A painfully close loss by the Panthers in New Orleans just got a little more painful.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith has a high ankle sprain. The team will evaluate the injury further on Monday.
Not all high ankle sprains are created equal, but the injury often causes players to miss multiple weeks. (Andre Johnson played through his high ankle sprain, then missed the following week.)
The bright side: It’s hard to imagine the Panthers passing game getting that much worse.
