Mike t wants to WIN and is doing everything he can to do so. Should Edwards be punished? Absolutely. But not now. At first I couldn’t believe there was so much attention over a first DWI. After all, cops will pull you over for anything (license plate light out, decal hanging on rear-view mirror, etc) or even for nothing, if it’s 2am and you fit the profile. I’ve always said that you should be penalized for ACTUAL violations, not the ‘potential violation’ of being over-the-limit. That being said, I didn’t realize Edwards was with Stallworth, beat-up a guy, and drove 120mph down a residential street. To me, driving 120 down a residential street is MUCH worse than being over-the-limit and doing nothing wrong with the car. Yeah, this guy needs to be suspended.

The Giants have won 3 SB’s since the last time the Jets even sniffed at one.

Francesa HATES the JETS!!!!
Last year after Sanchez was photographed in a bar with a lit cigarette he said that Sanchez had no respect for his position and that he is out every night partying!
He got so much backlash that he apologized for his remarks on Sanchez.
Anything the Giants or Parcells do are A-OK with Francesa!
He just can’t get enough of bashing the Jets!

As a Philly fan who can get WFAN on the radio, I listen to Francesa on occasion. While he does seem to possess some typical NY smugness, I find him to be very knowledgable and objective. I generally find his show pretty entertaining. In the case of Braylon Edwards, he is certainly spot-on.

If you don’t live in the NY/NJ/CT metro area and can’t get WFAN 660, all you need to know is that Francessa is a wind bag, who loves the Giants and Yankees and the sound of his own voice. He never gives anyone else a sliver of respect. Edwards should just be dressed and not put into the game. Yesterday on his show Francessa carried on and on about his DUI being .16 as opposed to .1 or .08 like it makes a difference. He had all these morons call in and talk about what .16 equates to in terms of the # of drinks. It was stupid. Everyone’s tolerance is dif. And multi-millionare athletes prob have more tolerance than a normal joe. Because they drink, high proof liquors at their VIP tables and everywhere they go and get noticed the bar tender has a heavy pour.

When Braylon Edwards is convicted in a court of law then he should be suspended. You need to remember he is innocent until proven guilty, even though he looks really guilty. Next is the fact that the Jets can’t discipline him in accordance with the player association contract. So while the Jets may want to discipline him and should they can’t because of that.

Except we already know that’s not the standard the NFL uses. Goodell can and has suspended players with no convictions. He’s just not very consistent about it.

I agree with you 150%, BKWrxWgn. NY radio listeners, even NYG fans, know what Mike Francesca is all about…he is trash. I have heard Jets fans try to call him when he’s ranting about how terrible the team is AFTER A JETS WIN, and Mike will cut them off and hang up on them.
What Edwards did was terrible— yes, he deserves to have bamboo chutes driven under his fingernails while salt and lemon juice are being poured in his eyes. Yes, he deserves to have a curse put on the next 4 generations of his family.
The NFL will deal with it, and the Jets will deal with it, so put your pitchforks and torches away. Do you realize how idiotic you all sound??
He won’t be a Jet for much longer, so when the inevitable does happen, you can all rant about it taking the Jets too long to release him. Get your rough drafts ready!

I have to say, I sometimes have issues with Florio’s comments but this time he hit the nail on the head. The Jets care about the Dolphins, not how many people this drunken scumbag could have killed behind the wheel with a blood alcohol level of .16.
I guess he forgot what his drinking buddy Donte Stallworth did two years ago. In one quick DRUNKEN action he created a widow and orphans.

Are you a labor lawyer? No. Have you see the CBA signed between the NFL and the NFLPA. No. Hav the Jets told Edwards to stay home, it would have resulted in many back slaps from jackass media types like yourself saying “good job” but ultimately it would have ended up w/ the NFLPA challenging both the Jets and the NFL due to their breach of the CBA. The challenge would be nothing more than a prolonged distraction in a week that has a big enough of a distraction.
As for Franscessa, the man’s a nut. As any NY sports radio fan knows, he’s the A1A, #1 Jets hater in the NY media. So when things are (mildly) good, he bashes the little things that are bad. When things are (extremely) bad like this, he goes off the hook. I take nothing he says about the Jets to heart, because he – like the MORON writer of this article – has a continuous ax to grind w/ the Jets organization for reasons only they can understand.
