@ Playtowinthegame – overrated? they’ve won two division games already, smacked the patriots up at home and won a hard fought game at miami, a team which everybody’s been talking up early this season. no talent? you’re a joke. LT is eating defenses up 7 yards at a time, Sanchez has 6 TD 0 INT (only other starting QB’s who have 0 INT are Peyton Manning and Michael Vick), Cromartie has two picks on the season so far, Holmes is a superbowl MVP and he hasn’t even put his two cents in yet. The Jets have a great group of linebackers, the best pair of CB’s in the league, a hell of a safety in Jim Leonhard, an offensive line that did a great job against the Dolphins pass rush (which got after Favre all game, caused a couple of picks too). wanna talk about the jets? go get a clue first.

Well yes and no. Any team can sign any player on any team’s practice squad, assuming:
1) The player wants to go (they do have veto power – happened when [I think] Cleveland tried to sign a guy off the Pats’ practice squad a year or two ago)
2) The team signing them keeps them on the roster for……is it 3 games? 4 games? I think it’s 3.

It was about making the final 45 not making the final 53. McKnight still has a higher upside as a 3rd down RB and return man for next season and beyond. The Jets don’t need a contributing 3rd RB on the roster right now. Woodhead and C. Washington have less upside–wish them well, but their wasn’t room.
As for Leon–As previously noted, he had a fair contract and turned it down. It was a cost cutting move by the Jets (used the pick to select John Connor). Although I think Rex would have gotten the most out of Leon, Tanny didn’t want to risk a malcontent (who had health questions)–who had no future with the team past this year…in the locker room with guys like Mangold, DBrick, Revis, Harris, Cromartie, Edwards, Holmes…and more all in contract seasons at the start of training camp.
Can you imagine the field day the media would have had with Leon (and his wife!) on questions about other players getting or needing contracts? A Florio dream.
It was the fair move to Leon to trade him (specifically to the RB needy Seahawks). The Jets did him well even after his agent screwed him on the contract. That is the glass half full view of the Jets knowing what their doing and treating a player fairly and doing well by them.

Great move for the Rams. Chauncey never impressed me until this pre-season. He looked good. Good attitude. Leader.
Rams should let him and Jackson share carried when he gets back.

Well, I’ve read and reread the article 5 times and still can’t find the part where GR says the pick of McKnight was “somehow franchise crippling”.
He simply points out the fact, and it is a fact, that the selection and subsquent retention of McKnight on the roster has led to them losing Chauncey Washington. And he is 100% accurate that CW outplayed JM by miles in camp- it wasn’t even close.
I love how the fanboys treat articles on here that are in any way critical of their team as some sort of personal attack against them.

That’s a good pick up, more so for special teams play than a true backup for SJ39. They just had to put WR Dominique Curry on IR and he was making plays on STs. I think Chauncey will be an upgrade there and a good RB.

Not only did it cost them Leon Washington and now Chauncy Washington, it also cost them Danny Woodhead. If they’d just taken John Conner there, they would have also saved a few late round picks used to move up. Overall, Joe McKnight better be worth it, because he was a pretty expensive 4th round pick.

That’s a great move by the Rams ,this kid has talent ,big & powerfull runner, The Jets were stuck in a saving face situation reguarding this kid and J.Mcknight ,since they traded away fan fav. Leon Washington and used that pick to draft Mcknight ,they couldn’t pull the plug on him so soon even though he was a complete bum in OTA’s and camp and preseason s game’s (4 fumbles) Chauncey is better player…..

Also please note that Leon Washington had a more than fair deal on the table that he refused to sign, on the advice of his joke of an agent..BEFORE he got hurt. If he had signed that deal he might still be a Jet, either way to position losing the two Washingtons as some sort of major deal is foolish.
