Mark Anderson heads to Houston

A strange game of defensive end musical chairs that started earlier this week has moved to step three.

On Monday, the Omaha Nighthawks of the UFL cut Charles Grant. A day later, the UFL’s trash bin was wheeled into Halas Hall, with the Bears signing the 2002 first-rounder.

The Bears cut defensive end Mark Anderson to create a spot for Grant.

Now, a day later, the Texans have signed Anderson, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.

The move means a few things. First, it looks like Aaron Schobel-to-Houston won’t be happening, at least not for now. Second, Anderson will be entitled to collect the balance of his base salary from the Bears and keep his salary from the Texans. Third, the circle will be complete if the guy the Texans cut to create a space for Anderson signs on Thursday with a UFL team, preferably the Nighthawks.
