boysroll, come on, you cant rip the texans because they gained 600 yards on a redskins team that beat the cowboys.. if washington is so bad defensively where were the cowboys 600 yards?
anyway, i hate the cowboys but i think they'll get things right before the season is over and probably win the division. too early to count teams out when they are only 1 game back in their division.

chargerrich:
i know you hate the cowboys for being more popular than your chargers. that's a given. but, what have the chargers done in the last DECADE that's so worthy of bashing another team for their lack of accomplishments?
besides losing to the 9ers in #29 idk if the chargers have ever done anything really noteworthy.
this is, of course, just my opinion.

0-2 in a division with a 2-0 team would worry me but the best that's happened is are three 1-1 teams. If they can get to 2-2 by the 4th week, I wouldn't be too worried and even a 1-3 or 0-4 start wouldn't be a big worry because I don't think that these teams are that far apart, but only if Philly sticks with its plans of thrusting Kolb into the starting job.
The Cowboys biggest problem is and always will be Jason Garrett. He's calling plays as if he's got too many toys and can't figure a way to get them all integrated and keep them happy. Unfortunately for the Cowboys, he didn't take a head coaching job when he had a chance and the worst thing is that if they get rid of Phillips, Jones will most likely elevate Garrett because he just won't admit that he's made a mistake.
As for distractions: if they DO short circuit the team then the team really doesn't have what it takes to be a winner. With 53 different personalities on a team, you're going to have problems with each other and anything else that happens. Chemistry is a class and has nothing to do with winning or losing. You can have all those teams that love each other and say all the right things about their teammates and you'd have the Chicago Cubs or you can have a team that hates their biggest superstar and end up winning 3 straight World Series like the Oakland A's.
As Mike Golic likes to say, "Winning is a great deodorant." People blamed TO for their previous problems but he's not there so who is it now? Could it just be that they just don't have what it takes to be a winner? I think that a couple of weeks with the same OL might change the outlook for some people on the team and maybe that'll help but unless Garrett gets his head out of his Jerry Jones, they'll end up wasting their talent.

"I'd like to see the percentage of 0-2 teams who made the playoffs who also averaged 11 wins a season over the last half decade. This would be a more useful statistic."
The only useful statistic is how many epic chokes has a team made. Off the top of my head...the Seahawks playoff game....the Giants playoff game....The Steelers 4th quarter fold...the Ravens loss at home...44-6...both games this year. The list goes on and on. They had a halfway decent season last year. That was clearly a fluke. Yeah, they have a talented roster. but they are the worst-owned (and with Al Davis and Dan Snyder, that's really saying something), worst coached team in the NFL, hands down.
Good for you, you remembered every tough loss over the last 5 years. Is this for real? you type with suck rage about it too. Every team has tough wins and losses every year. The cowboys seem to be the only team where this is unacceptable. Romo also has double digit 4th quarter comebacks. Do you remember Romo beating Manning in his 3rd career start when the colts were 8-0? NO. Do you remember when they beat Favre and the favored backers to win the NFC east in 07? No. You remember when they shut 2 divisional opponents out back to back weeks last year? No. Dont bother remembering that stuff cuz in the end the only game that matters is the super bowl.
Winning is everything but when you play with a star on your helmet it quickly becomes all that's acceptable. SUPER BOWL OR YOU SUCK!!

Boysroll continues to take solace in the NFL stat sheet. He notes all the yards gained, yards given up, passes attempted - but somehow never gets to the two most important stats, Wins and Losses. Hint for next week, boysroll - you can find Wins right above the zero and Losses right above the three after Texas' NFL team dispatches the Cowgirls Sunday.
For a fan base that claims the Redskins-Cowgirls rivalry is only important to Redskins fans, they sure spend a lot of time comparing the circumstances of a 4-12 team in 2009 with a new head coach and new GM to their own team - you know, the Greatest Team Ever Assembled. The only valid comparison after two weeks - one team is 1-1 with a victory over the other while the other team is 0-2.
I will give boysroll credit though. He is showing up. I guess that it's possible that not all Cowgirl fans are cockroaches who scurry under the floorboards when the light of reality (again, 0-2) hits them.

I love the excuses! One playoff win in 13 years. They now have a 12% chance of making the playoffs this season (0-2 start history). So much "talent," so little achievement.
I'd like to see the percentage of 0-2 teams who made the playoffs who also averaged 11 wins a season over the last half decade. This would be a more useful statistic.

I agree with heyguru,
Pick a back (Barber) and pound the ball. It's simple.
The other critique--that the priorities in Dallas are all out of whack, is accurate. Too many egos, not enough discipline.
And put a muzzle on the players--how many have been in stories this week featuring their personal opinion as to what's wrong with the team?
And if I found out that my team was holding "open to the the public" / exhibition type practices on Friday nights (after losing the week before), I'd be pissed, too.
Focus, get your priorities straight. Decide what kind of team you are (running, or an aerial attack?) then DO IT.
The Texas Civil War will be interesting to see this week. At least we know the south will win this time.

One of many problems with Dallas is that they don't have a vocal leader on defense that also gets it done on the field. Brookings is vocal but he isn't the Brookings of the late 90's and his body can't back it up anymore. Bradie James is vocal but a reh-tard who frequently is out of place. Terrance Newman isn't too bright and plays soft DB like just like Deion Sanders, minus the talent.
DeMarcus Ware is too nice.
Jay Ratcliff might have to be this vocal leader who gets in a teammates face. It's amazing Parcells hasn't poached this guy.
All of this of course is because they've taken on the personality of their fearless leader, Bum's boy.
They missed a huge opportunity in not going hard after Ray Lewis after 08. Someone who would've shanked a teammate over a mental mistake, and could still back up his talk on the field of play.
Seems like the Cowboys have finally got rid of the bad attitude players (Owens, Pac Man, etc), but now lack attitude.

Love the "magic" Jerry has worked on the Cowboys. Probably stems from the fact that the coach's main qualification for his job was his ability to plant two lips on Jerry's backside.
The only problem I see here is that Jerry Jones is attempting to perform the same "miracles" he has worked in Dallas on the entire NFL through the new CBA.
Go NFLPA!
