Ronnie Brown doesn’t have a history of bad behavior, didn’t have other passengers in his car, and was barely over the legal limit during his time off in the offseason.
Braylon has multiple past offenses, had two other players in the car with him, and was twice the legal limit. On a weeknight. during the season.
A DUI is a DUI, but in this case Braylon’s punishment should be stiffer than Brown simply because Braylon isn’t a first-timer.

He’s no different than any other impaired driver. Just like the thousands that will drive drunk in your city this weekend. They will spend the night in the drunk tank, then either post bond, or be released on recognizance in the morning, then go home and figure out how to put their lives back together.

Who cares if Edwards plays or not, Miami is going to beat the snot out of the Jests anyway just like they did last year. Last year they ran for over 150 yards and pushed the “physical” Jests all over the field. They punched Ryan and his great defense in the mouth and they have gotten better on both sides of the ball since that meeting and the Jests have gotten worse. Ryan is a joke of a coach and his team reflects his undisciplined personality. Sparano is the defintion of disciplined and his team also reflects that, they are probably the most physical team in the division with some of the best players. Miami wins on Sunday and next week against NE and takes a huge lead in the AFC East.

Anyway, this is why the Jets can only TALK tough:
“Due to the rules of the collective bargaining agreement, any punishment the Jets would dole out, other than what the NFL eventually decides, could violate the CBA. That means the Jets could not suspend or deactivate him without risking a violation. Keeping Edwards active and not playing him could also be perceived as punishment.”

SBS0311 is right. The other teams didn’t bench their DUI’s, but now its the Jets, so they should?? So easy to judge on an anonymous message board. The team is dealing with the situation well. The posters on here condemning their handling of it remind me of the housewives talking over the fence. “He got detention at school, but Mildred only gave Johnny a week’s grounding. What is wrong with her??”
Are you really all that bored?
Worry about what goes on in your own backyard and let the Jets deal with their yard. There are less arrests and charges against players on their team than most in the NFL, and that’s a fact. Guess that means they are doing something right.

Johnson is saying that the service is there for anyone in the organization to use and he doesn’t want to know who’s using it. Hence the use of the “full confidentiality” above in the prior statement. He doesn’t want a player to not use this service because they would “fear” the JETS finding out. Makes sense to me…

This is how the Steelers handled Santonio Holmes after police caught him with small joint. Coach Tomlin told Santonio Holmes, AKA TOKER, to stay away from the team all week and would not dress or play against the Giants. By doing nothing the Jets agree with “.16′s” drunken behavior. It’s actually a rather simple concept. Johnson hired a driving service that will bring any player home for no charge. Now Johnson doesnt care what they did that night as they are all over 21 and legally drinking. Its called trusting them to be responsible and providing them with the means to do so. See its possible that many players could go out drinking and partying, then use the service and not have any repercussions because they have the legal right to do so.

Edwards will play this weekend. He will probably sit out the first series and then be put back in.
There will be no suspension until the League has had to to review it. At which time you can expect a 1 to 4 game suspension. There is the possibility that he violated his parole from the assault charge in Cleveland. And if that is the case he will probably get more than a four game suspension, in which case look for the Jets to trade/release him.
This is pure speculation on my part, but sounds the most logical in MY OPINION.

Seems to me the Jets and the NFL has different rules to different players and teams… its a disgrace to the NFL. So when do all the cries for Braylon to enter some sort of rehab??? Considering both his charges now involved alcohol?? (for the slow ones,hes got an assualt charge against him in Ohio)
Ben never got charged in a crime.. hell they didnt even have a probable cause to bring him in.. hes suspended.. but Braylon gets a DUI while on PROBATION and NOTHING????????? WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

World is full of haters. Braylon Edwards, a man with “character issues”, has been nothing but a great teammate since hes been a Jet. He doesnt complain for the ball. Doesnt throw players under the bus, including his young QB. Braylon shows up and plays on Sundays most importantly. When was the last time Sanchez or Rex had something bad to say about his commitment to the team.
One DUI and everyone wants to hate this man. He didnt crash, he didnt shoot his leg. No harm, no foul. There was no practice/ team function the next day. Get over it already, let the legal process run its course. Its not like hes acting like Rothelsberger. I mean, he is human.
So what if he punched Lebrons friend in the face. Were you there? Do you know the facts of the situation? If I had a pair of STONE HANDS like Edwards, Id walk around punching people in the face too.
