Pierre Thomas ruled out for Saints

We have some good news for Ladell Betts’ fantasy owners and bad news for Saints fans.

Pierre Thomas will miss his second straight game with an ankle sprain, meaning Betts and Chris Ivory will handle the running back load against the Cardinals on the road.

Safety Roman Harper (hamstring), defensive end Will Smith (groin), and safety Pierson Prioleau are all questionable. Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams said Smith looked good in drills Friday, so it appears he’ll play. Harper told the New Orleans Times-Picayune he should be ready to go.

Williams also said defensive tackle Sedrick Ellis is having a Pro Bowl-caliber season, and is looking so slender he may play cornerback this weekend. Randall Gay may tried at defensive tackle.
