan’ts!
Err – load, spread and scream.
And each sentence should start with a capital letter even if you insist on using exclamation points.
…just saying.
Tough break 4 the guy…and 2 all u fanboys who come out from under your mother’s teat 2 talk trash…Jump off of the highest peak head first onto a sharp stick…
Man, I don’t know what we’re gonna do without Reggie’s cheatin ass. I’m sure gonna miss him. Only concern I have is Breesy looks soft in the pocket. I almost wish we had old Heath Schuler back in the pocket.
Karma is a bitch!!! Next up – Mike the dog killa
The fibula isn’t the main weight bearing bone, so he just has to avoid any twisting motions or direct blows to the lateral side of his leg. 4-6 weeks is norm for recovery so he should be up and back in action for sure. Thank goodness it wasn’t his tibia or then he would really be in trouble.
