Giants defense dominates Bears in 17-3 win

Sunday night’s game wasn’t pretty, which is probably just how the Giants like it.

New York evened their record at 2-2 with a convincing 17-3 win over the Bears in a game they knocked Bears quarterback Jay Cutler out at halftime. They knocked out Cutler’s backup Todd Collins in the fourth quarter -- Caleb Hanie came in -- and finished with ten sacks for the game.

In a contest where the Giants struggled to score, they did manage to have a few standout offensive performances. Ahmad Bradshaw piled up 145 total yards from scrimmage with exceptionally tough running. (He also had another fumble near the goal line.) He’s turning into a Pro Bowl caliber runner. Hakeem Nicks showed sticky fingers and nifty moves during his eight catches and 110 yards.

With a trip to Houston this week, this was a game the Giants absolutely had to win. The team’s pass protection needs work, but everyone in the NFC East has problems. 2-2, after all, is good for first place.
