The Vikings have followed New England’s lead and confirmed the acquisition of Randy Moss. Brad Childress will meet with the media at 3:30 ET, and Moss will be available to reporters after practice on Thursday.
“We feel very good about the opportunity to add a player of Randy Moss’ caliber to this football team,” Childress said in a statement Wednesday. “He is a tremendous competitor and was an integral member of the Vikings organization from 1998-2004.
“Once again, ownership was completely supportive of our efforts to add a valuable football player to our team. I know the entire organization is thrilled to welcome him back to the Twin Cities and look forward to his contributions.”
Our Coaching Translator says that really means: “Favre runs the offense anyway, so I may as well give up complete control and hope we make the playoffs.”
One other bit of housekeeping here: Judd Zulgad of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune and Adam Schefter of ESPN reports the Vikings will get New England’s 2012 seventh-round pick as part of the trade. That nugget may send Patriots fans over the edge.
