From what I’ve seen, nobody is making light of the injury to the kid. Just ripping on the Packers in general, and Ted Thompson’s inability to field a roster with any depth whatsoever. What does that say about the team’s faith in the guy when they planned on replacing him in the starting lineup with a guy they picked up int the 3rd round?

The only reason Burnett was slated to start ahead of Bigby was because Bigby didn’t show up to mini-camps so Burnett was plugged in. Packers will probably go 2-2 over the next month of the season. I’m ok with that considering it would mean they are still at the top of the division.

I for one has never wished injury upon Brett Favre. I see stuff like that immature and stupid, but let’s not pretend it is only Packer fans that say that crap. I talk to NFL fans around the country on a pretty regular basis, and I have heard fans of all kinds of different teams say that stuff. In fact if I had to truly access the situation I would say for every NFL fan that respects him, there are three that hate his guts. Warranted? Probably not, but that’s what happens when people just get sick of hearing about the guy.

if only the pckers had a real rb, or an o-line that was able to run block or pass block, or another pass rusher besides matthews, or lb’s that could cover over the middle, or a competent kick coverage unit, or punter, or coach, or a g.m. who was actually able to bring himself to spend money to improve the team when necessary, or a god that wasn’t apparently insistent on punishing the pckers for their treatment of brett favre… any of these things, an i might be able to offer some small morsel of encouragement about this latest setback…

Sumeria, all of us fans in the NFCN hope harris is able to come back but we have to be realistic, at his age and with the kind of injury he had, it’s very, very unlikely that will happen.
as for bigby, he is sadly unable to cover anybody altho i think there was 1 year he was a good hitter, i can’t remember what year.
i think that the pckers should definitely play out the season, there is absolutely no reason for them to just give up and stop playing at this point, and the league probly wouldn’t even allow it anyhow. we just all need to be realistic about our expectations for the pckers now.

sand0, i agree except i think they look very, very, very, VERY vulnerable right now especially the pckers. when i heard the horrible news i felt physically sick at the thought of more injuries to the pckers 2ndary and the thought of all my little pcker fan buddies having to endure more of bush on the field. well maybe not physically sick but very, very, very concerned and sympathetic toward all of the world’s little pcker fans.

It is because Bear and Lion fans on here actually have class. They love their teams but respect the other teams who they share rivalries with. Now don’t get me wrong there are other football forums on the internet where Packer and Viking fans can have a rational conversation about football and are actually civil. I just seems this site attracts the losers. Most likely because it lightly moderated and their drivel can slip through fairly easily.
I actually give the most credit to Lions fans. With all the losing they have seen their team endure, they still stick by them. Could you imagine if the Vikings went 0-16? There would be like 2000 people in that stadium every game.

It’s next man up I guess but who will be that next man? No one great or promising.
Pervy, I don’t know what you are doing but quit playing with that voodoo doll dressed as a Packer. Just kidding. Trying to keep you happy getting your name mentioned without someone wanting to pick a fight with you.
When the Packers went to back-to-back Super Bowls they were mostly healthy but did run into a couple of injuries that were covered up by vets that knew how to play instead of getting thrown to the wolves. This year looks to be no different.
Except for that whole Super Bowl thing. All I can hope for now is the offense can outscore the other team. Time will tell.

Bad, bad news. These guys need to go back to wearing knee pads or something. Way too many of these injuries league wide.
Tough parts of the schedule coming up for both Vikes & Pack. Let’s see what happens. I’d say it depends more on which coach makes the stupidest move more so that which players are on the field. Neither one of them appears to be a genius. The way to beat the Pack appears to be to have a good outside running game and throw dinks & donks in the middle of the field after Hawk let’s it get clear.
Beat the Vike by keeping AD in check (as much as possible) & pressure on Favre. Getting an early lead is a huge plus.
Both teams have their faults–actually, no one really seems dominate at this point. We’ll see….
OK, more smack talk now…..

I actually enjoy reading the CryQueen fan’s comments, granted, they know little about football but that was well known before this post on Burnett.
I especially love how they take one game out of the entire season and project from there, ie, they beat the Lions and so did the Packers but because the Packer game was closer, somehow that translates into the Vikings being a better team.
The fact of the matter is that every team will suffer injuries and a key to the season is not to suffer them at the same position. Let’s get down the road a bit before we start claiming a Superbowl, and let’s see how the Vikings deal with their WR’s, Hank Baskett is not exactly keeping teams up at night trying to figure out how to stop them.

Packers have Bigby coming back and 2 pro bowlers in their secondary to help any new guys.

Not good. Not good at all. Martin is serviceable, but Burnett had the makings of becoming a real playmaker. Hopefully Bigby comes back as the Bigby of 07 and not of 08.

By all means, celebrate the team being better than you coming back to the pack through injuries… but I don’t know that it’ll matter much if/when you’re 1-6.

I love how Packer fans keep saying how a game in which the Lions never got closer than 14 points throughout the final 20 minutes came “down to the wire.”
Stop trying to make yourselves feel better about the near loss to Detroit by saying the Lions “almost” beat the Vikes. In what world is leading by 2 TD’s the entire 4th quarter considered a close game? I guess Buffalo “almost” beat GB as well, the Packers only had a 2 TD lead in the 3rd quarter.
