Truly elite defenses don’t give up over 50 points in playoff games. They just don’t. Playoffs are the times when these defenses make statements. I guess your defense is like the peyton manning of defenses. Only elite in the regular season.

I love to read this every week – especially the reasoning behind the picks. I think the Cowboys-Texans and Titans-Giants games are the two most important games of the week. I disagree with Rosenthal who said the Falcons-Saints game was most important because both of those teams are sitting pretty at 2-0. There’s a real sense of urgency for three of the four teams involved in the two games I mentioned. I really like the Texans, but as a desperate team I think the Cowboys win the game. I’m 50/50 on Titans-Giants but lean toward New York. Does anyone even bother to look that statistically, the Raiders are better than 2/3 of the NFL and certainly are better than the Cardinals in every aspect… I keep hearing how they are giving up 150 a game rushing, but 205 of that was in week one against Chris Johnson. In 142 of that 205 that Johnson had, he had 1 76 yard run and 27 for 66. Missed angle by one player was what allowed that 76 break away. The same Chris Johnson had an 80 yard run against the Steelers called back because of routine holding that can be called on every snap in the NFL. Last week, they allowed 75 yards to Steven Jackson of the Rams…. whom most people would consider to be a pretty decent back…. The Raiders run D is a lot better than advertised… And their offense moves the ball… here’s hoping Gradkowski converts some of that movement to points…. Raiders will win this game in a blowout…

I’m sick of everybody being all up on Miami’s jock. they have beaten NOBODY. Minnesota, sure. they have good players. however, those players have been playing like garbage this season. Sanchez will throw over 200 yards, and it’s gonna be hard for the Dolphins to rush over 100. Even if they do, I don’t think they can pass the ball. They haven’t shown that they’ve been able to score on offense either, averaging 10 points going into the Jets game doesn’t translate to a victory for the Dolphins in my book. the fish are gettin fried this weekend.

Fatty Francesa going to have a heart attack on WFAN today. Peter King told him Jets must play Edwards on Sunday because its a pending case and Fatty doesn’t believe him!
The best part is that nobody on the Jets will go on WFAN to give Fatty Mike the time of day!!!

Rosenthal, even the Bucs fans know they aren’t for real. The game is blacked out due to lack of ticket sales. They won’t spend their hard earned money to watch a pretender get beat by a contender. There will probably be more Steelers fans in the seats than Bucs fans.

You guys played the game of your lives and managed to beat the Colts by only 10, and thats only because of Collie’s “fumble” in the red zone. Clay Matthews is the FIRST thing Chicago has to worry about, not the only thing. The offensive line has to plan for Raji and co. if they want to have any semblance of a running game, then you’ve got a couple of ballhawks in the secondary who earn their money by baiting poor decision-makers (ie. Cutler) into making terrible throws.
It’s hilarious how Cutler has had two good games this year and he’s suddenly an elite passer. Funny stuff. Chicago lost the game versus the Detroit, and played a good game against a Dallas team that might not even be good. Let’s hand them the division!

Not paying attention to last week, were you? Cutler wasn’t making many deep throws. The Cowboys WERE getting pressure on Cutler. Then they got beat by a hot route for a TD to Olsen, and they were forced to back off. It’s not all about the defense beating the o-line; if the offense adjusts, the defense will be forced to adjust in turn. When the offense is chipping away with hot routes, the Packers will be forced to drop some guys into coverage. If Cutler is only taking 2-3 step drops, no one is reaching him.
Furthermore, he HAS been making those kinds of throws – putting them into tight windows where either the receiver catches it or no one does. The difference is the Bears have a real offensive coordinator now, so he now has good options. In fact, Cutler no longer has to even make decisions. The Martz system is very specific: Snap the ball, this is your first target. If the defense does this, go here. If it does this, go here instead.

Florio’s take: No one expected either of these teams to be 2-0. But one of them is a contender and the other one isn’t and that reality will become obvious on Sunday when the Pittsburgh defense does to Tampa quarterback Josh Freeman what the Pittsburgh defense did to Tennessee quarterback Vince Young. Sure, the Steelers have quarterback issues. I’m even more sure that it doesn’t matter.

First off, the bears lost to the lions. the only reason they have a W is because calvin johnson celebrated too early. Everyone knows he made that catch. The bears may have gotten the W but in reality they lost that game.
Comparing Dallas’ pass rush to Green Bay’s is an ineffective argument. Dallas has two sacks on the year, Green Bay has 10, not to mention Green Bay also has more takeaways.
All that stuff really goes out the window though because it is Bears/Packers @ Soldier Field. Going to be a helluva game, I can’t wait!

Bucs over the Steelers? The Eagles’ DEFENSE is the problem? Look I get that they’ve given up 60 points. But for 75% of the past two games, Bradley has been out. They also played the widely-agreed-upon Super Bowl contender, the Packers. Let’s not forget that with Bradley in the there, the Eagles are a different defense. And, Nate Allen and Brandon Graham are playing VERY well. No way they only win by less than 10, and no way JAX puts up 24. Please.

Rosenthal, you’re an idiot. The Bucs “REALLY”! Come on pass the pipe dude. They’ve beaten the 0-2 Browns and Panthers, two of the worst teams in the league, and the Browns was a three point victory. The Steelers are arguably the best D in the league, and to pick on Batch and his 19 yards is ridiculous. First of all, he’s the forth string QB(and what a luxury to have a guy like this as a forth string QB), so when was the last time he spent a week preparing with a first team offense for a game, which he will this week. Secondly he had two passes that should have been caught, dropped, and a TD pass called back on a penalty. If the Bucos score more than 7 pts it will be because the Steelers pulled starters due to the margin of the lead they have. Mendenhall will have a very good day and Batch will be adequate enough to not lose the game, which is all the Steelers defense needs. Get a clue and put down the pipe pal!
