Report: Brees has minor MCL sprain

Last week against the Falcons, Saints quarterback Drew Brees seemed to injure his knee.

Coach Sean Payton insisted during the week that Brees merely has some soreness.  Payton wouldn’t call it an “injury”; he even balked at the characterization of it as a “situation.”

As it turns out, Ed Werder of ESPN reports that Brees suffered a minor MCL sprain.  Despite the injury/situation/soreness/whatever, Werder says that the Saints’ game plan hasn’t been altered in any way by the injury/situation/soreness/whatever.  Brees nevertheless work a brace on his knee in practice this week.

The Saints did not list Brees on the injury report, even though “probable” means that the player has an injury and that he is virtually certain to play.

In Washington, Brees surely would have been listed as questionable.

Either Sean Paytoxyn is too high to realize he’s hurt, or he’s already given him some of his stash to help with the pain.

    Madden Curse?
Brees has completed over 73% of his passes so far this season. He may break his own season completion percentage record set last year.
