Two douchy teams. What we’re getting out of this whole Favre mess is what a fall from grace that befallen Queen (previously Lord) Favre. The queen was the golden child of the NFL, who (most) everyone rooted for, the aging vet who could still play and wanted to. Then came the waffling and crying and holding of franchises hostage with his indecisions.
Finally the Packers drafted his future. Did Burt embrace and take the young guy under his wing? No. The the aging vet shunned and refused to have anything to do with the young gun. Then he demanded his own parking spot and dressing area so he wouldn’t have to associate with his teammates. The whole retirement and crying and then demanding the Pack take back after they moved on. He stamped his feet and forced his way out to the Jets, where he did terrible, shunned his teammates and “retired”. Then he went where he wanted to go all along, the Packers rival.
He “retired” and then refused to come back until they gave him a gigantic payraise and had his personal entourage kiss his ass to come back, conveniently at the end of training camp.
His PR guys may try to project him as an aw-shucks and down-to-earth farmboy who wears his Wranglers. In reality, he’s a cranky old man who thinks he’s bigger than his teammates who are there to do his bidding, the coach, the organization and the NFL.
Is it any wonder most rationale football fans hate the diva that is Bret Favre?

You don’t get it. That was a parody of the media who scold paying fans for cheering/booing who they want to. Because we should feel we’re in these guys’ “debt” for having paid to watch them play a game (and make millions in the process).
Boo Favre all you want, I will be right there with you. But know you were never held to the standard Philly fans were – who were seemingly expected to cheer McNabb for 60 minutes last week.
Just know that ESPN and has-been Pam Oliver will equate you with Ho Chi Mihn for having exercised that right as a paying customer.

Re the comments of the big brave Jets players fond of anonymous comments and locker room petulance – and the blindered PFT commenters who keep sour-grapeing Favre’s accomplishments by saying things like he’s been done and over for a long time – 2009 wasn’t a long time ago, at least not on my calendar. That season was basically four games ago, and no one knows how this season will end.
I think it’s going to be a season of highs and low lows for both the Vikes and the Pack, rather than a consistent-performance year, but I don’t know either. I do know, however, that denigrating one of the greats of the game AUTOMATICALLY, just because his name is mentioned, only mnakes the commenter looks stupid. Just like everyone else, Favre is deserving of condemnation for some things and praise for others. He’s neither perfect NOR a perfect villain.
No one factor makes a team great or lousy – that’s why they call it a team. When all the elements come together in the best possible way – owners, players, coaches, injuries and rehabs, acquisitions, releases, drafts, weather, location, timing, etc., etc., etc., we get great games and great seasons.
What we could use more of is great comments. Appreciate the varied but thoughtful remarks of ozu, dcnflfan, mrsteve, dlmcc0909, pkrlvr, vikingsprincess and deeppurple23.

BrINT might have been there only a few months but Jenn is sure to remember his short time there.
What the Jets aren’t saying is this, “We worked our asses off all year to get to the playoffs, we sure are happy not to have BrINT on our team once we get there. The last two NCF Championship games, his last offensive play ended in an INT and his team lost. Boy, are we glad it wasn’t the Jets either time because a choker is the worse sort of teammate you can have unless you play on a choker team, ah, kinda like the 0-5 record in NFC championship games or the 0-4 Superbowl record for the Vikings which qualifies them as the biggest choke team in NFL history, then BrINT fits them like a glove”

Jets are 3 point favorites at home. Home field usually accounts for 3 points. So the general public doesn’t think the Jets are any better than the Vikes. Your coach just gave a glowing review of the Vikings team.
You are underestimating the Vikings. This will be a very tough battle for your team. The Vikings weren’t beaten badly by the Dolphins or Saints and now they have their corners back and a guy named Moss.
