Jared Gaither may be running out time

It sounds like Ravens coach John Harbaugh has grown weary of starting tackle Jared Gaither.

Previously criticized for his work ethic, Gaither has barely practiced all year because of a mysterious back injury.  He’s been the subject of trade rumors, but hasn’t stepped on the field enough for anyone to want him.

Gaither practiced Wednesday, then aggravated his back.  He’s going to see another specialist.  At some point, the Ravens may just choose to end Gaither’s season.  Ravens doctors can’t determine the problem.

“Obviously the clock is ticking on something like that,” coach John Harbaugh said. “His injury’s been a mystery. It’s been almost 2 weeks since Dr. Watkins in LA said would be the outside limit.”

If Baltimore’s offensive line was playing better this season, the Ravens may have already given up waiting for Gaither to return.

  1. Bring back “Big Willie”. Never mind, he’s been trying to tudor Andre Smith behind the scenes in Cincy. It’s a shame a tackle taken 6th overall last year needs tudoring. Guess it would help if he could read the play book.

    He also needs a Manziere.

  3. this guy was a suplamental (bum) draft canidate. he was not taken 6th overall in a real athletes’ draft.
    check your facts.

  4. Gaither sounds like he has contracted JaMarcusitis. He has the money, and now he doesn’t want to put forth any effort. Like a lottery winner or JaMarcus “Bubba Bling the Mamga King” Russell, Jared has retired.
NFL players should all have performance-based contracts that are not only tied to personal performance, but also team wins and losses. Then again, the League should use third-party officials that aren’t protected by the League. Oh well . . . it would be nice. I guess it would have to be renamed National Fantasy League, because it just isn’t going to happen.

while people check their facts, you should check your spelling. it’s “supplemental”, and it’s “candidate”.

  7. myeaglescantwin…. you know stevecinci was referring to Andre Smith being taken 6th overall.
You have to hate it when you go all snotty on a post only to find out you were wrong.

  8. there were reasons he was in the supplemental draft! I think he is a football by default and would rather play basketball and be a chef! Oh, I think he is a sissy also.

hey tool, he was talking about andre smith… check your reading.

  10. Can Vernon Davis call up Gaither and tell him to stop being a p*ssy and disgracing all ex terrapins. And why you’re at it Vernon call DHB and ask him why Louis Murphy makes him look like a 6th rd pick.

  11. What a shame. Guy has all the talent in the world. Deal was he hated school & just wanted to play ball. came in as 5th Rd Supp draft pick & started to show his promise.
Now we learn it wasn’t school he hated…it was work. he’s a lazy, good for nothing POS who will never realize his talent.
    What a shame.

  12. I seem to remember Gaither wanted a new contract and the Ravens stone walled him. Gaither has been a very valuable tackle for the Ravens, as I’ve seen him perform very well against the Bengals, so if he thinks he is underpaid maybe he is saying, okay fine, stiff me, see where it gets you.

  13. Not only did the team not give him a new contract but forced him to switch positions from the left side to the right side, something he and his agent was firmly against after being rated as one of best young LT in the league last year. My guess is he’s angling to get put on the IR
