Football Night in America’s Tony Dungy visited with the Jets this week, and sat down with Rex Ryan.
Dungy says he got along great with Ryan, but the two men disagreed on how to handle the Braylon Edwards situation. Ryan felt like Edwards was punished enough publicly and the team didn’t need to pile on.
The former Colts coach says he wouldn’t care what the collective bargaining agreement says. And he has the track record to back up his words.
I agree with Dungy, but I still can’t stand his holier than thou bs.
Jets following precedence, their biggest issue is they keepbtalkimg about it.
Dungy held Vick’s hand all the way back into the NFL, which makes his track record suspect.

Can Dungy just go away???
why does Tony Dungy care what people think? he should just shut up and join the clergy because he obviously thinks hes a freakin saint.
Dungy said he likes Ryan, they got along well, and they spent a lot of time discussing Edwards–presumably amicably since he came away with positive feelings about Rex. And both Rodney Harrison and Chris Collinsworth also made strong cases for why they’d have suspended Edwards. So there’s no need to imply it’s a Dungy/Ryan feud or that Dungy is moralizing about an issue while everyone else politely keeps mum.
if dungy wants to choose how to run a team he shouldn’t have retired. Since he did he should b a gm or shut his mouth
Dungy I expect his answer but Harrison showing he is really a NFL guy with his remarks. Big ups for these two saying how it should be. Ryan should have been the Raiders coach.
Very Well said Deb
with all due respect to Tony Dungy – he was such a horrible parent that his son killed himself. I don’t think he is qualified to speak about being in any position of authority and the time of punishment to hand out.
he should shut up and thank his lucky stars Peyton Manning was his quarterback.
Oh wow, Tony Dungy thinks… Who the hell cares?
Who made Tony Dungy the authority on everything anyways?
The Jets did what they did, it’s over, now lets all just sit back and wait for Braylon to screw up again, because it’s coming, oh yeah, its coming.

Best post of the night!
hey Tony, Ronnie Brown and Allen from the FINs DUI this year, did you say the Dolphins were easy on them, and lets not forget that real, nice gentleman Merling who pushed his pregnant girlfriend down the stairs. You forgot that didn’t you. Tony, just go away, your holier than thou is about as hypicritcal as your friendship with Vick.
You people are idiots! Dungy is a freakin commentator. It’s his job to give his opinion about this stuff. Not only that, but Dungy is one of the most classy and humble men in sports. All of you nut jobs who think he acts holier than thou, obviously haven’t watched him very much. He says it like it is. Edwards is a role model to young people and he shouldn’t have done what he did. Dungy just called him on it. You can count on this though- Dungy would be the first person in line to help Edwards if he wanted the help, just like he did with Vick. Theres a difference between deserving just punishment and gaining redemption. Dungy also runs non profit organizations dedicated to helping fathers improve the relationships with their sons through sports. Not to mention the number of charities this guy supports. You people need to get your facts straight before you bash such a good guy.
Dungy and Ryan in the same room — temperature would reach the boiling point with the sheer mass of hot air.
What a couple of douchebags.
last time i checked Marvin Harrison was no saint, yet Dungy never reprimanded him whatsoever.
Dungy: Ryan, Jets too soft on Braylon Edwards
New Headline should read:
Public too easy on Dungy after his son committed suicide
hey dungy STFU until you take care of your own house
If the Jets suspended every player on their team for being thugs, they’d be left with only LaDainian Tomlinson.
I love my colts and Dungy but the colts did nothing when their young DT Fili Moala gut busted with a DUI before week 1
Let’s call a spade a spade… These guys are the New Jersey Raiders.
Jets have done more than any team in the NFL where a DUI is concerned.
Suck it haters
I actually…. agree with him! Braylon’s a douche and needs to learn his lesson. 15 minutes of no football is really not a big deal. Still it’s time for Dungy to stop tryign to be the Tim Tebow of the the analyst world
The Dolphins were too soft on him tonight.
STFU Tony, you think you’re the pope? Jesus..
TD vs. division rival, apologized to Commissioner, let it go, and Dungy just analyze the games….the act is getting tired.
I used to be a Tony Dungy fan until I found out more about him and read his books. He is a holier than thou moron, an incredible hypocrite, and I am sure if the Colts were in a division battle and it was Peyton Manning who messed up, Tony wouldn’t have even given him a stinking time out. Look what happened to the Bears when they punished Tank Johnson. They cut him, the Cowpies picked him up, he helped them a lot, became a UFA and he now is a big part of Cincinnati’s defensive success. What did the Bears get from the NFL as compensation for disciplining a player. NOTHING! Jerry Jones got himself a nice defensive player for peanuts and ultimately the Bengals couldn’t have been happier. Here is the deal, it should be up to the league to set guidelines for teams to punish these guys and do it fairly. When the Bears cut Tank Johnson for the 40 in a 25 incident in AZ, they didn’t even wait for the blood test to come back. Turns out Tank Johnson was not over the blood alcohol limit and was conducting himself responsibly. So his actual crime was 15 over the limit. I am sure a few of you have done that and not lost your jobs. Team punishments can really backfire. The NFL turns its back on the team that punishes a player by allowing other teams to profit from their disciplinary actions. The NFL needs to be preventing the other teams from scooping players like Jerry Jones did. I don’t blame Jerry Jones or the Bears, I blame the NFL for having their cake and eating it too. When Dunghole insists on serious punishment for Braylon Edwards, he does so from a position of nothing to lose. That auttomatically reduces his crediblity. It is like me telling someone else how much they should bet at a craps table with THEIR money. Tony needs to STFU about morality issues and stick to football.
NOBODY CARES ABOUT TONY DUNGY’S OPINION!
So at game’s end Ryan spilled that Gatorade on Edwards but in effect really was dumping it on Dungy.
Just go away, Tony.
@RexR#1 …
He didn’t douse Edwards with the Gatorade. He doused Jason Taylor.
PRAISE JESUS!!! Monsignor Morality has chimed in with his World According to Dungy moment. I have been sleepless since this DUI not knowing what the right punishment for Braylon should be. Now I know… Thank you Tony Dungy!
Should Rodney Harrison also not have given his opinion? It concerned him to exactly the same degree that it concerned Tony Dungy, after all, but no one’s shouting at him to shut up.
It’s not like he volunteered his opinion on the Braylon Edwards story. He was asked, as part of his job, and he answered. What was he supposed to do, exactly?
Why does anyone even interview this idiot? nobody gives a shit what Spongey Dungey thinks. The guy inherited one of the best offensive football teams in history and one of the best QB’s along with it and won one SB. A great accomplishment sure, but I’m tired of people thinking he is some great coach. If he’s that good have him lead the Browns, Bills, etc. to a SB. What about the Bucs? Oh ya, sorry I forgot. Anyway this guy needs to keep his opinions to himself. He probably is one of the nicest guy’s involved, or formally involved with football and that’s cool, but guess what? Nobody wants to hear his warm and fuzzy opinions. And PFT should lead the way in not printing anything this guy says. It’s F$#@^&G football, not figure skating. I would rather hear from someone like Bobby Knight who tells it like it is, than this MilkToast!
