Bart Scott says Ravens are probably "jealous as hell" of Trevor Pryce

Defensive lineman Trevor Pryce made waves on Thursday when he signed with the Jets at a time when the Ravens had cut him and hoped to re-sign him.

Now, Jets linebacker Bart Scott, never content to say nothing at all, has jumped into the fray, asserting that other Ravens likely wish that they had the opportunity to join Pryce with the Jets.

“I
guarantee you that there’s probably guys in the same spot right now
jealous as hell
,” Scott saiid, per Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News.  “Trevor probably gets texts like, ‘Man,
come get me too.’  I guarantee you there’s at least 15 other players over
there praying to God that they get released for a half a day too, so
they can come over here.”

Scott specifically thinks that Pryce jumped at the chance to play for Rex Ryan.

“That
just shows you how much love people have for Rex,” Scott said. “I’m
sure they had every intention of bringing him back on Monday.  But he
picked Rex.”

Though Mehta points out that Pryce will receive the balance of his $2 million base salary from the Ravens plus whatever he makes from the Jets, Pryce has to make the affirmative election to take ongoing checks from the Ravens as termination pay.  Per a league source, Pryce has until January 15 to make a final decision.

So why would he wait?  There’s a chance that the Jets will decide not to keep Pryce for the rest of the year, and that Pryce may find himself again looking for work.  If the Ravens are miffed about getting stiffed (and they supposedly aren’t), they could decide never to bring him back if he tries to double dip.

Apparently, Bart Scott is an idiot. Didn’t his team just get beat by the Ravens less than 3 weeks ago? Short memory. Should probably make him take the drug test.

So what? he would already have the money in his pocket. He is in control of the situation and should just take the money already.

  12. MSWRavens says: Oct 1, 2010 12:31 PM

Lets see. Trevor Pryce is a back-up in Baltimore who has registered 1 tackle in 3 games. Came here from Denver, had something to prove & was a force. Now he’s a 14 yr veteran who came to camp out of shape (after a career as one of the best conditioned players in the business), worked his way into shape, couldn’t crack the starting lineup & has yet to contribute. Maybe he did want to move on or move out…and there’s no doubt that he loved Rex, as most every player on Baltimore’s D loved Rex. But it’s not considered much of a loss here…and there’s not a starter here that would want to leave a team that whipped the Jets ass to go to the Jets team that got its ass whooped.
Bart Scott is still just being the same obnoxious loud mouth he always has been – he’d be the 1st to admit it…and face it, if he didn’t open his mouth, no one would know who Bart Scott is.
Case in point – he plays next to David Harris, who is a MUCH better LB than Bart. Most avergae fans wouldn’t know that. Why? Because Harris just goes out and plays ball at a very high level, whereas Bart plays his same old average game on the field and plays like an All Pro when it comes to running his yap to the media. Good for him – he’s obviously more interested in making coin than retiring with any rings!!!

  13. RayLew52 says: Oct 1, 2010 12:33 PM

I’m sure tons of Ravens players are dying to play for the team they beat in week one (sarcasm)… Not to mention the Ravens currently have the top D in the league, without any help from Pryce this year, so good riddance. I’d rather have Ken Hamlin for our banged up secondary.
That said, I’ve met Rex and he is a great guy. I was bummed when the Ravens didn’t promote him and instead elected to go with the inexperienced Harbaugh.

  14. grr215 says: Oct 1, 2010 12:34 PM

I guess when you work out for the Jets as a free-agent they give you the statndard physical, an interview, a fitness test and the evaluate your ability to talk sh*t…..alot of it! But hey i aint mad at it its quasi-entertaining. If they win it all it was talk that they backed up, if they lose its an epic fail. Kind of a win win for fans/haters alike.

  20. Alleged_Free says: Oct 1, 2010 12:37 PM

The Ravens are probably jealous as hell? Yeah, I’m sure they’re all jealous he left for the team that the Ravens beat. Bart Scott needs to shut his fat yap and realize the Jets aren’t that good. The Jets are the Vikings of the AFC. Loads of weapons, great defense, but very questionable at QB and at head coach. Though i’d take Rex over Chilly.
He needs to realize the Ravens made him. Ray Lewis made him. Haven’t really heard much from Bart since he left. I’ll still take Ray over him.

  21. BCfromHell says: Oct 1, 2010 12:39 PM

The only think Trevor Price jumped at was a last payday before he retires. Collecting his full vested 2010 salary from the Ravens and now a prorated 2010 salary from the Jets to play in a system he already knows. It’s easy money for a guy who’s basically a rotational back-up.
Bart ‘Carnival Barker’ Scott is just making noise for the sake of noise. The unfortunate thing for him, is that he’s far better at making outrageous statements then he is at playing LB.
Bark, bark, bark little doggie…, you’ll be watching the play-offs from Home.

What do the jets have that the ravens would be jealous of? He really doesn’t mind showing the public what an idiot he is does he? Think ima sell that scott ravens jersey I have, seeing as how he’s become worthless ever since donning green and white….

the only people more IGNORANT then the “reporter” who wrote this piece are the raven fan/bart scott fan club cast-off’s/jets haters.
while i’ll admit bart does not shut up, saying he’s done nothing is pure ignorance. the whole point to his comment, and mehta’s article (if anyone read it or had it read to for them, since I know the general IQ of ravens fans are pretty low) is the fact that players like to play for rex and will do most anything for him or to play for him, even if it means leaving thier current team where they are comfortable (and under-performing, but I digress)
so players like to play for rex? there’s a revelation – and where this “reporter’s” ignorance is showing. as per his m.o., florio continues to do a bang up job reporting on the obvious, bringing no new insight to the story, and otherwise being a waste of reporting space.

    ——————————————-
Wrong, the Steelers definitely have the BEST D right now, no question but per NFL stats (which looks at yards allowed instead of points allowed) crowned the Ravens the number one D this week.
After this weeks game Steelers and Ravens D will undoubtedly be 1 and 2 no matter the order as this will be another low scoring game.

  45. shaunypoo says: Oct 1, 2010 2:07 PM

Rex Ryan was a hell of a D-Coordinator, but if he doesn’t start instilling some discipline in his players, the team will fall apart. Lack of discipine off the field leads to lack of discipline on the field. He may be a players coach, and the players may love that, but you need to bring the hammer down once in awhile. Judging by the punishment for Braylon, everyone will be getting at least one free pass.

  46. HarrisonHits says: Oct 1, 2010 2:09 PM

A Jets player opens his mouth and douchebag comments come out. How surprising.
What else would anyone expect from Rexy’s pack of vermin at this point ?

  47. JetsFan1003 says: Oct 1, 2010 2:12 PM

Completely agree with Tony Romo: and not only are AttackRaven’s comments racist, they are also inaccurate.
Let’s see, Sanchez is the 6th highest rated QB in the NFL and has zero interceptions in 3 games (VERY bust-like, you betcha!). Let’s take a look at the Ravens QB Flacco – he is 27th rated QB with five interceptions… hmmm.. now if I were going to use “bust” on one of them, which one should I choose???
So tempting, but in reality the term applies to neither one. Sunday’s Ravens vs Steelers game should be very entertaining and it will be interesting to see how Flacco does vs. the Steeler defense. If Steelers win and Pryce plays well for the Jets and gets a sack vs. Buffalo, it wont be any fun to be a Raven fan on Monday. Of course if the SOJ from years past show up in Buffalo, it wont be fun to be a Jet fan Monday either!

  48. ingreenmts says: Oct 1, 2010 2:13 PM

The point is if Florio got his head out of the sand that people who have played for Rex will leave elsewhere to play for him again. The players like his style and play their heart out for him. How often do you hear the players say they chose a team based on who the coach was? As for 10-9, yes the Ravens won. By one point. One. Perhaps the 2-1 Ravens (beat Jets and Browns) will see the 2-1 Jets (beat Miami and Patriots) again this year.

  49. ravenfan820 says: Oct 1, 2010 2:16 PM

  50. PARavensJeff says: Oct 1, 2010 2:44 PM

HAHAHA – No harm losing Pryce, class guy, smart guy, played well for about a year & a half, but definatly @ the end of career. He doesn’t have much left in the tank, 1 tackle in games this year. . I think Bart Scott is still smarting that the Ravens didn’t sign him 2 years ago, so just more sour grapes from his free agency experience. Hey Bart, what was that final score of game 1 of the season? 10-9? SCOREBOARD!! I think Rex Ryan would sign anyone who ever was in Baltimore, even some obscure player who was on the practce squad a week or 2. This guy is just like Scott, pissed he didn’t get hired when Billick was fired & Harbaugh got the job. The only 1 who is jealous or envious is Bart & Rex.

  52. Danwhitmer says: Oct 1, 2010 3:03 PM

    @HamBurghlar
You are incorrect, How can you say you are the NFL’s best defense ? You only lead in 1 catagory.
Steelers : Against the pass 17th, Against the run 3rd, Total YPG 6th
Ravens : Against the pass 1st, Against the run 22nd, Total YPG 1st.
I am not claiming the Ravens are the best Defense in the NFL ( they are both good ) But more so I am pointing out that both teams have holes in the defense. Thing is both are good enough to overcome there wholes. The Ravens are not going to give up an average of 127 yrds a gae on the ground. They are better than that, And with Troy Polomalu back the Steelers secondary is able to make a game changing play at any time!

Here’s what people need to realize. Rex is the ultimate players coach. Guys love to play for him for obvious reasons: he says what he means, he defends his players 100% and he genuinly cares about them. He knows how to get them fired up, what guy doesnt want to play for that kind of coach?
The other side of the story is that while Rex is an absolute players coach through and through, he is an average (at best) in-game coach. When it comes to making decision throughout the course of the game, he is nothing special. He can game plan all he wants and fire up his players and get them to buy into his system but his in-game calls are nothing to be jealous of.
It’s why players love to play for him but his coaching record is 11-8 despite a wealth of talent.

  56. shaslers says: Oct 1, 2010 3:25 PM

Pryce had a choice. He could sit out this week, and hope the Ravens would live up to their “promise” to bring him back as a rotational player. But he had to wonder, would they? How committed to this idea were they, despite the tale of the tape where Trevor spent much of the Browns game in week three on the turf. Despite the evidence that Brandon McKinney has been out playing him at DE. Despite the knowledge, too, that Paul Kruger was ready to come back from a shoulder injury this week.
He could bide his time and wait. Or he could try his luck with a coach who wants him, and a team that is willing to pay him an extra $750,000 more than he was scheduled to get this year.
Yeah. There is probably more to the story than Ravens players being jealous — well, envious is the correct word that Bart really meant to use. In actuality, Bart is jealous and Trevor is envious, but since this isn’t grammar class I’ll leave it at that.
The point is that Bart knows there is more to the story than petty emotions, but he’s always had a playful/combative chip on his shoulder that makes him act this way, ever since coming into the league as an UDFA. Rex does a good job brainwashing these guys into thinking everyone is against them except Rex. Because that’s how Rex sees his own world.
It creates loyalty, but it also creates the kind of crap that gets Rex and his players in trouble. Like Bart throwing yellow hankies into the stands, or throwing footballs at Ray Rice’s head in pre-game warm-ups.
Rex and Bart are in New York because Steve Bisciotti wanted his team to play like Ravens — he had grown weary of seeing them play like Jets.

The Jets have New York going for them, but the jets really havent been relevant since what? super bowl 3? Bart scott is surely confused. Granted, no one in his or her right mind would want to live in baltimore, but as a team, the raisins are much more complete than the jets. The only big thing the ravens need help with is their secondary. once the injury bug starts to bite the ancient non existent depth of the jets, they’re done.

if it wasn’t for kyle wilsons pass interference call on third down that sent the ravens from fourth down to first and goal on the 1 yard line, the score would have been 6-6 at that point. the jets ended up scoring 9, the ravens didn’t score anything after that drive. the ravens won on a penalty, when revis wasn’t in prime condition to play on boldin, without holmes in the mix. if we see the ravens in the playoffs, i’m not worried.

should be a no holds barred brawl, take no prisoners. Go Ravens.

Now that is what I call Talking like a Jet!
    You know….sound envious and stupid.
    Don’t be a Jet.
    Jets let Jets drive drunk.

I wonder who Bart is taking to the Prom????
Bart is a great fit for people like Jetsfan.
Anybody that thinks Mark Sanchez is a better QB than Flacco deserves Bart Scott talking about envy.

Flacco, The Prom Queen. Win by a point and you’re mouthy world beaters. We’ll see you again.

“I guarantee you there’s at least 15 other players over there praying to God that they get released for a half a day too, so they can come over here.”
Let me see if I got this straight: there are at least 15 guys on the Ravens that would jump at the chance to work with Rex. And if they were each cut for a day, they would each defect to the Jets.
So, if I understand Bart Scott correctly, there’s at least 15 crap players on his defense that the coaches would willingly get rid of to make room for Ravens players? I’d take this statement as an insult if I was one of his teammates.

    @ El Moron
A 1 point win is still a win, I believe….The best part of the Monday Night game was the Ravens showed who the best defense was and has been..

  82. elmoron says: Oct 4, 2010 9:31 PM

Yeah, you certainly proved that absurd point against Cincinnati.

Bart Scott, Edgerton Hartwell, Jamie Sharper, Adalius Thomas.
Yes…Long line of LBs that have thrived playing in the shadow of Ray Lewis.
Rex Ryan, Mike Nolan, Mike Singletary, Marvin Lewis, Jack Del Rio.
Yes..Long line of coaches that road Ray’s defensive coat tails.
No wonder Rex is scrambling to find more of those Ray Lewis Shadow players…Scott, Leonhard, Price. A Ray Lewis Raven shadow is likely still better than a Jet.
Unfortunately, most players just accept their good luck to play next to Ray and ride their good fortune to a big pay check. Then there is the Curious Case of Bart Scott. Must be some other kind of envy involved here.

Everyone saw Who’s Yer Daddy on Sunday when joe threw the TD pass….Tomlin believed in his defense and they got embarrassed…..
