Dolphins get waiver priority for Mickey Shuler

The Dolphins seem to love picking up new tight ends.  And they got an assist getting their latest project from their poor record last season.

PFT has confirmed Miami claimed Mickey Shuler, who was waived by the Vikings Wednesday.  Miami was awarded Shuler over the Giants and Colts, despite Miami’s 2-0 record.  For the first three weeks of the season, waiver priority still goes off 2009 record.

Shuler and recently promoted practice squad player Jeron Mastrud are now the backups to Anthony Fasano.

No mention of the fact that Mickey Shuler Jr. is the son of the former Jests All Pro TE Mickey Shuler from Penn State? Hmmm. Kinda odd.

They wouldn’t need any more TEs if they would have just kept Martin on the active roster instead of trying to let him slip through waivers. Dumb move and it cost them.

Ominously, there was also no mention of Mickey Shuler being totally unrelated to Heath Shuler.

Pats pick up perennial underdog Danny Woodhead, Fins get the son of one of my all-time favorite Jets. Meanwhile as a Jets fan I’m stuck having to root for knuckleheads like Braylon Edwards. That stuff ain’t right.

turning over rocks searching for acorns ….
I agree with the David Martin release being suspect … he was signed for so little in an uncapped year, there must have been a lack of performance issue unseen to the fans ….

Because a blocking Tight End is the same thing as a receiving Tight End that can’t crack the Buffalo Bills starting roster. Yeah, that will definitely cost them.

Good pick up, if he is good enough to make the vikings 53 in order to stash him on the practice squad then he has potential. For all those Fin fans still crying about David Martin, he played in one game this yr with no catches. He didnt dress for the packer game. He’s not the same guy as he was 2 yrs ago. Let him go

The U is up 24-3 with about 10 minutes to play at Pitt, they are wearing orange, look like some Karma for the jets to worry about. Bill

i really wondered why they let martin go too but then i also wondered why they kept jason allen, i guess they know more than we do and i think come sun. night the jets are gonna find that out as well

I am guessing that a RB and TE will be the first areas of target in the draft next year for us.
If we would have addressed the TE position this offseason rather than hoping something fell into our laps as the season started…

Didnt we draft a TE the last two years? wth
