Jets players happy Brett Favre wound up elsewhere

Brett Favre’s one-year stay with the Jets has already been so thoroughly forgotten than it’s barely a storyline heading into Monday night’s game. (A certain wide receiver trade may have something to do with that.)

Favre wasn’t in New York long enough to make much of an impact.

“It was quick,” guard Brandon Moore told Rich Cimini of ESPNNewYork.com. “He got here in August and he was gone in December. He was in and out. It was a lot of fun in the beginning, but it ended badly.”

Another player said, “It’s like he wasn’t even here.”

And those were the guys that were kind when asked about Favre this week. There was some resentment by Jets players that New York wasn’t his preferred destination for a trade.

“I’m not going to say ‘good riddance,’ but put it this way: I’m glad it worked out the way it did,” one anonymous player told Cimini.

Another was asked about Favre’s claim that Rex Ryan could have possibly convinced him to return to the Jets in 2009.

“Are you serious?” one player said. “I’ve got better things to do than answer Favre what-ifs.”

Somewhere, a bunch of Green Bay Packers are silently nodding.
