NFL reviewing Nick Collins incident

The altercation late on Monday night between Packers safety Nick Collins and a fan in the stands at Soldier Field has the attention of the NFL.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello told the Associated Press the league is “in the process of reviewing all the facts.”

FOX 6 in Milwaukee shot video after the game that reportedly depicts Collins throwing his mouthpiece at a fan and yelling something toward the stands after the game. Collins’ teammate, Donald Driver, then restrained him before things could escalate. Collins later apologized.

According to FOX 6, Collins said he was provoked by a fan who called him the N-word, and there are also reports that Collins was spit on. Robert Littal of BlackSportsOnline.com makes the good suggestion that the Bears should revoke the fan’s season ticket if that’s the case.

UPDATE: Sports by Brooks points out that FOX 6 has posted some still images from its video and asked viewers to help identify the fans pictured.
