Two days from game day, Jets bring in a former Viking

Well, well, well.

With the Vikings coming to town for a Monday night game, the New York Jets have decided to sign to their practice squad a player whom the Vikings released from their practice squad on Wednesday.

Receiver Logan Payne has joined the Jets, the team announced today.

The move fits with the Jets’ m.o. of bringing in players who were dumped by their next opponent.

Payne had signed with the Vikings on September 5, so he was there long enough to know enough to help the Jets finalize their game plan against the Vikings.

In turn, the Jets cut running back Xavier Omon from the practice squad.  Maybe the Vikings will now sign him.

The best team in the NFL just got better!

Just like the Jets fabricating these recent allegations against Favre that even though they allegedly occurred years ago, they magically appear this week, they play dirty again. The Pats have nothing on these Jets. Karma is a bitch Jet fans, and the big let down is coming.

Scum bags I can’t wait for the vikes to dominate them in their own home

Jets…the biggest joke in the NFL… Jabba The Ryan, Afraid of Randy Revis, Softshell Sanchez,Twilight Tomlinson ,Huffer Holmes and their newest player Scandal Starter Sturgeon Nose….what a bunch of clowns waiting for a beatdown….
Good luck…like Logan knows jack shit…..

  5. AllDayAP says: Oct 9, 2010 6:51 PM

Yes because a practice squad guy knows what the real guys on the team will be game planning for……

  6. frank booth says: Oct 9, 2010 7:06 PM

Yeah, but suppose he’s a counterspy that the Vikings have cut purposely, and knowing that he would go back to the Jets, have given him faulty information.
Logan Payne is a good spy name.

  7. iampats says: Oct 9, 2010 7:08 PM

Don’t forget to make him a Captain for MNF.

  8. thegreenelantern says: Oct 9, 2010 7:23 PM

This is the Jets MO? they did once before the patriots game last year, and signed a dolphins WR weeks (plural) before they played them.

  9. millims says: Oct 9, 2010 7:25 PM

Rex Ryan and the Jets coaching staff are to me lazy and dont want to do scouting and research thats why they resort to signing players from teams they are suppose to meet in order to get information about their scheme..Thats too cheap. If you dont need the player dont sign them and cut them after you play the team they came from.
The Jets should grow up , am just sick of hearing these kind of stuff

  10. wildfan says: Oct 9, 2010 7:30 PM

Rex Ryan and the clowns that run the Jets bring low class management and thug/scumbaggery to a whole new level. Bill Belicheck taped opponents practicing, Rex Ryan just signs players of practice squads. Douchebags like that are all cut from the same cloth.

  11. VikingsPrincess says: Oct 9, 2010 7:34 PM

So the Jets have a history of doing this, huh? Sounds like a team that’s afraid it can’t win without inside information.
Lots of “coincidences” occurring this week over in NYC.

I’m sick of hearing about the Jets period.

  13. GBfanForever says: Oct 9, 2010 7:49 PM

I seriously doubt for one second any viking fan calling them scum bags would have objected if their team had pulled this move. They would rush to post comments here defending the team in fact.

  14. rex for president says: Oct 9, 2010 7:52 PM

all of you are jealous that you dont have a coach as great as rex! see you in the superbowl!

  15. CaptainMarvel says: Oct 9, 2010 7:58 PM

As I said even before this; classless. Dirty tricks. It might be legal, but it’s unethical and poor sportsmanship. But what do you expect from the Jets? Rex Ryan is a foul-mouthed braggart. Not even the biggest Jets fan can deny this. Revis runs-his-mouth non-stop, bragging about himself while criticizing others…and all while not even playing much yet. I guess when he’s bored he runs-his-mouth. His buddy Cromartie has what, 6 kids with 6 different women -that he knows of- although there’s a couple he forgets…and don’t ask him to remember their names. AND THESE PRICKS HAVE THE AUDACITY TO INVESTIGATE FAVRE???

  17. jakester says: Oct 9, 2010 8:05 PM

A coach as large as Rex, maybe, but not as great as Rex.

  18. greenmeattruck says: Oct 9, 2010 8:16 PM

all you viqueens fans pissing & moaning about this should take a good look at how often they do this with the packer’s castaways EVERY SEASON!!! judge not, lest thee be judged theyself!!! the purple peniseaters are just getting a taste of their own medicine!!!

  19. Fizz says: Oct 9, 2010 8:26 PM

They are desperate to try and back up all the shit talking coming out of their mouth. Vikes will dominate Monday night. The real Sanchez will show up. He won’t be long till defenses figure out that he can’t throw deep and all he does is throw to his tight end or running backs.

  20. JuicyMelon says: Oct 9, 2010 8:30 PM

Say what you want, but Logan had the potential to be a great receiver. Hopefully the Jets actually use him. I can’t believe we cut him of all the people from our squad. Stupid Move Vikes!!!!

  21. wildfan says: Oct 9, 2010 8:46 PM

GBfanForever – another GB fan that spends all his time running around trashing the Vikings because the QB you wanted to “move on from” is here now. Apparently all players the Packers discard are just supposed to ride off into the sunset, feeling blessed for having played for the puke yellow and booger green?
And for the record, if the Vikings did it once I would laugh. The Jets are making a season out of being lowlifes.

  22. Bob Loblaw says: Oct 9, 2010 8:52 PM

So Xavier Oman lost his job so the Jets can have Logan Payne at practice for one week to tell Rex Ryan that the Vikings plan to run Adrian Peterson and throw the ball to Randy Moss.

  23. purplepussEaters says: Oct 9, 2010 9:07 PM

As a Vikings fan, I think our coaching is Suspect at best. Therefore , I could not form an opinion on Rex and the Jets. Is this a strategy that works? I doubt it, but I cannot agree with Juicy Melon more. I think through all the talentless receivers the Vikings have played with so far. I am really surprised they didnt give this kid a look. He seems to be a hell of alot more talented than Greg Lewis or Hank The Tank Baskett…..
    I hope he does welll

  25. Harbs is the Man! says: Oct 9, 2010 9:16 PM

Gigantisaurus Rex is a fag. I know this article is not about him, but I know Jests fans will be on here posting, so know this NY fans: your coach is a fat, lazy, arrogant, ignorant, pompous, turd sandwich. Do Jets scout, and research and watch film? No, lets just be lazy and pay a guy the other team cut to tell us their secrets, then cut them loose when we’re done. We also like guys who have HUGE egos. Love em. Oh! And guys with off field issues! Especially WR who love drugs and DUIs! The over/under for Rex’s on field heart attack is 5 weeks. I pick the under.

  26. Bing253 says: Oct 9, 2010 9:27 PM

The only problem with this theory is most teams don’t allow practice squad players in on game planning or anything relevant that would help the Jets anymore than a good advance scout would know. So Logan won’t be able to help that much so read Pat Kirwans book if you want to understand the gamesmanship of football.

  27. TheSleepness says: Oct 9, 2010 9:49 PM

Payne is actually a WR I thought looked pretty good in his brief stint. Could be a decent ST player.

  29. Floriostoupee says: Oct 9, 2010 10:08 PM

  30. aec4 says: Oct 9, 2010 10:23 PM

Payne is a decent player, worth a look…
I doubt he knows a thing about the Vikes gameplan since, as we know, on Wednesday evening, their personnel at WR changed…

  31. Percy Nugz says: Oct 9, 2010 10:24 PM

Can someone please tell me why the Vikings cut this guy and Hank Basket and Greg Lewis continue to be employed?

  32. Calistin says: Oct 9, 2010 10:27 PM

And I’m sure Brett didn’t spill all his little secrets about GB last year to the Vikings.
    Please.
Vikings fans are such hypocrites and the sad thing is they keep spouting off looking like idiots.
It’s entertaining, I’ll say that much. It’s ok for my team to tamper, cheat, lie, and have players get in trouble, but OMFG if you do it. 1000 Vikings fans will let ya know.
    Rofl. Jokers, I love ya.

  35. PurplePeopleBeaters says: Oct 9, 2010 10:58 PM

I love how Viqueens fans are lashing out at the Jets. Is it because the Jets actually have a legitimate shot at the Super Bowl and your joke of a team/organization doesn’t?

  36. mcgr8569 says: Oct 9, 2010 11:10 PM

Disappointed with the Vikings fans’ comments on here. Let’s remember that Logan Payne was a part of the team (kind of) well before Moss was acquired. You would be hard pressed to find someone trying to argue that the offense hasn’t changed since Moss is back.
This is an irrelevant move that PFT blew out of proportion… don’t get me wrong I am not that PFT hater that is so prevalant – I love these kind of deep deep type of stories.
Honestly though, this signing means nothing, and it’s gonna be a helluva game on Monday. A must win for my Vikes!

Thank you for admitting that the goons running your team never change a game plan. Like say, from one season to the next…… I’m sure Longwell is still a font of valuable insight into the Packers organization. And that Javon Walker signing was all about gaining intel into the Packers too, right? Right…..

A guy walks into a bar and sees a small baby grand piano sitting on the bar counter with this really little guy playing it. I mean this guy is really tiny but he is playing this piano like there is no tomorrow. It was the 1812 overture and it was brilliant.
He gets to the end of the bar hops on the stool and is staring at the large brass ‘aladdin’ style lamp. He asks the bar tender, “What’s that?”
The bar tender says, “It’s a magic lamp and a Jeanie lives in it. If you rub it he comes out and grants a wish.”
The guy ribs the lamp and a jeanie comes. The jeanie slurs, “Your wish is my command”
The jeanie is drunk, really drunk.
Guy gets excited and says, “Give me a million bucks!”
Jeanie says, “It’s done” and vanishes back into the bottle. Guy asks the bar tender where his money is. Bartender tells him to look around.
Guy can’t find anything so he steps outside. He sees 1 million ducks walking down the street quacking his name. “Bill, Bill, Bill” (his name is Bill)
He’s pissed, goes back into the bar and yells at the bartender, “I didn’t ask for a million ducks.”
The bar tender says, “Do you think I wanted a 12 inch pianist?”

This tactic is pretty useless when playing against the Vikings.
Chilly probably doesn’t know what hes going to try yet, mostly cuz Brett Favre hasn’t told him and Favre was also missing practice this week so he could put on his GM hat and make a trade. He is a TERRIBLE coach, with some solid players.
Brett Favres age is really starting to show, and thats not the only thing hes showing.

    Patriots sign Danny Woodhead
“Many will assume Woodhead is only being signed for his information, but he also fits the Patriots mold. They look for versatility above all else, especially at the end of their roster.
If the move tweaks their rivals a day before playing them, consider that a nice bonus. ”

Captain, seriously, take a breath. The Jets aren’t investigating Favre. The Jets don’t give a rat’s a** about who Favre is sending photos to. It’s the League that is looking into it.
Cromartie, Revis, Rex….your post is all over the place, and basically makes you sound like a “stereotypical hater”. Every team has them, and most just ignore them.
