Aaron Rodgers concussion means Matt Flynn could start

Aaron Rodgers has started 37 consecutive games since taking over for Brett Favre as the Packers’ quarterback. But with Rodgers recovering from a concussion, Matt Flynn could start on Sunday.

It’s definitely possible,” Packers coach Mike McCarthy said, per the Green Bay Press-Gazette. “I know at a minimum [Rodgers will] miss some practice time.”

Rodgers will not be allowed to return to action until he’s cleared by team doctors and an independent doctor, and Flynn said he expects to run the offense at practice on Wednesday. If he starts on Sunday he’ll be the first quarterback other than Rodgers and Favre to start a game for the Packers since Don Majkowski in 1992.

Said Packers offensive coordinator Joe Philbin of the possibility that Rodgers will miss time, “We’ll be fine.”
