i would bring Graham in, is he great, no, BUT unlike Suisham, he is more consistant at kicking.

This is obviously a step in the process of bringing in a new wide receiver via a trade. I presume Gostowski is part of deal with Carolina to obtain Steve Smith.
Pats send a third round pick, Gostowski, and Edelman to Carolina for Steve Smith.
Steve Smith’s injury is superficial, he has “Jimmy Clauson is my QB and I’m not risking my career for him while we go 0-16″
Why Gostowski? because field goals are the only way Carolina will score this year.

Kickers are a quirky bunch, and the slightest change in their routine can throw them into a “funk”. Good planning, Pats… throw your kicker INTO a funk when he’s nailing it pretty well. Can’t let the offense be the only group up-ended this week.

They are just updating the rolodex on who to call if anyone gets hurt– they do this for every single position, no matter how good the people are who play that position.
It doesn’t mean they will sign them (that is rare), it means they know instantly who to call should an injury happen, and injuries often happen.

Stephen Gostkowksi is under contract for the next 4 yrs at 4 million a year. So this is just to keep Steven honest and so he doesn’t get to be complacent. Also it may be that they need a scout team kicker. I have no idea what goes through Nick C the personel expert and coach Belichick when they bring in players for a tire kicking exercise every week. But it is what it is.

guys relax…its very common for the teams to bring in players for tryouts to evaluate them so they can make an emergency list of people to call if anyone gets hurt.
Gostkowski is not in danger, and probably not hurt at all, its pretty common, especially in a bye week.
And his contract isnt up, they just resigned him this off season

I dont understand there thinking at times ,Gostowski is probable the best if not top 2 or 3 kickers in the NFL, whats the problem is his contract up at the end of the year as well???
